the jags will beat the colts both times they meet and it want even be close

the jags are having a great FA year. they have taken care of their OL--they got a great wr--and have the 1st pick of the draft and will take the best elite DE

on the other hand the colts have 3 major concerns that will have to be addressed QB-DE and LT. we have to hit these 3 with at least an elite DE and LT

we will have to settle for a FA qb that will not be elite but if the OL is great we will have a chance but if there is no pass rush and the OL is average it will be a loss year

Yeah, but we have $70M in cap space!  So...winner...

Last year we watched as Ballard let the D-line become a weaker unit. The team suffered for it.

So far this year, our once great O-line has lost its starting RG, starting LT, and their replacements from last year remain unsigned (Pryor and Reed). As it stands (and of course this can change, it's still early), the O-line is weaker than it was last year, and they were bad last year.

I honestly don't know how we can come out of Free Agency without a quality LT, Edge Rusher, and WR.  (Not to mention QB).

Ballard knows anyone we get is going to be overpaid, and he's going to have to live with it.

I bet the colts beat em both times. It's sad that folks are throwing the Colts under the bus when free agency has just begun and we still have the draft.

Really!! they have the number one pick AGAIN and we could not beat them this year.

Let me poke a hole in your argument. Didn't we draft one of the elite DE prospects last year in Paye? So that is a wash in your argument. The Jags sucked for a number of years and had the ability to draft number one overall (again) to pick their 'franchise' QB. We haven't sucked during that time period.

And they WAY OVERSPENT on Kirk who is not a top-5 WR in the NFL even though (currently) he is to be paid as the 3rd Best WR in the League. He wasn't even the best WR on his previous team......let that sink in for a moment.

You see, when you are forced to sign a starting WR, a starting TE, a starting OG, a starting LB and a starting DT that means that you are not drafting well enough and are forced to spend 150+ million dollars to compensate for those mistakes - and who says all of these FA's will play up to their enormous contracts?

Draft wisely and build depth and THEN sign one or two key free agents that put you over the top. Having said that, a franchise QB fixes a lot of issues and ours retired in the 4th Quarter of our final pre-season game forcing this front office to tread water (using a solid overall roster) while they navigate the QB waters.

As I have said MULTIPLE times the choices made at QB were the best available options at that time EXCEPT for Tom Brady who was never going to sign with the Colts and the Stafford trade which we did not have a QB to send them as part of their demands!

They will figure it out or they will get fired and then we will likely suck for many years after that until we get lucky enough for the number one pick in the draft and actually have it pan out, which the odds are against that too!

Jags do this every year. Nothingbhere is new. They throw all this cash at "quality" free agents and everyone pegs them as a great team. Then, they have another losing season.

Yep, they’ve failed, but tried to upgrade the roster through FA.

The Rams went crazy and capitalized.

It’s always a risk, but fear shouldn’t deter a GM from taking a well balanced risk to get out of mediocrity.

It would be interesting to see a chart comparing position salaries (team-by-team or league average) as compared to salary cap over the period of the last 5-10 years.  It seems to me like veteran/franchise compensation keeps rising quicker than the salary cap does -- particularly (of course) at QB.

Mahomes is projected to comprise ~21% of the Chiefs' cap in 2023.  Josh Allen will get ~18% of the Bills' cap in 2023.  Aaron Rodgers will get ~16% of the Packers' cap in 2024.

2024 is the furthest year the cap is projected (at OTC, anyway).  But some of these contracts balloon big time in later years.

By comparison, in Manning's 4 years in Denver he comprised 14.9%, 12.5%, 12.3%, and 11.7% of the Broncos' cap space.

What?!  You mean we actually have to play the games before we lose them?  Sounded to me like we already lost...

I am still deciding if I want the Colts to win many games at all.   It'd be nice to have a top 5 pick to draft a potential franchise QB.   Ballard and Reich have screwed up the QB spot so bad, that it may be the only way out of this.

The past few years? We’ve been splitting games with them since the manning era man. Their games against us are their superbowls.

Luck retired ONE week before Week 1. He is a * for doing that lol. We had no option but Brissett at that point.

Extending Brissett was a very DUMB move by the FO. Giving slick the remaining part of his contract set us back too. Ballard talks about making players earn their contract & not overspending. He gives Brissett a $28 million dollar raise for zero reason. We reward Luck for spurning us.

The following year, we should have traded up for a QB or for a QB when there was not as many QB needy teams. How did they not plan the rest of the league needing QB’s such as NO, Tampa, Carolina, Detroit, Pittsburg, etc

Ballard is not a good gm and I really think he is arrogant inside but doesn't show it to the media

As it stands let's take a LT in rd 2, and a WR in 3.

Add Turay and Lewis and badabing...  It's just that easy.

I agree with you 1000 percent however i place more of the blame on Reich than Ballard. It started back during 2018 Frank did nothing but praise Brissett even in interviews he was telling them he's the best ever back up QB in the league then after Luck retires Frank had to eat crow cause Jacoby was not the star he had envisioned in 2019. Fast forward to 2020 there was a interview on pat show were he mentioned that Brady wanted to play for the colts right after leaving the pats but once again Frank wanted Rivers here because he didn't think Brady had anything left in the tank yeah see how well that aged. Then of course the Wentz drama was once again because of Frank who apologized to the Organization for bringing him here. yeah he's 100 percent the cause of our downfall

If Lawrence is any good which I’m not sure about, they will be much much better assuming they hit in that 1st pick.  They outplayed us 7 of 8 Quarters last year too.

See BB.  Some fans want us to have good players.  We are all confident that we will in fact have players at all positions next season. It’s just that some of us want good players.  Not just players.

So you say LT in round 2 and wR in round 3 without knowing who is still on the board?  Brilliant   Not sure why you aren't a GM yet   SMH
