the forgotten man in the backfield

I personally would never have TY return a punt or kick again!

Couldn't agree more! Would rather have a fair catch/ chance at a little return with someone else rather than T.Y. getting injured!

I couldn't disagree more. There are points in a game where an electric return is needed and having a guy like TY who's not only a stand out receiver but a top notch returner is a luxury. Do I want him to be a full time return man? No, but I wouldn't mind TY back there testing the punt coverage in a big spot. I'm confident in him to know when to call for a fair catch if he sees no lanes to run through.

Thank you...two sides to every argument....I prefer a healthy TY...someone else needs to return punts...so easy for an * to take 15 yards to take him out in a big game...of course every game is a big game to the old linebacker.  :)

Marvin was not a punt returner..why TY?...we need him more than ever AT WR.  Reggie is movin' toward the rockin' chair :)

He muffed 2 of his 4 punt returns.

He also was not on a team for quite awhile before we picked him up. He wasn't on a roster to begin the 2013 season.

Not trying to be a Rainey apologist, but I think he'll do well if we bring him back.

And Andrew Luck threw numerous interceptions in the playoffs....... who cares

Luck is a former #1 overall pick and current fanchise QB. Rainey is a mediocre, fumble prone KR with limited use on the offense. See the difference between the two?

Nope, both are our best options at their respective roles on the current roster. Everyone is human, so what he muffed 2 punts. Even the "great" Devin Hester has muffed punts/kicks before

Long as he's not doing it every single time, I don't care. It's the NFL, people are gonna make mistakes.

I like what I saw from Whalen's returns much more than Rainey.  And Whalen also showed a knack for gaining 1st downs with YAC in the receiving game.  I'd keep Whalen over Rainey.  Not having a return specialist might allows us to carry the 6 WRs on the roster (Wayne, TY, Nicks, Rogers, Whalen, Brazil).

I'd like to see Brazil back there in college he had 63 returns for 668 yards and 4 td's. Whalen did a good last year for us too. The most I'd want from TY is situational use.

I am not sure how he is getting on the filed but I think Brazil has a chance to break out this year. It is his magical 3rd year the year WR's make the leap if they are going to. He showed flashes last year. Sadly I could see him in a package that Grigs uses to move up if he goes that route. I really like Brazil think he has a lot of potential.

You're talking about a guy who didn't even play football for most if not the entire year and get's called up out of the blue.  Does he get a chance to make any mistakes?  I'm sure he had to get back used to playing again.  T.Y. and Brazil screwed up on special teams as rookies too.

The whole team screws up if you ask me. So I don't see how 2 muffed punts is so bad

Obviously you'll need time to get reaclimated to the game.  As soon as he was signed we had him out there playing very fast.

That's a heck no to whalen

Whalen was perfect on his punt returns, didn't muff not one and gets north and south in a hurry, and made good decisions on when to let the ball go. I don't get why you are so against Whalen on punts other than he's not the fastest guy but he is the surest we have right now
