Colts need a big, tall receiver like calvin johnson.

Someone who you cant shut down no matter what. Luck has shown he can throw into tight spots. They bring momentum to the team. I love TY but we need to bring some load off his back. Teams know now hes the colts best chance.

Its always been a missing piece that is easily solved. Marvin harrison was 6'0. Reggie is 6'2. Ty is 5'9. 6'6" or 6'7" with long arms would just be nearly impossible to stop unless you have a bad qb.

What you think of moncrief for the long term?

I think the big issue with Monrief is that he almost insists catching with his body. Receivers like CJ reach up and pluck the ball down, but a receiver like CJ with the combination of size, speed, jumping, and catching ability is almost impossible to find. Larry Fitzgerald (in his prime) was imho the closest in the last ten years to that type of receiver. Mike Evans has those types of measurables, but Calvin Johnson is arguably a once in a generation receiver.

Man you and I think very much alike LOL. I think Moncrief will be a star wide out and I think we'll see that next season, but I want us to add a guy like Green Beckham in the draft. Yes your right, we do need that big 6'3 or 6'4 athletic beast, whose strong, fast, a deep threat, and can go up and grab the ball out of the air. A guy like Green, Megatron, Jones, Gordon, Bryant, etc. A guy who makes that "Holy ****, did you see that catch in a big game" Think of what a receiving corps or Hilton, Moncrief, and Green Beckham could do.

^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^THANK YOU!!^^^^^^^^^

I said the same thing a few days ago when someone posted that we need an Odell Beckham Jr. like receiver.....

Odell Beckham in my opinion will become the best receiver in football next year. Best hands in the NFL and it literally looks like he's exploding when he runs his routes. I would rather have him over Calvin right now. (just my opinion).

He probably is already after that second half. Kid is a precocious talent.

Give defensive coordinators an off-season to game plan against him...before we make him No. 1

No, what they need is a fast-twitch, short stride receiver (or two, or three) who's good in space and can get open on the short to intermediate routes when facing man coverage. We need to get first downs and score when in the red zone.

Screw the whole "explosive, big play", blah blah receiver. That's great and all but it doesn't win games, especially when he's removed from the game due to double coverage.

It would be great to have a guy who could really high point the football like Megatron or Dez but those guys don't come around very often. Fleener is the nearest thing we have currently. Its a nice luxury, but the Pats and Seahawks proved you can win with smurfs if you have the running game to create balance.

Why not both?

The name of the thread is we need a big, tall receiver like Johnson. We all know who Jonson plays for so your 2 cents is not worth 2 cents. Your comment is exactly what you said this thread is.

Man I wish we could have a back like Demarco Murray, a corner like Sherman, a safety like Chancellor, a linebacker like Kuechley, a defensive end like Watt.

The point is there isn't another receiver like Johnson, he's by far the best receiver in the game, every team wants that. This thread is still

That's ideal and we already have the explosive guys. A tall guy would be nice and we already have that in Moncrief....I know, he's not CJ's size but he's still big. We're not going to get a WR like CJ so we might as well talk more realistically.

BTW, Dorial Green Beckham could possibly be a Megatron type receiver. I know he comes with question marks but he'll grow up. Those question marks however will hurt his draft stock so most likely he will be there we pick in the 1st and possibly the 2nd. I really hope we get him.

Man you really like this kid.  I haven't disagreed with the things you like about him.  I am just hesitant about his work ethic and being a team player.  The reports about his QB thinking he's lazy or whatever are cause for concern, if you ask me.  Can he grow out of it?  Sure, but I'm pretty hesitant at this point.  I think at bare minimum, he will be treated like any other rookie and forced to work his way into a starting role, which may not come until after a full year.  I just don't want to have a Josh Gordon situation on our hands.  I doubt the Colts will ever let it get as far as the Browns have with Gordon, but it's still a problem/distraction nonetheless.  I guess thankfully it won't be a Jaguars/Blackmon situation where Carter gets 1st round pay and Colts have to eat the salary should Carter start having problems.

6-6 or 6-7? Really? Those guys are few and far between. Very rare, in fact I can't think of a 6-6 or 6-7 WR in the NFL. Calvin J is 6-5 and Andre J is 6-03. BTW, Reggie is 6-00

I don't know what it is, but when I watch this kid on tape I really love what I see out of him. I mean he has all the I tangibles, but there is just something with him playing with Luck that drives me to believe he's going to do good things in a Colts uniform (if he signs here of course)

He has football in his blood. His father will push him. I think playing with a player such as Luck and for a coach like Pagano will really benefit him. I've heard nothing but positive things about his maturity and work ethic since signing with the CFL.

Luck is terrible throwing into tight spots. Oh wait, maybe some against Bums.

He needs a bunch of 7 footers, but he would likely still throw it over their head!!
