Sad for Ward but hopeful to see Ishmael get a chance to shine, he showed some solid hands in preseason. Also not too surprised Ishmael got the bump over Reece. He was easily our most raw pick so hopefully he continues practicing well.

Sucks about Ward but pleased to hear that Ishmael’s been Elevated to the 53-man roster. I can only assume that he’s worked hard and deserves this opportunity.

I don't think you do.  And even if Fountain was with the team I think Ishmael would have received the nod over Reece.  Ishmael is far and away the more polished receiver, I just wonder if he has the speed to compete in an NFL game.  Fountain is still another training camp away from being ready to step onto the field.

If there's any silver lining on Ward's injury it's that it appears Lewis is looking like he could be returning soon and he'd basically be playing the same position.  Not that I want to see any of our guys get hurt obviously.

You probably weren't the only one, but I was excited to sign him as an UDFA. Knew he had some potential for us down the line. Hopefully it can start this week.

He’s got good size and good hands. More of an intermediate route guy, but knows how to Highpoint the ball and make contested catches.

I admittedly hadn't paid much attention to Ishmael up to this point, I was much more consumed with Deon Cain, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on Ishmael from here on out.

If he has a deal in place he should do it anyway.   We can sure as heck use him now.

I don't think the Dolphins can really afford to move Parker at this point. They have absolutely nothing behind him after all the injuries to their other WRs.

I have always thought that "40" time is overrated stat that is not the be all tell all about a receivers ability.  Case in point, from my internet research :

4.71 seconds, though According to Bill Walsh in an oft-quoted interview, it was a 4.59 and according to Gil Brandt, it was no better than a 4.55: "We timed Jerry in the 40 nine times,” said former Dallas Cowboys general manager Gil Brandt, “and he never got under 4.55."

 

Hmm, seems like Ismael's speed might not be that huge of an issue afterall, if he is put into proper positions to succeed and if he can be a really good route runner.  I am hoping for Ismael to be a surprise. Go Colts!

As long as he runs good routes and transitions  out of breaks smoothly he can get separation

I agree. The Dolphins have been waiting for him to heal. I don't think they are interested in trading him. Now they are waiting for Ryan Tannehill to heal.

They are going to be better when both can get healthy at the same time.

Reece is not with the team due to a death in the family so we can't assume that he's a "bust" or that Ishmael outplayed him.....though I'd love to see both of them by the end of the year and into next year (including Cain) in place of Grant/Pascal/Inman....

Indy admitted Reece was a project player when they drafted him.  Those type of players are not usually on the line-up for the first year.  Nor are they considered bust's after their first year.  Kind of like Swoope.  He was on p.s. for a couple years before his first action.  Now, he's has a TD the last 3 straight games.  Reece just needs patience from most of this forum. Don't expect him this year.

Also, drills at combined can be skewed.  Darius Leonard ran a 4.71 40.  But he hurt his quad running it.  The entire NFL knows Leonard is faster than a 4.71.
