Haven't actually compared the stats of the two, but come on - QB controversy or what?

What if Luck comes back and starts getting hammered again?  Who will continue to blame an OL that has kept MH basically clean the last two games?

WTG Hasselbeck!

MH has played well. Kudos. But here's the difference: Frank Gore 98 yards rushing. Completely changes the Colts offense. It becomes balanced. It becomes more diffucult for a defense to defend. It opens up passing lanes. It opens up playaction. When Luck gets back we need Gore to keep getting the ball and meaningful yards. END OF STORY

Yah Im totally serious too eh?   GEEESH some of you guys need to lighten up a bit!

Fact is Hasselbeck has played a whole lot better than Luck with the same team around him.... What I was really getting at is I hope Luck has learned a great deal from watching from the sidelines the last two games.  If he is truly a football genius he should have .... we shall see.  If he comes out and continues to throw horrible picks and get hit/sacked half a dozen times we will know for certain that he is not as smart about learning from his mistakes as some would like to think he is!

I actually agree with you on this. We`ve heard how "intelligent" Luck is from day 1 but yet he continually goes for the chunk yardage or throws high passes over the middle..almost cringe worthy. Holding onto the ball too long also, while Hasselbeck did more 3 step drop backs and zip the ball was gone. That's what I`d like to see more than anything else offensively moving forward, move the chains with shorter throws and runs then bomb away when the chance presents itself. Luck CAN do it, just has to change his ways and improve

You know, I would normally suggest this is a feeble attempt at sarcasm but I have seen enough off-the-wall stuff from you to believe you are truly serious about this which can only be rebutted with a...

Matt played against 2 bad teams and won. He didn't turn the ball over and played smart. But he obviously doesn't have the arm strength anymore, can't make all the throws as they say. The offensive line gave him surprisingly good protection vs Watt and the Texans! It's great we have Matt, but the ability level isn't even freakin close between he and Andrew, you're kidding yourself if you think it is.

Ya, Luck has never spread the ball around his entire career

But he is not doing it this season. If i remember correctly the 2nd game this season, he mostly targeted Hilton. Hilton was basically the entire offense that game. I'm not talking about his entire career but this season. He have not distributed the ball well either that is Luck fault or Hamilton fault. The way the offense was run yesterday is how Luck should be running.

Hasselbeck did great! Sad to say, I was just waiting for an INT like I've become accustomed to from the first 3 games. Pleasant surprise. Crazy how much better the offense can be without 238472934 OL penalties and 4 turnovers a game.

Props to MH! Now I'm ready for some healthy Luck!

You mean the game when Moncrief had 7 catches for 122 yards and a TD?

GIVE LUCK THE SAME PLAY CALLING! But Luck also has to realize he needs to take the small gains sometimes. He worries about the big play and forces things to much. He'll be fine. Props to Hasselbeck though.

Luck doesn't have Hasselbeck's quick release...I wonder if it can be learned.

Aaron Rogers has a great quick release.

If Luck has another bad game, Pep, Grigs, Pags, or the OL will get the blame again I'm sure.  That being said, I hope Luck plays lights out.

I too hope Luck is lights out from here on out, but I have absolutely nothing to base that hope on because he has proven time and time again that he is not learning from his mistakes!

When are people going to realize that Matt isn't running the same offense?

Well aren't you Sherlock Holmes?

Course that has nothing to do with decision making and fundamentals.

Well aren't you the smartest person to ever type a complete sentence on a message board.

I never stated that, so congrats on trying to come off as crass and succeeding!

Also, please, Sherlock Holmes? People still us that as a shot in 2015? Insult to the character lol.

I have already praised Hasslebeck's decision making and ball security on this board, but yeah... we beat the Jags and Texans. Luck with a bad shoulder would have embarrassed these teams. And yes, us adjusting to a more suitable offense for Matt has helped him tremendously. So for your next shot, please use another ficitonal super detective k thnx!

It's really not about a quick release. It's about short efficient passes instead of 7 step drops.

