Colts contacted Raiders about Cooper

Case

I think the main issue some people have, like me for example, is the Colts could very easily win their division with just a few key additions.  The division is not tough at all. In fact it is downright easy.

So to even waste ONE YEAR of Luck's career by not giving him the best weapons available is to me a major mistake.

Cooper isn't going to dramatically improve this offense.    The balance we had today is what frank wants.   He doesn't want luck to throw 50 times a game.   If the o line can continue what they did today,  were on our way.

No one has any idea of that statement is true.

Cmon.

We had 4 passing tds today.   Do you think with Cooper we have 6?  I doubt it.

If Ballard can get him for a third,  I would be cool with it.   But not a second

It was nice, but that was a once a year performance, if we're lucky.

Sure, every coach would love to rush for 220 and force 5 turnovers every week, but that's not going to happen.  It's a passing league, and most weeks you're gonna have to pass to win.  Whether it's Cooper or whoever, we need another receiver... a reliable receiver who can win on the outside.  Might be the biggest weakness on the team.

I agree we need another wr.  Giving a second for a guy with one year left is dumb

One year left?  You give him a new deal after his 5th. yr. option.  What's so hard about that?  He's easily worth a 2nd.   I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's wearing a shoe soon.

Yeah because working out new deals is easy... the FO and players/agents always agree.  Cooper would never want a deal that was based more off previous production than current/recent production.  :sarcasm:

I wouldn't give up too much for Cooper.   His yards per game has dropped pretty significantly from what he was 2 seasons ago.

On top of that he's got this year and next year is his 5th year option year that they already took.  After that he's gonna want to be paid.

I'm thinking a 4th probably the highest I would go and I'm not even sure of that.

Because even if you do work out a deal with him then you are spending significant cap money on him.  So you not only invested a draft pick on him but you are investing cap money as well.

He cant catch a cold. no idea what happened to him first two years he looked like he was on his way to be one of the league's best last two he has sucked.

Sooo.  What's wrong with spending cap money?  Especially on a player who would have shown he deserves to be paid. .

A two time 24 yr. old pro bowler suddenly loses it all by himself.   Sorry,  But I don't buy that logic.

If you are going to spend a high pick obtaining him you want some years on the contract with a low salary.  He doesn't have that.

Hakeem Nicks, Darius Heyward-Bey, Kamar Aiken, and now Ryan Grant...

We’ve had enough underwhelming additions at WR. No more right now, thank you.

It’s really hard to find a good starting receiver in the draft. I believe the chances of Cooper becoming a stud is better than rolling the dice on a 4th round receiver in the upcoming draft

Bringing in Cooper could be a huge move for us. I would offer a 4th round pick. We would have a year and a half to evaluate him. If he is the worth the money then we pay him, else we let him go.

And right after you offered a 4th the silence wouldn’t be broken until the dial tone.

And that would be fine. Some conversations do not need to go any further. Obviously the Raiders were offered more by the Cowboys than by the Colts. Plus we play the Raiders next week so any trade with the Colts would have likely been delayed until after Sunday.

The Raiders ended up getting a first. Would have been too rich for me. In the end, the Cowboys might get a good deal here, but I think a low 3rd or high 4th is proper compensation at this time.
