The Free Agent I'm GUARANTEEING We Sign

Recommended Posts

Pernell McPhee.

-He played in the same scheme

-He knows Chuck

-He's a typical Grigson signing, a guy who has proven in a rotational role and may be able to make the step to being a stud starter (ex. Toler and RJF)

-Ex-Ravens player (same thing as knowing Chuck)

I'll be happy with this signing because I believe he'll pan out as a starter and become a stud.

Any other free agents anyone guarantees will sign?

same could be said for Paul Kruger but they passed on him.   I'm personally not expecting the colts to sign McPhee.

I would like to see us start drafting front 7 talent at the clip that the Ravens do and with similar success, rather than simply signing the guys they drafted.  In fairness, Newsome and Hughes may yet pan out to be similar caliber players and we haven't had the excess picks that the Ravens operate with (self-inflicted, of course) other than in 2012 and that was a draft for the ages where we rebuilt the skill positions.

I hope not. I'm guessing he isn't that same beast next season playing full time. Besides, I don't ever see him putting up 10-12 plus sacks year after year, myself. I want a freak at OLB. I'd bet Greg Hardy could be had on a 1year deal. I think he can stand up.

We've done this before in offering RJF a starter's contract when he was only a "rotational player." We better not make that same mistake again and overpay for a guy like McPhee.

We really need to stop just signing Baltimore players. I mean Redding and Jones panned out, but now you're just scraping the bottom of the barrel. We will probably sign McPhee though.

Yeah, the roster is littered with 2 whole players that played for the Ravens. Stop the madness!

I'd love it.. he got plenty of pressure in limited snaps last year. I know people want the big names but McPhee has a better chance of succeeding in our scheme then Hardy and won't cost as much as Houston. And he's better than Hali and Orakpo.. Jason Worilds is they only other pass rusher I'd love to have.

Can we please stop calling every good to very good player "a monster" or "a beast"....

Can't we leave those terms for the best of the best?

And McPhee, while a good  (or some say above average) is not either "a monster" or a "beast"...

Truth is,  the great players rarely hit free agency.      There are exceptions to every rule,  like Revis last year.   And maybe Murray this year.

But Detroit is trying hard to keep Suh.    Now HE is a monster or a beast.

That much? I thought they only save about 5 a piece for Hali and Bowe and Fasano under 2? Am I mistaken?

Hali saves them $9m. Bowe can save them $11m as a post-June 1 release, $5m as a straight release, or more or less with a restructure. Fasano can save them $2m as a straight release, $3m as a post-June 1 release.

I'd be happy if there was just a list of the hierarchy.

Monster, beast, the many tiers of elite.

I've always been confused on what's higher than what, and which represented 'just O.K.'.

I doubt Worilds make it out of Pitt considering their aging d. The only guarantee that I want from this team is make sure they work from the inside out. I personally don't want to hear about skill positions in the FA. I WANT BEEF on the lines. I'll be so disappointed if the first fa is a skill position. We can get that through the draft. Safeties, rush backer. RB,WR. Just please work inside out. Everything else will work itself out with capable lines

Not a chance McPhee gets 7-9 million a year, 6 if lucky, more likely around 3-5. The most sacks he's gotten a year is 7.5 in a contract year. Most number of tackles is 20 something. He's not even a poor man's Justin Houston, more like a Jarrett Johnson.

Paul Kruger:

-most sacks in a year = 9, in a contract year

-most tackles in a year = 30, in a contract year

-average annual salary = $8.1 mil

this kind of thing happens every single year.  I'm pretty sure your $3-5 mil per year guess is going to be ridiculously low

    • Regarding the other Game 7, I think Denver shows Minnesota who the Champ is, I like Denver in that one. Good luck @Yoshinator.
    • me after Game 6! Yeah I have never seen such bias from the media in my life regarding any 1 series. At halftime, espn was playing GO NY GO NY, GO chants. It just isn't them, every single host on CBS radio are pulling for NY. What the hell did the Pacers do to deserve this kind of hate? I am puzzled. We aren't a dirty team, play beautiful basketball on offense. Usually people root for the underdog. Knicks are still favored to win the series. They are a 2 point favorite in Game 7. I hope we win big, as a fan, the media and NY fans made it personal with me after Game 5. I have sent our FO an e-mail saying make it personal, block out their crowd, block out the media, and bring it home.
    • Yep, I’ve noticed the bias and it is sickening!  GO PACERS! I love how this is all playing out. Wish Reggie was able to suit up for Game 7!!! R-E-G… G-I-E…. RE-GGIE RE-GGIE… SHOOT THE 3!!
    • It's apparent that the NFL is becoming what the NBA has already become.  It's not that far down the road that most all major sports games will be pay per view.
    • I don’t want to pay for the TV package monthly…nor will I pay their ridiculous prices. I used to get the Student NFL ticket from DirecTV and it was only $100 for the whole season and I could watch wherever on my mobile devices….that was a great deal and I did it for many years in a row.   I can confirm that last year I did pay for NFL+ and I just watched the games sometimes after it was over…and with that subscription you can watch local live broadcasts…so I would use BitDefender VPN and I’d login to a server location that made it appear I was in a particular city within the broadcast map. However, BitDefender doesn’t have a location for Indiana so often times I’d set the location to the away teams location when possible.   I just need to find a VPN service that has locations in Indiana so that I can use the NFL+ again this year. If anyone knows of one offering servers in Indiana please do let me know….much more fun to watch live and interact on the forum during the game than to have to wait until it’s all over to rewatch it.
