AFC defensive player of the week?

JJ has been named AFC defensive player of the week?? How can this be?? This must be an error...right??? This has to be an AI thing. Our forum GMs wanted him replaced.

It was the Bears. Match him against literally any QB and WR of marginal skill difference, and I guarantee he isn’t even in the realm of conversation for this.

With that being said: congrats to Jones.

The expert forum GMs are having a tough couple of weeks:

Oline rated best in league

JJ is named AFC defensive player of the week

Cross leads league in tackles

C'mon Ballard!!! Do better!!!!

Olline is pretty good and maybe in the conversation as one of the better but not sure of elite status yet. JJ played a horrible Bears offense and a rookie qb. He was in the right place at the right time. Having your safety leading the league in tackles is a testament to how bad your front 7 has been playing. It is not a testament to how good Cross is. However, Cross is exceeding my expectations but he hasnt really been tested in pass coverage

Some just can’t take being wrong.  JJ’s two ints were huge and dare I say it the secondary has been the strength of the defense through three games.

If we wernt getting torched by RBs the first two games, our secondary would not be the "strength". They got torched by Caleb Williams that went for almost 400 yards on them... by far a strength.

Of the line, the linebackers, and secondary which group has played the best of the three through three games?  I am not saying they are world beaters by any means but they have been the best group of the three layers of the defense through three games.

Now if Richardson  is named offensive  player of the week versus steelers defense  they you can make a statement  like this.

Cross leading the league in tackles isn't a good thing.  Good for JJ!  Those 2 INTs were game changers (even if it was against the Bears).

I just wish he didn't have so many opportunities.  Let's switch that ToP number!

Good for him.  He earned it. Why can’t people just be happy for someone that did well? This nonsense about if it was against anyone else.  Well, he did it against who the Colts were playing.  It’s like when someone takes away the best 2-3 plays a player makes and says their stats aren’t very good without them. Well, games come down to 2-3 plays all the time. Be happy people.

Damn give credit when credit is due some of you guys are unbearable lol.

I did give him credit. But I’m not acting like he picked Mahomes or Rodgers off twice. He picked off a dude that had his best game against our secondary and had more yards and touchdowns in that game than the previous two combined.

That’s like playing dodgeball against the kids in Billy Madison. It means nothing.

The first INT was great footwork. Jones was on that second one before Williams let it go. Like taking a home run hack at a fat curveball.

It's well-deserved for JJ, but the victory lap stuff after one game seems really unnecessary. It's a long season.

And it's true that Williams is a rookie in his 3rd game...playing behind a terrible OL. The Colts took advantage...and that's a good thing.

But I was actually surprised how good he looked after only seeing bits of the first two weeks. If he can start hitting some of those passes he missed, he is going to be fun to watch. Glad he's in the NFC.

Sometimes this can be the strangest fanbase I have ever seen. Dude wins AFC Defensive Player of the Week and some are saying - It's only the Bears though. It is hard to win in the NFL no matter who you play. It seems like every time we win a game, some in here don't appreciate it. Crap is getting old. Some people are just miserable.

 A sad lot hangs here.

#1 he was 100% at catching the ball.

Two turnovers A+

He was right where he needed to be to make a huge play.

The difference between Leonard being All-Pro and a marginal pro bowler.

Again, let's judge him for the season, particularly in December.

Any of you whiney genius's have a clue how often Jalen Ramsey gets burned? Nooo.

The kid is a play maker.  He is only going to get better as he learns to read and react better.  That will come with more playing time.  That’s what Kenny and Blackmon are good at.  Read and react.  That will give us three in the secondary.  Cross is the hit man.  I think our secondary is developing nicely.

So despite what some said Ballard might not be a complete fool?

So if Sauce Gardner were to get 2 INTs against the bears, would you guys still say “but it was against the bears”?

So if he got torched, then what would it be, he sucks?  The thing about being fair, is if you have time to criticize a player, you have to be there to praise them also.  It’s ok to eat crow, we have had our plates.

He wasn’t really known for his turnover ability in college to be quite honest with you. He also isn’t a guy that has real good ball skills like Kenny and Julian. I will say it looks like he has improved from year one to year two, he didn’t have a single INT last year. Here’s hoping to more development from him in year 2.

In modern era of spread offences, RPO concepts, mixed coverages and all that pattern reading/matching stuff safety is not just 3rd line of defence against man, running the football. How playing well in space against pass-catchers (and tackling them) depends on front 7 playing good or bad?

That’s nice, but some of you sure forgot how ugly his tape from weeks 1 and 2 were real quick.

Week 3 was the exception, not the rule. 🤷🏻‍♂️

But even the great Sneed of the Titans didn't have two picks against the Bears in game 1.

    • 5 to 10, let's do it again (or do it for the first time!!)
    • If they play man AR will burn them. Young QB usually struggle with zone as we seen last week.  You are correct. You run towards watt. That’s how we neutralized him last season.   This doesn’t seem like it will be the week where the secondary is tested but if Kenny cant go it could be different. Our dline depth is being tested.
    • The NFL is a passing league.  Running is for killing the clock, for which you need to have a running game/RB powerful enough to run the ball when the opposing D knows you are going to run the ball.  Teams don't really need a big play running game. That is a separate issue from ARs play.   Since last year was a throw away year that followed a 4-12 season to focus on ARs development , that we did not get, this year should be that year.  Why would there be any complaints about that?   But, there needs to be better time of possession so AR can get more reps, not because we should be winning games in a season where we still don't have good enough personnel to contend for anything beyond a weak AFC South division title.
    • Good work, I dont agree with a few things, but thanks for the read   IMHO   We have depth for future and current very good OL We have depth and good starters at WR I THINK that we have 2-3 decent players at TE   I see our same 5 next year on OL   2 Years from now? The rookies this year will fill in     On Defense   We need interior DL help in the draft next year I hope we go early and get a blue chip   After week 1 and 2, I was ready to dump both LBs Week 3 they both played better, but I am ready for some new players in the offseason   I admit I was wrong about our safety room. Our two starters are decent players We need depth   At CB we need to add depth as well, And if a stud CB is available in round 2 or 3, I am fine with it       I really feel bad for Pittman, he needs an accurate QB to shine   Maybe AR can become that guy   (I hope)
    • JT is over 100 yards in each of the last two games.   He is the reason they beat the Bears.  He needs more touches though.   I agree
