Anybody that thinks we should tank is off their rocker. This isn't 2011 where we had a crappy roster. We have a good roster and telling guys like TY Hilton, Eric Ebron, Mack, Nelson, Hooker, Houston, and Leonard to tank is just stupid. Give Brissett a chance.

Once again Ballard backs his talk with his walk. Brissett has done everything asked of him. He is now in the position to lead his team in 2019-20. The QB room needs a vet to share views with the starter. Hoyer fills that role. Jacoby gets paid for coming in hot to cover in a dire situation, taking a pounding, being a leader, and not flinching. He is a good QB with room to improve.

 

Well done for all involved.

This move also helps with chemistry. The players know Ballard is serious about winning and he backed up his talk about believing in Jacoby.

But 2 years extension for $30M? That's practically 3 years for $32M. That's a good veteran backup money. If Ballard wanted to retain Brissett (behind Luck) next year, he'd have to pay similar money.

 

Brissett will start for one year, for a backup money. Then he'll either be an extremely cheap starter (if he proves himself), or he'll be one of the better veteran backups - for the right price.

 

This makes perfect sense in my opinion.

No,   it includes this year.    He is under contract through the 2020 season.    So 15 mill per the next two seasons.

JB would of been stupid to wait until after the season. He could of lost a lot of money. If after 2020 he proves he is the franchise QB he will get franchise money. Good spot for both the team and him.
