Wow! Now I understand why we didn't re-sign him. That's waaaaay more than I imagined he'd go for. Bethea is very solid against the run, but below avarege against the pass. 26 mil over 4 years is an overpay based on his play the last 2 season, but let's watch and see. SF has a better defense the we do, so maybe he'll look better there.

Contract is about right for a player of his caliber.  In 2014 a lot of Colts fans will be yelling that Grigs should have signed Bethea for that amount.  And people can forget about Byrd, he's going to the Eagles or Redskins

Glad we didn't resign him with the contract he just got. 4 years 26 mil. I feel if we wait a little, Jairus Byrd can be signed for similar numbers. I feel the team offering the biggest contract to Byrd currently is the Bills, but if he wants a chance for a ring, he will sign elsewhere.

Byrd if we can get him for around 6 or 7 mil per season. If not, draft Deone Bucannon, Jimmie Ward, or Dion Bailey in round 2 or 3.

By SF? Yes, me too. His coverage ability was declining and you usually don't get faster with age.

I wish him luck and love what he did for us. But I have the feeling he won't be starting for them next year. Ed Reed should be a lesson.

I know, he truly is! I don't think they even know who Antoine Bethea is. Probably got him mixed up with Bob Sanders for sure.
