I have never paid too much attention to SOS. Every year teams move up and down with too many variables to count. Injuries can play a huge part on how teams can do. We have witnessed that first hand.

They actually get 4 games because Houston was 4-12 as well.

All of the AFC South teams are the same, except for two games.  We'd play the 3rd place teams for those two games, Jax would play the 1st place teams.

 

I get that Jax has a lower SoS because of the Colts record, but you'd think that playing 1st place teams would up it.

As said in the thread, both Tenn and Jacksonville get two games against a 4-12 team while Indy plays 4 games in division against playoff teams.

 

The only place where there is a difference is with the two games against AFC teams that had a corresponding finish in the divisions that the AFC South does not play in a given year.  This year the Colts play the Bengals and Raiders because those teams finished 3rd in their division like the Colts.

It depends on which 1st place Team you play because their have been times that 9-7 or worse has won certain divisions

That’s not entirely true. They have made an adjustment to fit him perfectly. They put up over 40 points on the stealers. He made some incredible plays that game.

Bortles played better than Andrew did when he was in the AFC championship game. 

 

Im a Colt fan but Bortles isn’t a scrub anymore. Another year for him to get better if they keep him. 

 

Also i hope your right and they keep him because if they upgrade the QB position the Colts aren’t winning south.

Bortles doesn't suck now, he has made progress as a game manager.  That might be all Jacksonville needs

I’ll give bortles a nod for going that far .... I give that to coughlin building the team and running it right .... bortles also had more talent then luck did and a better def. 

 

but in the end end he couldn’t get the job done ... he won’t be that good next year. Every year a QB/team does good when you weren’t expecting it then they slip back into nothingness ... Carolina/cam after SB run.

Like I’ve said in the past with QB’s ... take a healthy Luck and put him in on Seattle’s team a couple years ago and he’s got 1-2 rings already, Jacksonville now and he would be in the super bowl, Carolina couple years back and they win the SB. Take any one of those QB’s on the team I said above and stick them on the colts and they don’t do half the crap Andrew did.

The real question is whats does strength of schedule even mean....a whole bunch of nothing IMO. Teams change so much every season SoS is one of the more useless stats. I would not let it bother you very much....

They only made it because the bills couldn't score and steelers kept messing up other than that I don't see much out that offense

Texans got kinda lucky, in that they finished last in the division, giving them Cleveland and Denver. Meanwhile the 3rd place gave the Colts Cincy and Oakland, the latter of which is on the road. Bengals aren't really scary, but the Raiders with a healthy Carr and Mack are always dangerous.

At the end of the day the Colts have a lot to prove next season. The same statement your making can be said about Luck. He fell off after a championship game as well. Manger or not the Jags played team football this season. That’s what the Colts want as well. We can’t keep asking Andrew to do everything anymore.

I agree with you 100% that’s why I like the CB signing and what he brings. He will build a team around Luck but not dependent on Luck.

IMO the SOS is a useless guide to go by. Every season teams win games they shouldn't and lose some they should have won.

Curious.   How are the Colts drafting ahead of the Texans (Browns pick) when we technically finished ahead of them in the division?

I have a theory on strength of schedule. It means nothing. From year to year those teams that stink the year before are alot better and those that were good stink. You want to be the best you have to beet the best.
