Call me crazy, but what about Trading Fleener and signing Cameron?

Recommended Posts

Long story short...

Fleener is still on rookie deal and Cameron is gonna want the money. We lose.

Fleener is a second round pick who would fetch us MAYBE a fourth round pick(Julius Thomas being on the market drives down Fleener's value right now). We lose.

If the Colts did make this happen I don't foresee Cameron's numbers being much better, if at all, than Fleener's in an offense with so many weapons. We lose.

Yeah bro that's pretty crazy. First up, We have enough holes to fill this offseason without creating more. Second, Fleener is a really, really good TE. I know he's had his drops and what not, but he has and will continue to improve every single year. Don't be surprised if he isn't viewed as a top 10 TE next season BTW. I expect him to be personally.

Pretty big risk for a pretty low reward.

Jordan Cameron Career  (4 years)

47 games played - 130 catches out of 217 targets for 1600 yards, 10 TD's

Coby Fleener Career  (3 years)

44 games played - 129 catches out of 228 targets for 1663 yards, 14 TD's

Considering that their career stats are pretty similar and Fleener has played one full year less then Cameron. . . I'd rather have Fleener.

Cameron had 1 good year where he got 917 receiving yards.  He followed that up with 424 receiving yards.  Prior to that he had 2 pretty forgettable years of 33 yards his rookie year and 226 yards his 2nd year.

Fleener was pretty much option 2 this year after Hilton in terms of pass catching.
