what's the situation with Chapman at this point--doesn't he have to play this week, or miss out for the rest of the season?

There are people far more expert on this topic than I, but my understanding is that he doesn't have to play. The Colts just have to determine whether to move him to the active roster this week or IR him. I think.

that is true, Chapman must be moved pretty quickly. doesn't look hopeful because I believe they would have made that move by now. look for word any day and also look for a pickup of someone else if he hasn't healed from his wounds which include a full-blown ACL reconstruct (very painful and brutal recovery time.)

I think they have until the end of today to activate him to the active roster if they want to have a chance to see him play this season. I guess we'll find out for sure later today.

Used to be that once he started practicing with the team, he had to be activated onto the active roster within three weeks or he was lost for the year. Sounds like this must be his third week, huh?

We do not have to play him, we just have to activate him this week. I think that this is a likely move because we are in the hunt for the playoffs and he will definitely help!

no, once activated as an exception from the special IR, he has to play in every game from that point on (if physically able to), and further must clog all the running lanes and be a beast space-eater and make at least 8 tackles a game with 50% of the number of full tackes required to be assists, lastly he must intimidate the opposing center with insults including but not limited to "yo momma" references and "who shur daddy" references.

Go Big Daddy Chap!!!!!

I sooooo hope we activate him. I think the Pats game would be the perfect 'introduction' for him.....let the monster out of the cage, so to speak.

Phil B. said on twitter that expects the Colts to activate him next week. Phil B.could be off on when they have to do it by but that's what he said.

I think they have until the 12th to activate or place on IR. Hope he is activated, can't do anything but help.

CRHughes is correct it is the 13th. Only the evaluators know his progress. If they think he can add or be better than what we have it is a no doubter. If there is some risk to his future they may wait till next year. Some of this may depend on his want to, he is a stud and if he is ready to preform he would be a great addition.

CRHughes is correct it is the 13th.

If that's the case, it takes some pressure off of any roster juggling that needs to be done for the Jags game due to all the injuries.

Ok, similar to his run to the championship at Alabama, he can play hurt for us and fortune would have it we should make it to and win the Super Bowl !!!!! Play on Big Daddy Chap!!!!

I think he is going to be active for the Patriots game. I remember reading an interview with Grigson in which he said that Manuski pulled him aside to show him a practice video with Chapman throwing a 320 lb tackle (most likely Hicks) out of the way like a rag doll (paraphrase).

Hicks is a Guard but seems to be the rumor that it was Hicks, not sure if it was confirmed who yet

it was a 345 pound guard on the practice squad, which is Hicks.

Hope he gets activated, this is not someone I would throw away unless he has some serious issues.

That's right, I forgot the exact sentence but I remember checking the practice squad for the match out of curiosity as soon as I read that. I tried to locate the article but I could not find it.

Anyway, I get the sense that Chapman's debut is one of the most anticipated for a Colts player in a long time probably because of the myth of this huge guy in the middle as a solution to all the run stopping problems.

Cool, the good news is that we may get to see what Grigson said in an actual game.

There's no downside to activating him. We've got street FA DLs sitting on our active roster (Tevaseau, Geathers, Guy). Cut one of those dudes, and he can probably be picked up again if injuries hit...

All these positive vibes remind me of the days "Goose" anchored the middle of our D line.

A shame Hicks was picked up since he was our only healthy Guard, best of luck to him in Dramaville

Unless he's not ready to play yet and the other guys can play. With that said when they are ready to active him I would guess Geathers might be the odd man out even though he's a DE he was inactive on Sunday vs. Miami and with Moala and Redding healthy plus Nevis and Guy also on the roster there isn't really much of a need for him anymore.

I'd rather save him for next year if the alternative is rushing him back before he's ready. Why would you want to risk the career of a potential franchise NT just for one season? We have to get over this urge for instant gratification all the time. I'd love to see him play this year, but let the man come back when he's ready.

    • Yes, epic injuries.  Yet, 11 guys played and someone still coached them....and we are able to evaluate those coaching decisions separately.  This is especially true in game decided by a field goal.     It's a game that the players played well enough to win...at least for my money.
    • Ugh Costas...what an uptight, buttkissing *. It's hard to believe football would get hit with the same type of nonsense that he spews that would be big enough to simply overshadow him. That's basically what has happened at the moment but he'll never be topped in general.
    • As a Homer with objectivity I will happily point out the Colts have looked much better than the 0-3 Jags . The Colts were picked early by the media & other dingbats to be a powerhouse instead they'v stunk up all they got to show for this season is a tape of a guy playing with his junk in the pee pool there only highlight  .   The losses could have been wins especially the Lions game the Colts .   Your defense is you'v been right so far  So IMO your due to be wrong & I look forward to pointing that out to you as you enjoy a double helping of crow pie Sunday afternoon , Don't disappear make sure & come back & visit & remind us homers that you'v been right so far there Nostradamus ,    As far as being right so far does that mean you also predicted the Jags would go 0-3 ..  I doubt it .
    • Revenge is best served...in an equal manner I suppose
    • I do think that politics has something to do with it. To me, it started when Bob Costas decided to make an anti-gun statement on live TV during a game a couple of years ago. It seems that everything is being politicized and we're constantly being told what we have to accept and tolerate, OR ELSE! Now, it seems the NFL is no different. It's just another platform that a political party and their supporters can use to push their agenda, and it seems to have put many fans off.
  • Welcome New Members

    • Welcome here Nils!   I can tell you, most of football fans in Hungary are Patriots fans...unfortunately.
    • Hi, Nils here....   I know a lot of Europeans support the Patriots, but all I can say is no way man, no way!   I'm not entirely sure when I started to follow and cheer for the Colts, but I has no shame in admitting that it was when Manning begun to really shine. It was probably back in 1999 because I seem to remember that play-off game against the Titans.   I also remember the I loved how the Colts would play a beautiful offensive game whereas other teams were boring with their defensive strengths. Aaaahh, those were the days!   I was introduced to American Football during my American Politics/presidential election study in Washington D.C. in the fall of 1996 (Clinton vs Dole). Didn't really get attached to any team back then, so you can say that Redskins just left me totally uninspired.   It is a great and welcoming forum here - and that is just how I remembered America too.
