The crowd is dead and I suspect the announcers are on life support.  The casual football fan is not going to like today's game.

I get it, boring game to cover. But hit a Red Bull and grow some wings lol...

Perhaps if we'd play with some balance on O, it would wake them up too...

And yet….    Somehow his PFF score is nearly 10 points higher this year than last.   You’d think he’d be doing something better?

His run blocking has been good, maybe it’s helping to alter the score? I honestly don’t know, just something I thought about

If I understand correctly he'll also get graded on plays that don't show up on the stat sheet. E.g. were you in the right position for what our understanding of the play call was. Covering you guy when no throw was made etc.

    • Note that this is NOT a sourced info. This is something a "former NFL executive" thought might be within Colts' interests...   "Former NFL executive" knows nothing about Ballard...
    • Not only that we have a couple of TEs that needs fed. For a rookie QB TEs are generally their first options.
    • I honestly feel like Young could still be in play. I think the Panthers take Stroud as he's more of what Reich likes in his QBs compared to Young and Richardson and I think the Texans would prefer Richardson because of his athleticism that's similar to Watson. If the draft goes that way, three then becomes interesting because the cards are in the driver's seat.

    • I think you are right. I've been leaning towards the boom or bust prospects for a while now. I guess I have my "type" of QB. Ideally you would have boom without much bust potential(Luck, Burrow, Lawrence?, Caleb Williams next year?), but those are somewhat rare and are no brainers thus not very controversial.  IMO the team with the bust guy will have a QB where they can run competent offense and develop their roster, too. They just won't spend a top 5 pick on him, but rather will likely get him for relatively cheap through FA as a backup/bridge for their boom or bust guy. In the current year, think Jacoby, Dalton, Jimmy G, Bridgewater, Baker Mayfield, Marcus Mariota, Minshew, Heinicke, etc. If the guy is a total bust he just won't play that long to impact the development of the roster much. The team will just get back to the bridge, we've seen this before.  Here I actually agree with you. The athleticism is nice, but the dynamic athlete QB needs to transcend his athleticism in order to reach the higher levels of his ceiling. He needs to develop reliable pocket game. He doesn't need to be at the level of a Joe Burrow as a pocket passer, but he needs to consistently make plays from the pocket and ultimately use his athleticism as a joker or a trump card when needed rather than as the go to for success. That's one of the things I like with Richardson... his natural instincts is to actually try to make a play with his arm when pressured before he runs. Now, he's special athlete so when he runs it results in positive plays more often than not, but unlike many super athletes at the position he does keep his eyes downfield and looks for the pass before he takes off. Now, he needs to get better at making an accurate pass in those situations(and in general too)...    That's a question for me with Stroud, though... like the evidence is actually against him being able to make plays out of structure. Maybe he does have the athelticism(he refused to test, so we don't know for sure)... Lets assume he does have the athleticism - does it matter that he has it if he doesn't use it? IMO in the modern NFL defenses are too fast and too athletic for QBs to be reliant strictly on in pocket movement and playmaking. He got pressured on just 20% of his snaps in college(the other 3 top QBs were at about 35%). He will never have that low of a pressure rate in the NFL over a season.  Ironically, the last of the traditional pocket passers who was able to become a franchise QB and is still in the NFL is very likely Matt Ryan. Those are just a dying breed. He was drafted 15 years ago. We haven't really seen a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Philip RIvers or Matt Ryan come into the league and be really successful in the league recently. The new pocket passers become Jimmy G, Jared Goff, Mac Jones and Kirk Cousins... they don't become Peyton Manning/Tom Brady/Philip Rivers or hell even Matt Ryan. Now is this a question of talent(the new ones are not as talented as the previous generation) or a result of the changing landscape of the NFL, where even really talented pocket passers just cannot break through into the elite level QBs?
