So, he's a LB? Geez, I would've thought DL would've been hit like they're addressing the LBers?

It's great. Lots of fans (not necessarily here) were so arrogant about Ballard being a trenches guy. And then he picks ZERO trenches guys.

I'll be honest, I expected several guys along the dline, and early on too. Wonk. Wrong. Not the first time lol. I like that they're to the point defensively that they're hand selecting pieces to compliment the scheme. If these guys have the cohesion with our players already in place that Ballard and Co think they'll have, we could make major strides defensively. Exciting. Plus, a dynamic piece like Parris Campbell on offense, I'm very happy with the draft.

Maybe the trench guys he has now are better than what was available, in his mind?

Apparently the Grand Jury found evidence enough to arrest but insufficient to convict.  Charges were dropped.  Was arrested with a group of guys for identity theft.

If it was a grand jury then it was enough to indict, not arrest. If evidence is brought before a grand jury it is almost inevitable that you will be indicted. Different requirements between law and fact for grand jury indictments.

One should never forget the old adage: A good Prosecutor can get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich.

Grand jury’s do not arrest anyone. They merely review evidence to see if there is enough for probable cause for an arrest warrant. A majority of grand jury warrants result in dropped charges and lack of convictions simply because the standard for probable cause is much lower than the standard to convict

A lot of people did. But you weren't smug about it. I am mostly talking about Colts Reddit.

Draft isn’t over yet

Wouldn’t mind seeing one on each side of the trench. (OT & DT)

But you’re right, Ballard said; “there’s plenty of time and you can find players from tomorrow up to, and into the season.

There are still lots of name athletes, guys we’ve all heard of..     and we passed on all of themto take this that few know anything about here in the 5th round.

What does that tell you?

That the Colts wanted him badly.   They didn’t want to risk losing him to take a bigger name.   We must think he’s got a good ceiling.   That he can become something.

Good for them; good for us.   Looking forward to following him.

Now this looks like a great small school find

Quote

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts on Saturday selected linebacker EJ Speed with the 164h-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Speed — who stands at 6-foot-4 and weighs 230 pounds — was a stat sheet-stuffing specialist at Division II Tarleton State, where he collected 231 total tackles (36 for a loss) with 11.5 sacks, 10 passes defensed, three interceptions, eight forced fumbles and three blocked kicks over his 35-game career.

Last year, Speed was a force for the Texans, collecting 106 total tackles (12.5 for a loss) with 5.0 sacks, one interceptions, four passes defensed, eight quarterback hits and two forced fumbles.

As of now, the Colts’ next pick is Saturday in the sixth round (199th overall).

When I googled him found 1 article that talked about an arrest for Organized Criminal Activity but another that didn’t even mention it

That's basically just another term for football... he'll be fine.

I guess you could consider Banogu or even Green a DL player...but I doubt they are 9-techs.

remember having to explain to a poster why christian wilkins would’ve been underwhelming @ 26 lol

if yu dnt have speed find another roster

This dude’s name sounds like a create-a-player on Madden.  Lmbo   He better be fast.

Mix in the Paris/Hilton combo and we've got some interesting lame jokes ahead of us by the announcers :goodluck:..

Listening to his cell-phone interview, he handled himself very well, even though Mike Wells and one other person were pressing him fairly hard on the legal trouble.  He didn't want to go into detail other than to say he's not around the people that it happened with any longer,  someone posted a Tweet above saying same.  Based on what he's been through, i'd like to see him at least make the PS.  He was excited and said he makes big plays, that's his specialty.  He's a drafted WILL Linebacker for the Colts he stated.

I hope he works out...for him and his family even more than  filling a Colts need. A young person makes a first mistake and get written off with society saying something like "go live under a bridge, your life is over". I think people, who learn from their mistake, and are honestly working on improving, deserve a second chance in getting employment, housing, etc. When people don't get a second chance, what's left for them? 3rd and 4th chances....I think the path back has to be tougher each time but there always has to be a path.

I will be pulling for this guy.

Tarelton State...sounds like a college started by a tobacco company.

    • Come on now…  Lamar Jackson is a two time NFL MVP.   Justin Fields is entering his 4th season, and he wasn’t terrible with Chicago.    Anthony Richardson started 4 games for the Colts.  He’s thrown just 84 total passes.   We’re all pulling for the kid to succeed,  but he’s got a lot to prove before  anyone can credibly say AR is better than Fields or Jackson.    There are plenty of questions to be asked and the answers wont come until early next year.    We all could be having an entirely different conversation next off-season.
    • People saying he was a run first QB never watched his college tape. I won't lead the witness, but you can make some basic assumptions as to why people believed that.   IMO, his actual football problems coming into the league were:   - bad footwork. Made him have some inconsistent, wild throws at times. - not that great at making easy, short passes. The layups, essentially.     I'd say in the short sample we saw last year, that the latter issue he dramatically improved on. For the former, there were still some erratic throws (when he missed, he really missed), but he also showed progress there a s well (his completion percentage in the NFL was 59.5 vs 53.7 in his one year starting at college. It's usually the opposite trend for most rookies)   I'm absolutely on board on AR becoming a franchise QB, the only issue he has is proving he can stay healthy. I also don't think calling out two minor injuries vs one major injury is enough to call injury prone, but he has to prove it all the same.
    • He can’t as you pointed out those contracts are more or less slotted.
    • No , he is not holding out for first round money. Those days are long gone.
    • Part of me wishes AD gets 88. I like what Dallas does with their 88.