No...it really is about his release.  I just watched the full replay of the game again this afternoon.

Hasselbeck was dropping back, making a decision and getting the ball out, all very quickly.

The O-line played great but they did not need to hold their blocks nearly as long as Andrew makes them do...and Hasselbeck's actual release IS quicker than Andrew.

Andrew plays quarterback just like BIG Ben...waiting and waiting for someone to get open, then taking the hit to make the play...not very smart, and Andrew is supposed to be a smart guy.  Andrew just keeps extending the play and making his O-line look worse...a lot of the apparent bad O-line play is Andrew stretching the play out and expecting protection for the whole time.

Andrew still has a lot to learn about QB play in the NFL...Peyton had it figured out by year 4 and got rid of the ball much better.

I blame Pep for this.

Why did Pep waited until Luck to get hurt and finally realized that he had to start using short pass games and run games.

Why couldn't he do this since Week 1? I hope Pep get hired somewhere this off-season.

Everyone is saying pep this and pep that...

No one wants to admit what REALLY happened is Hasslebeck showed that in comparison Luck has little skills at making play calls and adjustments at the line at all.

Nearly every big play were from Hasslebeck reading the D and making audible changes at the line, not something Pep did.

Are you under the impression that Luck doesn't call audibles and make big plays?

You think this is something exclusive to Matt Hasselbeck?

Goodness gracious.

There are no words in the English Language to even create a controversy.    It simply doesn't exist.

And anyone who thinks there is a controversy simply doesn't know and understand football.

We're not running the same offense with Matt that we are with Andrew.      We may start doing that now,  but we haven't to start the season.

Use Tenn as the comparison game then.  Andrew still made some bad decisions against a bad team.  I think the point is that Andrew has much to learn still.  He can't be a gunslinger all the time.  When the Colts don't turn the ball over, we're still pretty good.  Take the 5-6 yard short throws and move the chains.  Then stretch the field.

You mean the Tennessee game where Luck played very well after the offensive line switch up and what appeared to a change in offensive play calling?

Although, I must say it was nice to finally see some designed roll outs........for Matt Hasselbeck. That's right, not one of the more mobile quarterbacks in the league in Luck, but Hasselbeck.

I was just watching the NFL network and Eric Davis stated what many fans have been saying all along.  The Colts need to change their style of offense to succeed in the NFL, with Andrew Luck.  I think Luck has been taking a lot of notes the last couple weeks and I cannot wait to see the offense come out against the Patriots.  I think this west coast style offense has the ability to score 30+ points against the Patriots but I do think the Patriots could score 40+ points easily on this defense.

I recall him spreading ti around like crazy in the playoffs last year so its weird for anyone to act like he's never done it or isn't capable of doing it. Actually, a few times during the regularly season last year too.

This year he'a just been a bit too greedy, always trying to go for the big play and staring down big play guys.

Against Denver in MileHigh he spread it around a lot, even Nicks had a TD. I agree with you he has spread it around a lot. Just look at the 4th Qtr against the Titans. He even got Dorsett involved with a long TD.

Ya I was being sarcastic. The guy had a couple of tough games compicated by no pass protection and cruddy play selection and people act like he never engineered 26 game winning drives in his NFL career. Short memories I guess.

Texans gave us 125 yards and we won by 7. Jax missed a fg. U guys can chant Hasselbeck if u want, I'm all in for Luck. They called a way different game for Hass. Had nothing to do with his decision to spread anything. He just followed the game plan which was play safe, and don't turn ball over. He did exactly what a back up is supposed to do. Let's just be happy we edged thru and move on. Trying to name him a starter means ur trying to play those qb games that CLE and HOU playing. End up like the 49ers, stuck with Kap. They did the same thing. U can't just switch a qb bcuz ur starter got hurt. U get caught all up in the moment like they did with Kap and those guys. Jax and Houston. Gimme a break.

WTG Hasselbeck!

Child please...don't think for one second Hasselbeck is the better option long term at QB over Luck. Luck just has some things to clean up but he is FAR more talented than Hasselbeck.
