He can definitely tackle that's for sure.

Seems like Indy rarely has those type guys that knock the snot out of people. Nice to see. Just hope he stays healthy.

That will be an issue because he has to nave high speed collisions to clean up the other side's running game

Sounds reminiscent of Bob Sanders.  A punisher that just needs to stay healthy.

Exactly my point.

He's definitely a punishing type hitter.

I'd definitely take his lack in coverage skills if he keeps blowing guys/plays up.

As far as I can remember our deep secondary guys have made way too many tackles over the years.

I remember Bethea always having MLB type tackle numbers every year. Shouldn't be that way, but not much we can do.

Geathers sure did make a Linebacker tackle on that last play to win the game for us, stout hit on Murray

Wouldn't mind seeing Geathers as one of our ILB's down the road if Green continues to improve and as long as the Colts can fill the void once Mike Adams leaves.

Geathers and Edwin Jackson paired together could be the future of the Colts at MLB.

Adams had a decleating hit today that was very Colonel Bob Sanders like. Geathers is a thumper though. As well as Green. The closest thing I've seen to a Bob Sanders like seek and destroyer is Edwin Jackson. That guy closes fast and with bad intentions. I can't remember seeing that kind of speed and thump in our LB corp in a long time...

I think Gathers and Edwin Jackson both play the "other" inside backer spot next to the Mike...

I think they'd be both in the "will" spot....       not sure how often they'd be on the field at the same time, if at all....

Perhaps others can chime in?

They were both on the field in base D much of the day yesterday.

When Edwin sees something he just blacks out and flies to the football with head busting on his mind.  I like the kid!  He's a really good tackler.

I never said he doesn't deserve some criticism. Of course he does. But he also deserves credit for guys like Hilton, Doyle, Geathers, and others.

Yes, he does.  He has had numerous good early round picks:  Luck, Hilton, Mewhort, Moncrief, Anderson, Geathers;  Kelly, Green and Ridgeway look to be great picks this year too.

But he has missed on way too many early round picks to keep his job.  He's blown 3 first rounders in a row (Werner, Trade For Trent Richardson, Dorsett).  That is unacceptable and should cost him his position.

It would not have bothered me a bit if Irsay  had made a change last off-season. But he didn't, so we live with it. We all know the bad and good of Grigson's record, he's not going anywhere soon, so why not enjoy the half-full glass?

That's not that unusual though. Those guys can sit back and see the entire play develop from their position, and the good ones can react and be down in the tackle box almost instantly. As good as the LB corps for some of those really good Baltimore defenses were, Ed Reed still led the Ravens in tackles a couple of times.

I think it's premature to call Dorsett a missed pick.

    • Colts are blessed to have such a great owner !
    • Okay, I know this is a Mr. Obvious post, but bear with me.  What else do you have to do during the dead season, lol?   As a Buckeye, I appreciate how good CJ Stroud is.  In MHO CJ had better WRs and RBs when he was at THE OSU than he has in Houston.   So how did TTUN beat us (bad) two years in a row when he was in Columbus?  Simple, their Offense was way better than our Defense.   Bottom line - the Colts D doesn't have to be great.  Average will be good enough - IF the Colts offense is as good as we think it could be and play ball control, has extended drives, and limits the other teams possessions.  And maybe that's the plan considering Ballard not being too concerned with improving the DB rooms.   (Sure, it would be nice to have a great D.  No argument there)
    • Hey Everyone,   So, I just caught wind of Goodson's apology letter after dropping that short pass from Minshew against the Texans last season. Here's my humorous take on the situation:   "Dear Fans, Coaches, Teammates, and Supporters,   I'm writing to apologize for buttering up that short pass in the most critical moment against the Texans. Look, I know I'm the backup running back, but hey, I'm usually good for catching those short throws - emphasis on 'usually'. My bad for turning a routine play into a blooper reel moment.   To my teammates, sorry for making you wonder if I was secretly playing for the other team. Next time, I'll practice catching more than just footballs thrown by the water boy.   To the coaches, maybe let's reconsider throwing short passes to guys who have hands that are more slippery than a greased pig at the county fair. Just a suggestion.   And to the fans, thanks for turning my drop into a meme. I promise to work on my catching skills so I can make highlights, not lowlights, next season.   Sincerely, Goodson (aka the running back who should stick to running)"   Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but you get the gist. Let's hope Goodson has been hitting those catching drills hard this offseason!
    • I remember looking for highlights of TJ after we drafted him.  I kept finding videos of him following OJ Howard into the endzone.  Not sure if Howard was his responsibility, but it didn't paint a promising picture.
    • Ballard,   So, yeah, about that whole "bust" thing—I guess the cat's out of the bag. Turns out, I'm more of a popcorn fart than a thunderclap. My bad.   When you drafted me, I thought I was gonna be the Colts' next big thing. You know, sacking quarterbacks, making highlight reels, maybe even getting my face on a cereal box someday. But instead, I've been about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.   I've watched the tapes, Coach. I've seen the memes. They're comparing my NFL career to a hangover—starts off with high hopes, and ends with regret and a lot of Gatorade. And honestly, I get it. I'm like that guest who shows up to a party uninvited and ends up eating all the chips.   So, here's my mea culpa. I apologize for not living up to the hype. For every missed tackle, every missed sack, and that one time I accidentally tackled our own quarterback in practice (sorry, Philip). I'm like the guy who brings a guitar to a party and insists on playing Wonderwall—I'm annoying and not nearly as good as I think I am.   But hey, I'm not giving up. I'm hitting the gym, studying film (mostly bloopers at this point), and practicing my touchdown dance for when pigs finally fly. I promise to work harder and maybe, just maybe, I'll redeem myself and earn my place in the Hall of Mediocrity.   Thanks for believing in me, and letting me live my dream for 4 years straight whilst simultaneously producing nothing for your team. I'll make you proud yet, even if it's just by being the team's MVP of Bust Central, and we aren't talking bronze heads.    Sincerely, Ben "The Bust" Banagous (Not sponsored by Gatorade yet, but a guy can dream)
