CanuckColt
... I guess we could IR him with a return designation so he doesn't take up a roster spot.Probably what they are gonna do.
Superman
I hear he's a decent run stuffer on early downs. So is Chapman. He's the devil we know, Taylor is the devil we don't know.
NewColtsFan
For what it's worth....... ESPN's Mike Wells says Hughes is next man up, and Kerr and Anderson are next. We'll see......  http://espn.go.com/blog/indianapolis-colts/post/_/id/13436/colts-dt-art-jones-to-get-another-opinion-on-his-ankle
PeterBowman
So is Chapman. He's the devil we know, Taylor is the devil we don't know.Which is why I ask if he is an upgrade over what is already here.
indyagent17
It seems to me that he has has ankles that are wearing down. There are many NFL players that once they damage an ankle it will always susceptible to injury.  Sadly he may never be effective with those ankles and its a shame
Gavin
Phil Taylor is more mobile then Chapman but is not good holding his ground from what I see when he gets tired and does not have the stamina to be any more then a rotational NT, He is an upgrade in my opinion because of that mobility however when healthy. But he aint ready to go
Dustin
Then why was he cut and not traded....Because nobody wanted to trade for him. Nobody wanted to trade for Desean Jackson either. Doesn't mean he was bad.And for the record, Taylor is bad.

Mr. Irrelevant
Phil Taylor anyone?   Let us wait and see what might drop to us when everybody cut their roster down to 53 on Saturday. There is always a surprise or two.
JPFolks
I can't see facebook or twitter at work. Is the tone that he WANTS to play earlier? If the first DR said he could play, why is he seeing another one?Is it just me or did anyone else get the feeling he DIDN'T WANT to play the rest of this season? It's like he's searching for an exit option with pay.

It's like he's searching for an exit option with pay. I dont give grief to anyone in this league that wants to be sure that they arent furthering an injury by comeing back too early Last year... the doctor was WRONG...... he came back to early...... he reinjured the leg......... I also would get a second opnion  Many players cant walk without pain the rest of their lives after playing. Some (many need a cane)........... The average NFL career is less than 4 years  Just another viewpoint

Deathiltis
Another free agent bust by Grigson, go figure. Not drafting Malcom Brown looks really good now. I hate to complain since this team has some nice young pieces but I get depressed at the thought of how great this team would be if just a few draft picks and free agent money had been used wisely. If Andrew Luck isn't MVP leading this weak team to the playoffs I'll eat sawdust.
bababooey
Good thing we drafted Malcolm Brown when he fell to us and not a WR to compete for the third spot on an already great offense.

indy1888
Yeah he's not coming back this season. It's worse then last year and he was never right then. A waste of money for sure. Probably time to cut losses when it's financially sound. We will see how the Colts spin this. The talk all offseason was how a healthy Jones would be the difference on the D line. cmgww
You can't put it all on Grigson on this one...he wasn't injury prone coming in from Baltimore. But it does suck

CamMo
I like Art Jones. I'm bummed for him.  It's not his fault (nor Grig's) that his ankle was rolled up on...But this could be a best case scenario, as far as injuries go, for our team to adapt at the beginning of the season. Smonroe
We made it to the title game with him on one leg most of the season. He obviously didn't help the run defense against the Pats. Can't lose what you never had. Great scenario would be that he heals up and comes back in January.
