Track Guy
Aside from his abusive incident presenting not only a moral quandary but guaranteeing a huge distraction for the team... He was a player in sharp decline. The products not there on the field and I think I'd even rather sign Richie Incognito than Rice. I don't know Ray personally or anything but the media storm isn't worth a mediocre back.
The Old Crow
I think it would be a good signing , as Ray deserves a second chance, but I think Irsay's daughters would nix it.
NewColtsFan
That's not entirely true. I don't condone striking any woman, but if Michael Vick can come back from an illegal dogfighting ring & animal cruelty in this league, I don't think it's fair to say that Ray Rice is "toxic." We are trying to find a back who can produce yards on the field. I'm not gonna hold 1 domestic dispute over Rice's head forever like he's the antichrist or something. I wouldn't sign him right now, but I'd bring him in for a workout just to see how he moves on the field & where his head is at psychologically. I wanna do whatever I have to to win & sometimes I'd take guys with legal mistakes who are determined to prove or re-prove themselves over a locker room of swell, choir boys who can't close the deal & win changing of the guard statement games. I am not slamming any Colts players from sunday night BTW; I'm just saying a few guys with checkered pasts can be a valuable asset when they receive a fresh start somewhere else. I apologize if I came off abrasive here NCF. I get your point & I do respect you immensely. It just bothers me when the media won't allow a guy to fix his life & they pigeon hole him with the forever damaged goods label. If I made 1 colossally horrific mistake, I would hope that society would forgive me eventually & not treat my infraction like a permanently symbolic albatross around my neck. JMO. I'm not saying "No!" forever.... But for right now, I think the answer is no. I agree he deserves a 2nd chance. And I'm sure he'll get it. But I think it comes..... next year. Everyone needs time for things to cool off. Next year, I'm not sure if it will be the Colts, or another team? If I had to guess, it would be another team. But Rice's 2nd chance will come in 2015... As you noted, if Michael Vick can get a 2nd chance, so can Ray Rice. And I agree.
Ken S.
Lmaooooo at all of the saints in here who never made a mistake and say that this guy doesn't deserve another chance at his profession. Geeeessh. Anyway, I'm not saying that we should sign him. But the fact that some fans think he doesn't deserve another chance at his profession is ridiculous. And if you chose to stop being a fan because you are so high and mighty and you don't make mistakes, well then, that's the kind of fan I don't want for this team anyway. Vick has been a great voice and advocate for the dog(animal) community since the horrific acts that he committed. So to think that good can't come out of bad sometimes is just dumb. In fact it's a mass under reaction on your part to shrug and carry on. I'm for second chances based on what your first strike was. Ray Rice should be limited to bathroom cleanup at a Waffle House. And I agree.I think it's an non issue for most teams anyway given Rice's age & the RB position is done by committee now among 2-3 backs to share the workload. The days of lone franchise backs like AP in Minnesota, Murray in Dallas for the most part, & Terrell Davis in Denver under HC Mike Shanahan are pretty rare now. The strange thing for me is this: Just like Curtis Painter taught me the value in having a quality backup QB; TR taught me the value in not wasting a draft pick on a less than stellar trade. Also as much this is a passing league now, a quality RB who gets 4 yards on average is more vital than ever to me now just to protect my franchise QB. Geeeessh. Vick has been a great voice and advocate for the dog(animal) community since the horrific acts that he committed. So to think that good can't come out of bad sometimes is just dumb. There's making a mistake on one end of the spectrum, and then there is hitting a woman on the other end. Vick is a piece of trash and a waste of valuable oxygen. The only true justice in the world for him would be to be eaten alive by Wolves, but I wouldn't wish that on the wolves. So because he's an advocate for dogs now that means all the dogs he tortured and killed came back to life and are happy in good homes? Nothing he can do will change what he did, he should still be in jail. Ray Rice shouldn't be allowed in Indiana, let alone be paid ludicrous amounts of money to play for a professional football team. Derakynn
Unless he is an o-lineman, it isn't going to matter. Trent or Boom will hit the holes if they are there, just like Rice would. But they aren't doing anything spectacular without better line play.
Mr.Debonair
We don't need another slow RB. I don't when the last time we had a back that could pop one for 60+ yards. A game breaker, somebody with speed to burn.

But they aren't doing anything spectacular without better line play.Good point Derakynn. Maybe we need to create the a great o-line just like Dallas did over multiple drafts. Sigh...Man, it makes my stomach turn to give Dallas credit for anything. However, even I've gotta admit a great o-line makes everything on offense flow more smoothly. I won't blame Grigs for the TR trade because he was trying to solidify our chances of winning faster, but from here on out please build our roster through the draft not trades or free agency. I approved of the TR trade initially & I was wrong. I freely admit that. All I'm saying here is learn from your mistakes Grigs. Maybe this SNF loss will force us all to take a good hard look at what our weaknesses truly are. Pull the curtain back & shine a light on all our glaring deficiencies for our own good. Division titles are meaningless if we get eliminated quickly in the playoffs. I want rings plural not ah shucks maybe next year excuses again. At the end of the day, it comes down to the rich people who have the cool jobs have to protect their image, so the ones that make a mistake can't have a similar job and tarnish it. Fine...you pay for them...you feed them, cloth them, and raise their kids. Don't send me the bill for those expenses just so a bunch of elitists don't get their image tarnished. A rich league, a rich team, a rich owner, rich media hosts, and elitist social media twits kick Rice and his FAMILY (his wife and kid(s) need income) to the streets...all to protect their image. How low can these social do-gooders go?
nburgmei
I'll add my resounding "No!" to everyone else here... Right now Ray Rice is politically radioactive. He's toxic. And it's questionable how much tread is left on the tires. We have to look elsewhere.....I'd suggest that elsewhere include offensive linemen. mintor
With Bradshaw season in jeopardy and Richardson haven't prove much of his worth, the Colts should consider signing Ray Rice. With Coach Pagano connections with the Ravens, this seems like the perfect fit. Here a little article explaining the 5 reasons: http://www.nj.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/11/5_reasons_ray_rice_should_sign_with_the_indianapolis_colts_after_being_reinstated.html he better then richardson. ProblChld32
Has he been re-instated to the league? is he not still suspended. Dr. Guildo
No. I think that along with Richardson and Boom Herron they should just bring in Demps who I believe is currently on the practice squad. Indeee
I think at this point adding rice couldn't hurt if he is reinstated and as long as it's a remainder of year deal and nothing long term. I realize there are a lot of people that disagree based on the domestic violence deal and it's understandable, however WE all make mistakes. Once I was involved in domestic violence involving my girlfriend. Drinking was involved and when it was over I pleaded no contest locally and was given probation for 2 years first offence. I had never been involved in domestic abuse of any sort leading up to this incident and have not since. Not planning ever again either. It was an evening that I wish I had back and it was a moment that got away from me. I understand the video evidence makes it harder to forget/forgive. I just think that Rice like myself, lost himself in one moment in time and deserves a second opportunity to make it right. Sometimes bad things happen with good people
