Colts Sign LB John Simon

He's thought of as a rising talent, most likely playing SOLB. Not only did we get a solid piece, but we also weakened the Texans a little bit.

there were a number of people, myself included, on the Simon train.  I'm really happy with this signing.  He was probably the best SamLB available in Free agency and can provide some pass rush also.

Good signing This gives us some leverage with Walden if we are even still considering bringing him back. I would still like to grab Okafor to play on the other side and Hodges at ILB

Can bench over 500 pounds too.   Strength, size, energy and work ethic is just what the Colts need.   This will be a great signing.

I like this move. Was kind of a "Super Sub" for the Texans. I remember a couple of games where he made flash effort plays that stuck out. Reasonable deal too.

Hankins is probably my top guy left at this point. If you can get him in the door for a reasonable price, you've added two guys that will help tremendously against the run (including Simon). That gives CB flexibility to go after pass rushers and CB in the draft. I'd also like to see Zach Brown brought in for 7-8 mil max.

I like this signing. Walden's sack numbers last year were probably going to drive up his price, but it must be remembered than Walden did not grade out well against the run last year, the primary role of a SAM. I think Ballard feels Simon is a cheaper and better SAM against the run, while still bringing some pass rush too.

Love it! Former Buckeye guy. He's a lunch pail, blue collar guy with great character. He produced well in limited snaps with the Texans. I'd almost guarantee he's our starting SOLB, and a much better pure pass rusher than Walden. I'd rather pay him 6MIL, than Walden at his age. However, he can play rush if needed as well.

 

Now lets go get big John Hankins and solidify the middle. I also wouldn't mind beefing the outside up more with Sheard either.

This is one of those signings that gives me more confidence in Ballard, not that I didn't already.

A really solid player, he was behind some of really good LB's on the Texans, he could start for a good number of teams.

I know that, but Grigson went after Eagle players when he was with us. So it's the same thing in that respect. I could be overthinking this, but he did get drafted by the Ravens.
