Good signing. Are we sure he will be on LB and not DL?

Dude's 6'1" and 260 lbs....yes, he'll be an OLB.

Superman nailed it on the head!

there were a number of people, myself included, on the Simon train.  I'm really happy with this signing.  He was probably the best SamLB available in Free agency and can provide some pass rush also.

That's how you do business... no "Colts, Bears, Jax, and half the league are showing interest in Simon"... "Simon deciding between Colts and Bears" .... "Colts making a serious push for Simon",,,, no drama, no nothing... meet him/agent, offer, sign! No media drama, no artificial bumping up the price!

He has a high motor, I remember him being all over the field playing against us. I remember his number #51 more than his name but will be a strong contributor

Can bench over 500 pounds too.   Strength, size, energy and work ethic is just what the Colts need.   This will be a great signing.

Now let's close out the Sheard deal in % then get a NT and CB. Still my top move would be trade for Kendricks.

All of those moves would be spot on.
I kind of favor Hankins, and at this point a reasonable deal with Claiborne could be worth a shot.

Hankins is probably my top guy left at this point. If you can get him in the door for a reasonable price, you've added two guys that will help tremendously against the run (including Simon). That gives CB flexibility to go after pass rushers and CB in the draft. I'd also like to see Zach Brown brought in for 7-8 mil max.

Ya....a sensible contract, productive young player, ideal scheme fit....there is just no place for that on day 2 of free agency.

Perplexed indeed.

It was more of a joke, but whatever buddy.

We needed help at LB and we got it....so that's cool

I like this signing. Walden's sack numbers last year were probably going to drive up his price, but it must be remembered than Walden did not grade out well against the run last year, the primary role of a SAM. I think Ballard feels Simon is a cheaper and better SAM against the run, while still bringing some pass rush too.

Love it! Former Buckeye guy. He's a lunch pail, blue collar guy with great character. He produced well in limited snaps with the Texans. I'd almost guarantee he's our starting SOLB, and a much better pure pass rusher than Walden. I'd rather pay him 6MIL, than Walden at his age. However, he can play rush if needed as well.

Now lets go get big John Hankins and solidify the middle. I also wouldn't mind beefing the outside up more with Sheard either.

PS Props to Supe calling this one.

Would be interesting considering he was with the us at the time (2013).

I know that, but Grigson went after Eagle players when he was with us. So it's the same thing in that respect. I could be overthinking this, but he did get drafted by the Ravens.

    • I don’t listen to games anymore because I don’t work on Sundays anymore. But man sometimes listening to the game is better than watching it. Kinda miss Matt Taylor getting all pumped..  I-N-D-Y lol
    • Absolutely zero chance a 40 year old Flacco starts unless Richardson is too hurt to go.  Top 5 pick, 22 year old QB who needs reps more than any player in the league vs a 40 year old that has zero chance of being in our plans beyond this year The people that want Flacco to start are way too short sighted of what the Colts are trying to accomplish here. They really don't care about this season if it means that by WEEK 17 they are sure Anthony is the guy and he has improved substantially.    What I don't think they anticipated is the fact that Anthony could be injury prone and has a low pain threshold.  I don't think he is the unluckiest QB to ever play.  But I do think he is one of the youngest.  Practically nobody on the planet (Even at 6'5 255) is mature enough to take  NFL physical punishment at the age of 21 years old IF AT ALL. Only time in the league will prove that.  I don't think he had any benefit in the offseason to prepare his body for this type of punishment- I think his offseason work was mainly to rehab his shoulder and his throwing mechanics.  Perhaps jacking AR up even more than he naturally is might be the play here?  Or the opposite- focus on pliability and durability ALA Brady in his late career. Either way, we will need to spend next offseason addressing this somehow to rule out weather or not its durability.  In the meantime, our QB is going to have to learn and learn quick to suck it up and grind through the bumps and bruises.  Given his career choice, he signed on for 15 year of it. Given his size, he should be able to handle it.  Given his game experience- it was an absolute coin flip weather he could handle it.
    • Never did I suggest that AR wasn’t the starter.  AR has looked got at times  but his type of play is hazardous to himself.  Till he stays on the field, Flacco is the guy.
    • AR said he couldn't run or plant the way he wanted to.   Shane didn't put him back in because he was hurt
    • Find a hobby. Listen to the game instead of watching it while you do that hobby, or home maintenance. I’ve been really busy during this football season and am watching less games. I haven’t been able to watch a full game yet this year. Just can’t afford to waste 3+ hours on Sundays anymore. So if I can I’ll listen to the game otherwise I’ve got things to do. So my advice would be that if you find a hobby or enjoy working on things around the house, listening to the game while doing those things can be more enjoyable.
