There were a bunch of bad mistakes by both sides of the team. That horsecollar tackle and DPI were both terrible mistakes and bad timing on both players part, though. If those two are avoided we very likely come out with the win, but don't forget that Green caught a long TD and Luck did throw a pick.

The team just has to continue to grow, I feel like this was a very promising game aside from the ending.

Yeah Smith is a guard not a tackle. Draft a guy and put him in a place to succeed.

Or Colts reasoning, let’s take a really good college guard and put him at tackle...

That's true however, Smith is unable to beat out Slaussen so for a very high second round pick not good.

Offensive line was pathetic most of the game. Smith was so bad they had to put Haeg back in quickly.

On that particular play Smith was the extra 6th lineman, we where in our jumbo package. Haeg was right beside him. They should've never expected Smith to block Dunlap 1 on 1 like that. For being a patch work Oline they held their own pretty well. The Oline did NOT lose us the game today. The defensive penalties and Doyle fumble lost us the game.

The lack of a run game was a glaring issue to me. The Bengals and Dalton had the luxury of handing the ball off to Mixon.

Leading up the start of the 4th quarter, Mixon was averaging 7.9 ypc. They were patient and kept handing him the ball, knowing we couldn't stop it. They passed with efficiency (75% completion %) because we could not make them one dimensional. Run defense will be an issue all year.

Run game on offense will be an issue all year.

New coach..new d cord. Same bad d. Put that more on Ballard for not getting good players.

It's one game.  Plenty to like about our young guys.   Leonard and hunt played great today.   The offense can't run the ball yet.  That was the single biggest issue.

Smith has to be better than that. Dunlap ran around him like he was sitting on the couch.

Exactly, that Smith play was a bad play call.

Stupid play calls and ill-timed penalties and turnovers. Same old same old! :yuk:

1. Up 23-17 3rd and 14 at the 38. Get 5-8 yards for a Vinny FG to go up 9. 2 score lead.

- Colts proceed to have Luck sling the ball all the way to the left sideline... which goes into the turf. Even if it was caught... no gain because the defender had already closed the gap by the time Luck threw it. What in God's green earth kind of play call is that? STUPID. Vinny of course misses the long 55 yard FG. Can't expect him to bail you out everytime.

2. Bengals take the lead on a td drive full of bad Colts penalties. Worst of which is the 1st one. You have 3rd down and long and Dalton threw it to his TE... who they would have tackled far short of a first down 9/10 times and Geathers just jumps all over the guy instead of you know, playing the ball and the first down marker? STUPID

3. End of game down 4. Colts have moved the ball. Down to about a minute but still having 3 timeouts. First down they call a SCREEN that loses  5 yards? REALLY? crossing routes have been moving the chains and you pick that time to call a screen? Luck then shows his rust and doesn't run, tries to throw late... incomplete. 3rd and 15. We all know who messed up that play with mr old reliable as in... ill fumble at the most crucial of times.

road games coming up in Was, Philly and New England. :sigh:

Agree on the screen pass calls, not sure we had a successful one all day. For the most part I think the olime had a really good day, just not in the screen game. Other play calls were the amount of up the middle runs against a very stout front 7 with our oline and rookie backs. Not a recipe for success there. I think the youngins ran better outside 9f the tackles. The defensive penalties were huge and Hooker got roasted by one of the best wr in the game. Crucial mistakes by our veteran leaders, ALs pick in the red zone, TY dropped a straight dime, and of course the game ender by Doyle. Tough way to lose. There were a lot of positives and optimism has returned.

We have a young inexperienced defense that is not good yet.

There are plenty of teams that give up big leads that have much more experience and chemistry than our defense does. Starting with the Steelers giving up a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter to the Browns today.
