Any free agents you are interested in for the Colts?

First of all, we are being realistic. We are not getting any big names. Von Miller will resign with the Broncos anyway. LOL.

Just some players i noticed that maybe they can get at a bargain price (except Norman):

C Ryan Wendell - Patriots

RB - Blount - Patriots - Patriots always have a solution at RB so i doubt they worry about resigning him. Him and Gore+a speedy RB at 3rd...the end of the world.

DT - Terrance Knighton - Redskins - Art "Glass" Jones is not dependable.

G - Alex Boone - 49ers - Who doesnt want to leave San Francisco? Didnt this man help block for Gore?

CB - Josh Norman - Panthers - One can only wish plus his attitude doesnt fit with the Colts.

Let's just hope we do this right this time....

I would also like Alex Mack at Center-Cleveland I believe his contract is up and has a no franchise tag clause.  Making him an unrestricted free agent.

Once Alex Mack opts out of his contract in Cleveland.. that's who we need to get on this offensive line. Maybe sign Boone to play guard. That would be a huge upgrade for the offensive line..

If they're going to go all in on a unit,  please make it the offensive line!  Grigs needs to go aggressive. This unit needs at least 3 new starters >>>C,RG,RT

CB: Sean Smith, or Casey Hayward, or Janoris Jenkins

OL: Wisnewski, and/or Osemele/ or Mack (not sure he would opt out of his contracts to take a pay cut)

I forgot Hayward was a FA. He makes the most sense tbh considering how bad Pagano wanted him in the draft.

Yes, I don't know how GB feels about him, but since the Grigs/Pags duet is back, I bet they take a serious look.

Blount sabotaged his own release out of Pitt and that's after getting arrested along with their best runningback and suspended for two games. No thanks. Would rather kick the tires on Chris Ivory and Ahmad Bradshaw again. I would take Norman's attitude any day if he wins us games. 15-1 and a cocky attitude is what this defense needs.

Norman would be too expensive.  The man is going to be looking to set the market on a CB contract this year.  He'd take half our available cap money to sign.

Blount has a bad attitude and apparently only Bill Belichek knows how to control him.  I'd rather not see him here.

Why would we sign Knighton when we have David Parry who's playing well?

I am curious to see whom Indy's new OC (Chud is my guess?) and DC are and what are their schemes? It will play a role in what FA's would fit. A quick question, does anybody know if Chud prefered or used a ZBS as opposed to the Man to Man Scheme Pep installed? It would make a difference in who would fit in regards to the Offensive Line?

I was curious about this as well, so did a little digging last night.  It seems that Chud's offense is actually very similar to the Bruce Arians offense.  Power man blocking with Air Coryell passing concepts.

Thank you, I was looking around myself but you found out much more and I appreciate it! Btw, love the avatar!

I'm souring on the idea of signing a vet FA for rush LB.  Miller is too expensive (one injury away from messing up the cap).  I can't really explain it, but I get this feeling that the position is getting too high profile.  That the players may be getting the WR diva personality...all want their money but end up being overpaid.

I'd rather draft 2 or 3 OLBs this spring.

Trumaine Johnson (Very underrated, young cornerback. Would be perfect as a starter alongside Davis. 7 INTs and 71 tackles this past regular season. Think he'll be cheaper than Jenkins).

Kelechi Osemele (Perfectly rated. One of the best guards in the game. And unlike Mack, he is young.)

Eric Weddle or Tashaun Gipson if we're looking at safeties, though I'd prefer to take the draft route here.

Don't bite with Mo. Wilkerson, we have a good(not great ) but good DL.

We don't have a #2 CB and we need one right know also we need C/G.

I think we can get Moris Claiborne with a cheap 2 yrds deal we are a fit for him, man to man.

Also Mack can come but he is gonna ask too much as well as E. Weddle and Matt Forte. So no to neither of them, but if they ask for a fair deal go ahead although Weddle has decreased his level of play.

But Osemele doesn't sound bad he could be a true upgrade, also don't sleep with Jack as Center(i know that moving him wasn't a good idea a year ago but he was a pretty good center from HS).

Alex Boone can be a value sign if we can get him.

Terrance Knighton and Rolando McClain could be cheap and average to above average players.

My whislist:

Alex Boone, Moris Claiborne, Big Pot and McClain.

Sean Smith, Bruce Irvin or Tamba Hali, Kelechi Osemele, and Stefen Wisnewski.  We need like 4 good signings. Then a good backup QB.

I would add Lamar Miller and Eric Weddle if they come cheap enough on a 1 or 2 year deal.

Bringing in Mack would be nice. Then we could use a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick on a high-end C/G as well. We'd have a pro-bowl starter at center, and elite depth with youth on the interior of the offensive line. Wouldn't that be neat?

    • I'm wondering if Steichen has had a good influence on him, or if Ballard just had a change in philosophy. It could be as simple as Latu being the BPA on defense, so we'll see as the draft goes on today and tomorrow what type of players he takes. Definitely promising to see him take Latu over Turner though. I was cheering from my house when that happened.
    • My wife and I are both 30, but we feel like old people. I don't get the sunglasses indoors, TikTok dances, or constant selfies in public, but oh well. I suppose my kids will have a leg up in the job market when they've practiced communication skills rather than the dance of the week! 😂
    • I just want to point out that Ballard again told us the truth in his pre-draft presser. His answer to the question of whether he has changed anything in his draft philosophy, pretty much explains the Latu pick in view of him being a bit of a departure from what he's usually done (i.e. super high level athleticism, some projection of what the player can be vs what he is now)     "of course you look for unique talent, unique traits, ...character... but then also... on the flip side of that making sure that we are drafting not only the unique traits but also some substance with the tape"...    So yeah, I think this answer a very good explanation of that pick... "substance with the tape". Not that Latu is not athletic. He is, but his athleticism is not his selling point. The selling point is the substance - the technical refinement, the tape, the production.    With that said... I wonder if we will continue to see that on day 2 and day 3? Can we see one of the Ballard's lowest RAS drafts?
    • From @nsurg   "So he had a cervical fusion... this is a surgery I do frequently.  Once it heals the surgery is more or less the strongest part of the neck.  The biggest problems with a fusion in this context are:        (1) loss of nerve function prior to surgery may or may not recover after surgery, usually over the next 3-12 months (but his production after surgery implies no major concern on this)        (2) the patient will have somewhat accelerated wear/arthritis at non fused levels.  While this is a real concern, it will unfortunately be more of an issue for him later in life, after his NFL career.                 Peyton had this surgery as his final neck surgery before playing for the broncos, but his problem was number one above, he apparently never had the same arm strength as before.        Ahmad Bradshaw also had this same surgery in 2013, he already had I think 6 years of RB play prior to that.  His YPC held up but was utilized less, but this may mirror more a tapering RB career.                 I'm not personally worried about the medical status of this player, but I have no idea the actual details obviously.  I will say that very few surgeons would be eager to clear the player to play afterwards, mostly for the stupid liability things in medicine.                 I think it's fair to say we got a really nice pick here for value."   https://forums.colts.com/topic/76891-colts-select-laiatu-latu-edge-ucla/?do=findComment&comment=2646941
