Vontae Davis ... retires?

Anyone making this a thing about the Bills are clueless.

There are bad teams every year and when was the last time you heard about a player quitting during a game?

Never.

Thus is a BAD LOOK for Vonte.   A terrible mistake.   Sorry he did this.  I suspect he’ll regret it someday...   at least I hope he does.

Awful.

Makes you wonder if he doesn't have personal problems going on. He is done though. He was a Good Colt, nothing great but Good for a couple years.

Here is his official Statement and yes every picture is him as a colt.

One year he was great. The 2013 season I believe

Ok I get his statement, and if you think it's time to quit, then quit. But like, wait till the end of the game? Like damn. What a horrible decision by 21. Was one of my favourite Colts while he was here.

And that season you're thinking of was 2014. Didn't give up a TD all season. What a magical season that was.

that I agree with, should have told the coaches when game ended maybe mention to McDermott that this was it for you today.

And ahh okay I couldnt remember if it was his first good season with us or second good season that ended up being great for that

He was also pretty solid in 2015 and parts of 2016 too. Had some games where he shut down some big time guys like Hopkins, Evans, Allen Robinson and what not, but he kept getting hurt. By the time 2017 rolled around, he was a shell of his former self. Only in the NFL can I guy go from shutdown number 1 corner to retiring mid game in the span of 3 years. Crazy.

My guess is he gave up on the Colts last year too, which is why he got cut mid season

From what I remember, he wanted to have surgery so he would be ready for free agency and the team wanted him to rehab so he would possibly be available later in the season. He had the surgery and the colts released him.

Yessir.

This right here.

This is when it became clear he was trying to do what he could for one last payday to set him and his family up (nothing wrong w that) but didn't care about trying to help the team or pushing to get right.

So his statement today said the same.

He wasn't living up to his standards so he walked away.

Walked away w an extra $3.5M in his pocket i think.

I think I read somewhere he got $1.5M to sign and $2M of his salary this year was fully guaranteed.

Not bad to make $3.5M extra in your career for one half of football after he was inactive for game 1.

Crazy

I'd retire too if I played for the Bills.

Once he saw they were going to be terrible he called it a career. LOL! Jeesh he could have at least pulled himself out, claimed to be injured and watched from the sidelines or something.
