Think any team is going to give up a 2nd rounder for Freeman?

Mods can move this to Draft/FA if it belongs there, but idk.

 

Think any team will sign him to an offer sheet? And if they do, do you think the Colts *should* match? I don't think they should, no matter what the offer is.

I'd be very surprised. The formula would be a team with a late 2nd rounder who didn't have many outstanding needs.

I doubt the Colts would match.

Then why get rid if freeman if you're just going to draft his replacement. Especially when freeman is doing a good job. We know what freeman is, we don't know what Perryman brings in the nfl.

Freeman is a good linebacker. Not sure why all the hate. He's basically been in the top 3 in team in tackles since he got here. Obviously as a ILB in a 3-4 scheme your tackles should be inflated a little but he has played well vs the run.

Now he's poor against the pass but he really shouldn't be covering who he covers half the time. Poor calls by our D coordinator. (Who should have been fired before already)

I think it's possible,  but very unlikely.

 

The only reason I think it's even possible is because this is such a disappointing ILB class in the draft.    Some team might be tempted to go with a more sure thing.

 

But,  ultimately,  I think the price of a #2 will scare them off....

2. I would not trade a solid player for one I have no idea will translate to the nfl and/or perform at or above the level I already have.

2. He asked why they would do it.

3. I gave him legitimate reasons.

4. Perryman is 21. 21 > 28

5. Freeman has hit his ceiling. He is not a true #1 so it wouldn't be a mega loss.

Sorry but 21 is not greater than 28. You ask almost anyone, especially runners and weight lifters, when they were in their prime, it wasn't 21. Biologically and statistically speaking men hit their prime from 25-29. When I was 21 I ran a two mile in 14:00. When I was 25 I ran it 11:30.

Same with weight lifting. At 145lbs I was lifting 180 max (35 over body weight). At 25 and weighing 155, i was lifting 220 (65 over body weight).

Your body is primed for that kind of development and growth after 25.

Are you crazy? More than half the league doesnt even know who freeman is.

 

This is an incredibly embarrassing post.    The opposite of reality.

 

It would really help if you stopped and thought for even a quick moment before you posted.

 

Otherwise,  it's as if you're having a Turrett's moment just blurting out whatever comes to mind.....     Not helpful.

No but that has very little to do with his performance last season, Teams that would be interested would know they are not getting the same player that struggled with injuries most of the year, They would know if he is healthy that they would be getting a player more along the lines of what he was in 2012 or 2013

Yes, I understand being in your prime is much better than being a 21 year old rookie. But like I said, Freemans ceiling has been reached and he's not really a factor. He's a solid player but he's not someone that would cause our defense to fall apart if he left.

With a 21 year old you can mold him into what you're looking for. In 2 years Freeman will be 30 and that's when most players start declining. Perryman would just be turning 23 with plenty of time to get better before he hits his prime.

Once again like I said, it's not something I would necessarily want because Freeman is solid, but I answered his question with facts.

You said it, Narco..He's in his prime...

Why is it when a guy has a mediocre year..that its the beginning of the end..?

..but when he has a good year followed by an injury affected mediocre year....well..the good year must have been a fluke/?"

I want to keep him as a Colt

No one ever said anything about a fluke with him. I also never said anything about him declining already.. but.. injured or not his production fell off quite a bit from what it once was. That's just fact

I doubt anyone would pay that. I think he is quite underrated, though. One of the better coverage LB's in the league. That game against the Bengals was art. I think if we got a solid D-line in front of him, you'd see him making a lot more plays

While I agree with a lot of the above I also don't think he's worth a 2nd rounder. If someone offered us a straight up trade Freeman for a 2nd rounder I'd take it.  

 

Good player but I'd peg his value as a 3rd rounder at most, but that's just my opinion and I don't think I'm winning armchair GM of the season any time soon.

I don't think anybody will, but if they do I don't think the Colts should match any offer.

 

Freeman is I think 29. . . wouldn't you trade him for a 2nd rounder?  I know I would.  

 

If someone's willing to give up a 2nd for Freeman. . . they can have him.  I like Freeman and all, don't get me wrong but he's not worth a 2nd round pick.  The reason we tendered him that high was to make sure that no one did give him an offer sheet.
