2017 Season Bold Predictions

Defjamz26

Season is almost upon us. These next few weeks will fly past. Not sure if this has been done already but I'm just starting conversation. Here's my bold predictions for the upcoming Colts season

1. Jonathan Hankins starts at DT, and Grover Stewart starts at NT.

2. Neither of the guys who ended the season starting at ILB (Jackson and Morrison) will start opening day.

3. Phillip Dorsett becomes the number 4 or 5 receiver behind Rodgers and Aiken and plays his last season in Indy

4. Langford gets cut

5. Geathers only plays 6 games for the Colts in 2017.

1,3 and 5 are what will likely happen IMO. Not bold at all. 2 and 4 are a bit bold.

Here are mine.

1.) Marlon Mack will get 1,000 yards rushing his rookie year.

2.) TY Hilton will once again lead the league in receiving yards

3.) Quincy Wilson will be the no1 CB on the Colts by the end of the year.

4.) Ryan Kelly will be the no1 C in the NFL by year's end.

5.) Frank Gore will be cut midseason.

Would love if 1-4 happens. I think Gore is gone in the offseason though, not midseason.

1 has a chance of happening if they really do cut Gore mid-season. This is Gores last season with us anyways. We need to know what we have in Mack before the 2018 draft when the RB class will be stacked.

I also see 3 and 4 happening. Kelly had 0 sacks and only 3 penalties as a rookie, which is crazy. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes the pro-bowl.

Since we're being bold, I'll go against the grain a bit!

1) Dorsett finally breaks out for 750 receiving yards and 6 TD's, and uses the breakout to sign a new contract.

2) The defense looks improved, but doesn't make the huge jump a lot of people are expecting due to injuries, leaving us as the 26th ranked defense in the NFL!

3) Luck leads us back to the playoffs in spite of the defense, taking us back to 11-5 and through at least the WildCard.

4) Gore finally shows some signs of breaking down late in the year, but an early burst out of the gates carries him to his second straight 1000 yard season.

5) The offensive line unit becomes a top 5 unit out of nowhere, only letting up 25 sacks on the year.

I will continue with some bold predictions

1. Darius Butler makes the Pro Bowl as a Safety

2. Jon Bostic becomes our ILB anchor and Morrison is cut

3. Our D overall moves to 15th

4. Clayton Geathers retires from football

5. Gore still gets 750 yards in his last year and retires

- Week 1 the Rams blow us out,and everyone panics. We bounce back and win the South

- Colts defense ranks top 5 in defense against the run

- Our young offensive line shuts up the critics about being horrendous.

- Adam Vinitari misses crucial field goals and is benched/released by week 8

Well, your #4 isn't too bold. This writer agrees with you

Probably not too bold but I think Doyle and Moncrief will have well over half of team's receiving TD's.

Also not too bold, Hilton regresses in yards and even gets one less TD, but I think he only regresses on paper. People just pay more attention to him and he'll have trouble excelling.

Mathias Farley cements himself as starting SS. This is more just a feeling. I think Butler will be needed at CB, Geathers health will be up and down, and TJ won't improve enough.

There were several centers that gave up zero sacks last season.
Guys that most here never heard of.
We will see if he grades better than Whitehair.

Gore isn't getting cut but will see fewer touches as the season progresses.

Prediction:

Colts are in Minneapolis on February 4th and return to Indy with the Lombardi- thats bold

Oh.... I wouldn't be surprised in Geathers never plays again.

Alright well if we're going bold then...........

1) TJ Green improves a ton, nabs a starting safety spot by week 4

2) Jack Doyle becomes a big part of the offense, 800 yards 8 touchdowns

3) The defense as a whole improves, but not as much as people say. Methinks they rank around 25-20. The Pass rush will once again be an issue

4) Luck has a huge year. Plays all 16 games and leads the league in passing yards.

5) Indy doesn't win the division....but they still make the playoffs at 10-6.

*Bonus*

The AFC South shocks everyone, and sends three teams to the playoffs. (Tennessee at 12-4, Houston and Indy at 10-6)

I bet a million internet points that Grover Stewart doesn't start

It's not the start that makes me think it isn't bold, it's the fact that Grover Stewart WILL play NT if he starts. His weight is just suited for it. It's either NT or nothing for him IMO, which isn't bold to me. If he said Stewart played DT, that would actually be more bold to me.

I would think just saying we will go 10-6 and win the Division is super bold considering guys like Elliott Harrison and Heath Evans (NFL Network) will do their annual pick of us at 6-10 and USA Today already has us at 5-11. To me going 10-6 is mighty bold lmao By the way Tennessee has zero chance to go 12-4, I would bet the house on that one. Best they will go is 10-6 and that is everything goes right. Jacks wont even be .500 like I always predict, and without QB the best Houston will go is 10-6.

Precisely my point. He's 6'5" 300+ lbs. he makes too much sense at NT. IDK if NT is Hankins best position. And we can't start Parry at NT again. Stewart makes too much sense.

Would be nice to get an early 4th for him.

He's done nothing to show he's worth that at this point.  However you feel about Allen he has a much better track record than Dorsett and he only brought a 4th rounder and that was with the Colts also throwing in a sixth round pick.  You'd be lucky to get a sixth of seventh for Dorsett at this point if that.

Yes it would be nice to get an early 4th for him but it's an unrealistic expectation.

Lots of good story lines to keep us engaged throughout the season.

Can Mack be our future RB.

Can Moncrief become what we hope.

Nice looking rookie class.

Will Oline continue to get better.

Hankins in the middle....and many more.

You had me in complete agreement until I saw #5 Jared. I know, you're just being bold. I get it.

1. Colts offense, defense and special teams all finish in top half of league.

2. Colts finish first half of season at 5-3, go 6-2 in second half to finish 11-5 to win AFC South and obtain 3rd seed.

3. Luck throws for 30+ TDs and single digit INTs.

4. Defense finds pass rush by committee, leads league in cover sacks.

5. Colts < 10 in turnover differential.

Who do we get blown out by in the divisional round?
