coach manning?

No one could say with certainty but most players who require perfection in themselves don't deal with players very well. I have not heard any comment by Manning on what he wants to do when he does retire so any guess is as good as any other. I always thought he would make a good offensive coordinator but eventually most want a head coaching job. Who knows, he may step away and decide to spent the rest of his time with his family. If that's the case he may not want anything to do with coaching.

He isn't coaching unless he has kids.... low blow or not it is his best chance at another ring. Denver is going to miss Moreno's pass protection Peyton will get hit more this year. I think that was a mistake shelling out all that money for big names and not trying to get Moreno back. He strikes me as the kind of guy who would have taken less to stay too

I think this is a crazy good post by you CrazyColt.....

Personally,  I think the demands of being a coach (negative) plus the demands of being a father/husband (positive) make it unlikely that Peyton will want to be a coach.    Way, way too many other opportunities for him...   and being a coach would cut into most of them.

I just don't see it.....   But, as always,  your mileage may vary!

Who individually really does?   Not many that are truly interested in the NFL.

But Manning could easily put together a group to buy a team.   The Bills are worth around 900 million, and are currently "rumored" to be up for sale.       Manning's worth is around 200 million....       Peyton will eventually be an NFL owner.  He will never coach in the NFL.

Heck I could see Peyton, Eli, and Brady all going in and buying a team...   And if they don't have enough...     I am sure Tommy's old lady would easily put them over the top.

No he doesn't.

I like your sense of fantasy day dreams.

Having your favorite player of all time come coach your team sure did work out nicely for the Packers back in the 70's.

Ask any old Pack fan how awesome of a coach Bart Starr was.

I don't know if he was anyone's favorite player of all time, but it worked out pretty well for Mike Ditka and the Bears.

No he doesn't.

you missed the main point which is he won't be coaching. I should make my first part more clear. No manning doesn't have the money to walk in and buy a team by himself but he does have the money to put together an ownership group to buy a team if wants too. His wife has already been apart of such a group with the grizzlies in the NBA. I see manning either doing TV or buying into a team if he wants to be part of a front office situation. Coaches and GMs get fired and live very stressful lives. Owners don't so if you have the money to own you own.

I would LOVE to see him on the Indy sidelines coaching, but if I were a betting man, I would bet he ends up as a first rate sports commentator for one of the networks.

Retirement usually means more time for the family and coaching hours are even longer than most players spend.

Just my two cents....

He has 21 Papa Johns Franchises & I believe Pizza not the Pigskin will be his not so distant future .

I believe some on here do not know his wife is part owner of the Memphis Grislies too.

Who in the world needs 16-20 days coaching?  That would be ignorant IMO....

Peyton...enjoy the kids and do whatever you want!!  :)

Enjoy time with your kids Peyton.....nothing like having fun with the kids!!!

Why would someone want to coach?  It takes 1-20 hours per day!!  Crazy for Manning to consider IMO.  :)

I didn't know that,  Brent...

But you're right...remembering that his dad missed time with his grandpa.....and Archie devoted himself to his boys..

That's what Peyton and Eli will do once they can go home at night..

owners can go home at night and be home weekends...Coaches and players have to travel..

..I think Tennesse or NOLA will make Peyton a minority partner and let him be their 'ambassador'

no, no he didn't. Just because he was there on game day and some during the week doesn't mean he was coaching. He had the rehab thing going on, perhaps you recall that

No he helped trying to coach the team. He had an interview with Phil and Jim. They asked him about what he was doing to help team. He can't coach because he is a hands on player that has to be on the field. Never know what the future holds though

When Peyton retires. What do you guys think about him becoming a coach for Indy maybe helping out on offense or quarterback?

I have read in the past that Peyton has offers to move right into the front office of at least one NFL team (not the Colts). I think he would be a great being in charge of football decisions.

If Manning coaches anywhere it will be in Denver for Elway. I really don't see him ever coming back to the Colts in any type of football capacity as long as Irsay is here anyways.

But I don't think he will be involved in the NFL anyways. Not enough money in it for him. He may try his hand at the movies.

I doubt he chooses coaching but he could really do anything he wants to.

He could put together a group to buy a team.

He could enter the front office with a team like Elway did

He could be a sportscaster.  I've actually heard that a lot of networks want to sign him to be a sports caster the moment he retires.

I think he'd be a horrible coach. I don't think he has the patience or temperament for developing young talent. I wouldn't want him anywhere near a team in any capacity.

This is just my view, but I believe he's much too pompous and self centered to coach. I think he'd always want tho focus to be on him. He's just not the right type of guy to be an effective coach.

    • I absolutely LOVE that Mitchell picked 10 as a constant reminder that 10 WR’s were picked before him.  That is a GIGANTIC chip on his shoulder.   So far I like everything I’m reading about the kid.  There may be speed bump or hiccup some day….  But so far so good.
    • I got a Colts tattoo on my calf with the score of the Super Bowl for all the Bears fans that live in Iowa to look at as a reminder.
    • You do it based on their careers.  Using your logic you might as well say Chad Kelley is better than Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees too because Ryan and Foles are or are practically retired so yeah it’s impossible for them to be better than Kelley right now because he’s playing and they aren’t because they are older and their careers are over.     Also using your logic Sam is on a NFL roster and Kelley isn’t and it’s not because teams don’t know about this hidden gem.  They have seen him in the CFL and still don’t even want bring him in for a training camp spot.  That tells you NFL teams just don’t think he’s good enough for the NFL so even using your logic he’s not better than Sam.
    • I thought Haliburton was very aggressive tonight and he had a big scoring game. Turner's defense was another reason why we won. Nembhard's game winning 3 at the end was justice because all game long NY was making 3 after 3. Divincenzo was shooting like Larry Bird  .
