So who is Peyton Manning rooting for Sunday ?

Why is this even a question. Of course he is rooting for his brother....wouldn't you? I'm sure he wishes the Colts success but he isn't going to choose them over family...nor should he. I'm sure he will be in the Mara box with his family and Eli's. That said he will probably be doing plenty of autographs and meet and greats for us Colts fans....he is always very gracious!

 

One thing is for sure...he probably will have the basement reserved at St. Elmo's....that there can be no doubt lol.

I think so. But then it was just a matter of "when not if."

 

I actually thought it could make sense to see something like that happen...for Peyton to be involved in the organization at a high level. But unless they were super sly about it...doesn't look to be the case.

Everybody's itching for him to do the next thing, and it seems like he's in no hurry. He's doing just what he said he would do in retirement: a little of this, a little of that, going to games, etc. He's definitely not hurting for money, so there's no rush to take a job.

 

I think if he starts to get the itch, he'll have no shortage of offers. I thought he was getting geared up to rescue MNF from the clown show, but ESPN is apparently doubling down on the Ringling Bros for 2019. And he's doing his Detail breakdowns with no interference, picking the games he wants to analyze, and doesn't have to leave home to do it.

 

And if he wants a front office gig, any number of teams would create a position specifically for him. I don't see Irsay giving him authority over Ballard, though.

Yeah...not at this point. Maybe when Ballard first got here...but not now. 

 

Now if Peyton started working under Ballard (ala Elway in DEN) for a few years...that could be different. But I don't think he would have to take that path. Another team (like TEN) would likely offer him a Team President job straight away...or something to that effect.

 

The team ownership piece is a different conversation and much more complicated. We just don't know if Irsay (or any team) would be willing to carve out a piece to Manning. If a team is for sale...that's probably his best chance.

 

As for the MNF crew...at least get rid of the stupid platform. Makes no sense to have a member of the crew isolated on a moving platform during games.

Teaming up with Kobe for those Analysis videos is super smart! Get a check for doing some light video editing and commentary....brilliant and people eat it up. He will have no limit in the amount of side work and commercials in the future. If he wants to go the Joe Montana route instead of the Dan Marino or Trent Dilfer route...more power to him! He is much closer of a business man to Roger Staubach then say Troy Aikman. Plus he alienates no one doing the work that he does. The last Nationwide commercial with Brad Paisley "What cord is that?....not to high for me!" lol....pure comedy gold!

I just don't get why a team would give Manning the top dog position right away. He has zero experience. Irsay theoretically could have brought Manning in when he fired Grigson, but he went with a guy who has been preparing for this job for several years. He made a football decision.

 

In Elway's case, the Broncos were listless for a few years and needed help. They had previously fired Shanahan, had just fired McDaniels, and it seemed like Bowlen didn't want to continue to be as involved in the day to day. Elway was brought in as a figurehead as he learned the ropes, then a couple years later he took over the day to day and fired Brian Xanders. Still, while he was basically at the top of the food chain, he wasn't given autonomy over football operations from day one.

 

At this point, it appears Ballard has brought the entire operation into harmony, and he's in charge of it all. I can't see how Manning would fit in a higher up position. And it's unlikely that he'd come on as Ballard's deputy, if Dodds or Hogan leaves, although that would probably be the best way for him to start out, IMO.

 

Maybe Irsay makes room for him in the ownership group, but if Manning wants to really get involved in the football operation, it doesn't seem like Indy is the right fit for him at this point.

I agree on his relevancy but I never bought in to the statue from day one.

      I just knew there was going to be a run on WRs later in the first.   welp, hoping we trade up for either AD (character concerns and all) or Troy Franklin.   there is no way we can leave this draft not drafting some type of burner in this deep WR draft.     Welp, can’t be too mad.  We can’t pick ‘em all and I’m ok with who we picked.

      I haven't paid much attention to the draft and looking OR making mocks 'cause with Ballard you usually will be disappointed...... like most on this Forum are tonight. Lol   But I wasn't surprised by a defensive linemen being picked. I didn't think he would go CB or trade up for a elite receiver or Bowers would fall to 15. And honestly I know noting about Latu  except a few highlights I seen switching from the draft and Yankee game.  I liked the highlights but not crazy about the conference he played in and  his medical history.   I was hoping for Bowers but not surprised he's not a colt especially when Denver chose the last QB and the raiders were right behind them. I heard the raiders liked Bowers and with no QB left to possibly sway them I had a feeling they would grab him. We all know it was unlikely Ballard would trade up for him(even if he had him high on his board?)   Kudos for the bears getting a great prospect, I hope they don't mess him up.  And to the Patriots for getting imo the second best QB. The Falcons getting Pence for life after Cousins(which may be sooner than later) I think was a good move.

      I mean, i kinda ma because in year 4 Trey had 13.5 sacks and probably way more pressures than paye has had in year 4.  Paye has one more year to show he can be the pass rusher we need.     and only reason why Trey was being compared to Paye is because someone else brought him.  There is honestly no comparison when it comes to their year 4s
