Dorsett is a great WR, a Hilton clone. The problem is WR was not a need. It wasn't why we loss to the Patriots. Grigson already had his mind made up, he wanted Dorsett from the start.

The Colts were beaten by the Pats due to several factors.  One of them was the fact that nobody was getting open.  At all.

T.Y. was doubled and Revis shut down Wayne/Moncrief.

How can any defense account for Dorsett, Hilton, Moncrief, and Johnson?  I mean that is an absolute nightmare.

And we still have several picks left to address other needs.

Yeah why bother to fix problems with best players available?? I'm surprised we didn't draft a backup QB with the 29th pick. Pats sit back with the LAST pick in the draft and get the #12 ranked player and a position we needed to fill.

Who had Brown at #12?

still 8 picks left...let's see... a TE, PK, Punter, QB, another WR and finally in the 6, 7th round a dishrag Safety and maybe a Center... and we wonder why we can't beat he Pats. We are going to win the regular season again, score a 1,000 pts and then get our butt run over again.

Sick of the whole "Building the Monster" nonsense they keep trying to shove down our throat. We are not, not, not physical, still trying win with finesse. Same old, same old... same old results. Irsay is a fool if he thinks this will get us over the hump. (he's a fool anyway, but more so)

This is why this forum is one of the worst in the entire league. The Colts deserve a better one.

No...we all deserve a better defense.  Tired of seeing us get plowed through year after year and do nothing substantive to improve ourselves.  Colts management knows nothing about defense...just offense.

I don't much care for BPA. If you don't have any huge holes, sure why not.

But we do. And there were some very solid options. Yet we take a player at a position I would say is really our second stronger unit on the team behind QB.

No one in this thread has called Dorsett a bum. No one has claimed, or even insinuated he can't play.

We just didn't need him.

Not even remotely.

they are sheep

They'll chant #trustgrigs straight off a cliff if he wanted them to

From NFL.com:

"Takes the top off the defense and throws it in the trash. Elite explosiveness. Gets to top speed quickly and is a seamless glider on crossing routes, leaving man-to-man defenses in his wake. Can work outside and from the slot. Elevates and attacks contested catches. Outstanding body control and can adjust to the ball in mid-air. Mind-boggling big-play production with half of his catches going for 25-plus yards in 2014. More than just a vertical-only receiver and has the blazing feet and stop-start to beat zone coverage for big plays."

"Dorsett is an ascending prospect who has averaged more than 25 yards per catch since 2012. He can challenge teams vertically inside or outside and he has home-run potential after the catch as a slot receiver. With smaller wide receivers like T.Y. Hilton and Antonio Brown proving that small and fast can win in the NFL, Dorsett should be coveted by more than one team and has the potential to turn into a star in the NFL."

right but we also lost to the pats, steelers and some other teams because our Defense couldn't stop the run. And to hope that some mid or late round draft picks can solve all problems and develop into pro browlers is just dumb. sorry grigson is gambling too much!

The biggest factor was because we couldn't stop the run or sack Brady. Offense was great last year without Dorsett. Gregory or Brown should have been the pick.

I don't even get how this pick makes sense. Unless they're pretty much expecting to lose TY next year.

Why can't we have both? This makes no sense, Hilton's contract is running up, Dorsetts will just be beginning. I can understand the, "But we have other needs and good players were there" argument, but there is no reason we can't resign Hilton next year and have Dorsett on the field too. This is classic overreacting by everyone.

Colts FO thought he was BPA I assume. Based on every player available, defense included, they probably thought he wasn't gonna suck. We took Werner because of a need, not BPA, look how that turned out.

I see no one here saying this kid sucks.

probably Werner was BPA for Grigson?

Yeah, we have various picks left, but being honest it's less likely to find quality starters as those picks go on. It's a dangerous roll of the dice.

Take a WR who we may be able to get 500 yards and 3 TD's, or a safety who can help our defense as a whole?

It just doesn't make sense unless we are phoning it in now and are not going to make an attempt to keep Hilton, or we're going to move on from Johnson after this season.

The patriots are laughing at us right now. How can you draft a WR without seeing how Moncrief does this year? You go out and sign Carter and TY has another year and by that point we might need a WR but right now the patriots are the team to beat and we are continuing to make the same mistakes every year. We need to run the ball and stop the run, even a safety or a linebacker if not in the trenches.

You guys deserve a better forum without the ridiculous mods that are here... and the disgusting people/homophobes who are not even a part of the fans of this team, but of a certain other team. After that is fixed we can talk football. I knew you guys would all be talking about how bad Grigson is instead of discussing the pick. Terrible place.

Let this sink in for a moment.

Last year our worst unit was the entire front 7.

Since then- we lost our best front 7 player, and replaced him with a 30 year old backup from a bad team.

Ha

Ahah

Ha

Who's our best front 7 player? Redding? Langford is better, you forgot to mention a back-up on one of the best front lines in the league... Also Trent Cole > Cory Redding, plus we get Mathis back, Newsome should improve, and Art Jones was probably our best front 7 player last season.

    • Yeah, Ebukam almost looks clumsy next to Latu. He's just so fluid.
    • Did Hou actually get that much better? This really does remain to be seen. I am of the opinion that the signing of Diggs is a signing that has been made about 2 years too late. He won't be bad, but he isn't a top 10 WR in the NFL anymore. I wouldn't put him as any more dangerous that Pittman, so WR's are a push. We have the better RB, Mixon is great and all, but he is not JT. We have the better Oline, and it isn't even close. TE's are a push, we have a lot of upside, but until it is realised im very "meh" on our TEs. QB - I would argue that Stroud is probably more likely to regress to the mean in year 2 vs improve. That rookie season of his was a bit silly, and they had an easier schedule last season too. If he really does build on last year and get even better, then our entire discourse here is probably irrelevant as we will have another Mahomes level QB on our hands to deal with in the AFC and within the AFC South no less. So unless Richardson is also a Mahomes level talent in that scenario, we are done for anyways. To me, our success in this coming season comes down to 2 groups on this entire team. 1. The QB (because... duh) 2. Our DBs. If we even get average play from the DBs, I think this team has the ability to win the whole damned thing (supposing Richardson stays healthy and is what we all hope he is). I would also argue that Houston are paper thin. If they lose a OL starter, Mixon or even one of their starting WRs.... they have a very big drop off. And injuries happen in the NFL. Just sayin...
    • If he wasn’t fast enough or athletic enough anymore for linebacker, then he’s not going to be able to cut it at Safety where speed , quickness, athleticism are even more important.    Wish it wasn’t so….
    • could he be another bob sanders at that position?
    • Man I love me some Maniac, but it won't happen, and he's too slow after his surgeries.
