For the record: I wanted the Colts to lose. In order to get the "elite" pass rushers and other defensive needs, we needed a higher draft pick. We're projected to get the 15th pick as of now and it's thats very... mediocre. The best linebackers and corners will be gone.

People are forgetting that this was Robert's final game of a beautiful career in Indy.

That's room arguably enough to celebrate in and of itself.

They also beat us the last 2 times we have played them.

That's room for celebration.

We also came back down 17, and Luck led a beautiful drive to score with 9 seconds remaining.

------ And to be clear, that is a talented defense. Despite their record that is a talented team. And Jax always plays us with 200% effort.

Like it or not, we are a mediocre team, so whenever we win, expect celebrations.

If you want someone to sit around and drown in your sorrow with you, this is not the place. The goal is to win. ALWAYS.

Here's the thing, we are not a good team. So a win is a win and I don't blame the players for being excited after the comeback especially in Robert's last game.

Yes, Paw Paw Pagano and Grampy Grigson have set the bar so low for their grandkids that going down 17-0 to a 3 win team and being lucky that the Jags played a prevent defense so they could come back and win is worth a parade and a trophy.

I agree a win is always great and well Mathis I cant say enough.  But the problem I think most of us have is we are down by a large margin quite often and that is not good and no matter if we come back or not we shouldn't be in that position so often.

Me too.  This game means nothing for keeping or firing either Grigs, Pagano, or both.  But the draft slotting matters.  The difference between the 12 and 15 pick is 150 value points, or the 88th pick in the draft...about where we got TY.

I don't expect the players, coach, or GM to ever try to lose, but I was hoping for it.

The complaints I have been seeing throughout the forum today are 1 of 2 things.

1.) Complaining that we won the game

2.) Complaining that we celebrated a win at the end.

The fact that it was even a close game is annoying. I agree. Regardless of anyone's opinion on Grigs, Chuck, or Irsay. The team is allowed to celebrate. You have no idea what the players think of the management. They could 100% agree.

Anyhow, a win is a win. We can celebrate wins.

Whatever bro.

You're not playing the game. You have no idea how good of a teammate Mathis was and how much everyone wanted to get a win for him in his last game.

Ya'll can cry all you want to about coaches and front office staff but no one is going to apologize for a win no matter what the circumstance.

Irsay also thought that we were a bounce or 2 away from an undefeated season. He seems out of touch with reality and he's unpredictable and that worries me. His decision to give them both 4 more years yet fire nearly all of the rest of the staff still baffles me. He signed them to extension for the sake of continuity and he's gotten exactly what he asked for.

And anyone who says that Grigson's drafting is better due to the last draft is just plain wrong. He was forced to abandon the best players available and draft 4 o linemen because Irsay gave him the mandate to protect Luck. History says his drafts are average or below average and him drafting 4 o linemen doesn't change that.

Texans fans, Titans fans, and Jacksonville fans are real happy for you too...now your owner is going to keep Pagano and Grigson, so congrats!

Pagano is as good as gone either way. It didn't matter if we lost or  won by 40.. I believe Irsay made the decision to fire him weeks ago.

Excuse me but I'm more concerned with the team getting better and winning championships. Good for Mathis but he should have been gone after taking PEDs and lying about it. I've met him and I like him as a person but winning a meaningless game means nothing for the future of this team.

And like I've stated before, I'm not upset with the Colts for playing hard. That's what I expected them to do. I'm upset with the Jags for giving this game away.

I'm fine with Grigson to be honest, but if we can get Manning you pull the trigger..Pagano is the problem and always has been...We need Gruden or Harbaugh and we are the team with the QB to make them bite..Just offer them the money and even full control of personnel if that's what it takes..

How did he lie? Had a baby directly after taking the stuff. That was the intent for them taking it.

I think it does matter for this regime. I think many if not most of us believed they'd both be gone last season and those 2 meaningless wins at the end of last season put a crack in that plan. That gave them an excuse to say hey we still got to 8-8 with our QB out. Now there's a contract extension involved and this win plus those contracts could buy them another season.

You can be okay with the players and coaches celebrating and still be unhappy with the game. Aside from being happy for Mathis and Gore, and Luck and Doyle for the game winning TD, I can't say I'm really too pleased with that win.

Anybody who's played any sport can probably understand the players and coaches being excited from an athlete's perspective. At the same time you can still have the fan mentality of "well, yet again we started out horribly and relied on Luck's heroics."

I think they both would have been gone last season if the rumors about Sean Payton being almost hired are true.  Just like this season, I don't think the wins at the end of a meaningless season are reasons to keep them around.

Now, Irsay may want to play out the 4 year extension a bit more, but that has nothing to do with this last win.

His story was the dumbest I've heard. He said that his wife was having trouble conceiving and couldn't take the drug due to health issues and the doctor told him to take it. Him taking it has absolutely nothing to do with helping his wife if she was the one having issues conceiving.

Clomid is a drug for women when they are having issues conceiving. Clomid increases testosterone in men and sometimes doctors do write it for men with a low sperm count. I know this because I was prescribed Clomid before. My wife is also a doctor and she laughed when she heard Mathis' story.

Clomid is on the banned list of substances and I'm not even sure if he would have gotten a waiver even if he asked the NFL for one.  He's a smart man and who knew this but he took it anyway.

Even Dr. Thompson, who was Indy's renowned fertility specialist was interviewed by the local TV media and he said that Mathis' story made no sense at all. Dr Thompson was also my doctor.

Yeah because Tennessee has had so much success vs Pagano.

No... been a Colts fan since their arrival. I'm STILL happy with the win but it does NOT mask the problems with this team going forward with Chuck at the helm. Starting a game DOWN 17-0 at home against a 3 win team speaks volumes. The Colts were fortunate not to end the season against a non division opponent because ONCE again the afc south bailed Chuck out.

We went 500 in our div. I hardly call that bailed out

I said 10-6, you said 7-9 so it is kind of in between where we thought. You guessed right by 1 game closer basically and we gave away several games earlier this season actually, that first Houston game was a complete fluke. Having said that I have no idea what Irsay will do and I actually don't think this game has any influence on what he decides. He is smart enough to know that a win over a crummy Jacks team doesn't influence any decision. After signing them both to 4 year extensions last season I have actually said all season he wont get rid of either until least after next season anyway no matter the record. Is that the right decision, probably not but it is what it is. After the 2nd Houston loss I wanted Pagano gone so I am not going to be overly joy'd about winning today. Having said that, despite being wrong with my 10-6 prediction, I also said no way we would have a losing with Luck at QB and he was 8-7 as a starter, missing 1 game we lost. At least Heath Evans can go suck eggs with his 6-10 prediction.

I don't think anyone who is upset with the Colts not winning are upset because the players didn't intentionally lose, (No one should expect that; it doesn't make sense.) they are upset because they were rooting for them to lose because it is auspicious for the franchise.

Mostly because over the years we do stuff on the side (him and me) with various topics and studies that are not even sports related subjects.

And also because this is a nice football forum to chill out at too.

look, i have rooted for tanking in the past

i realized its pointless though becasue the team will pretty much always play to win, especially at home.  there were like 70000 fans in attendance.  imo those are the real fans, not some guy on a forum hoping we lose

people that are mad will just have to get over it
