Landry

He was good as a pass rusher.  However, let's keep in mind that he went to the QB untouched.  He didn't have to try any pass rush moves to beat an offensive lineman or tight end, and it's pretty easy to get a sack when all you have to do is run in a straight line to the QB.  I also don't think we had enough to comment on his tackling or coverage ability.

It may be stupid but they should rotate Adams Brown and Landry.  Only have Landry in on blitzes or stopping the run.  Brown and Adams coverage guys, while Brown gets to blitz every now and then.  Our secondary is great!  Now only if we could, get covering LB's and keep our big men up front healthy.  Jones has been out pretty much all season and finally coming back.  Kerr was out today.  Good thing Redding and RJF have been solid this year.

Tell that to Bethea when he missed a wide open sack on Alex Smith last season

My personal opinion is that Bethea's problems were overstated.  I believe he didn't miss a single game during his time as a Colt and he was always a reliable tackler.  Neither of those can be said for LaRon

I'd agree with that, but he did have issues in coverage, but that's a function of the defensive unit not just his own play. In hindsight, given the contact he signed in SF, it's a shame we let him walk but that's the way it goes I guess. Win some, lose some.

He looked hungry. Good to have some safety depth.

That would make him a pretty expensive rotational safety.  I would imagine he'll see more snaps as the year goes on, but I have to wonder if he's been permanently relegated to that role.  I knew that was the plan going into the year, but I figured that he would have been getting more snaps than Serg.

He got to do what he does best and thats play the run...Other then that I don't see the point in reading anything into how he played in coverage against a an offense full of 1st and 2nd years players. Loved that Manusky decided to use him right for a change however

Bethea is having himself a very good season there in San Fran.  I'd rather have Bethea who can actually tackle and play center field than Landry who can't do either

Bethea was historically a below average center fielder.

We needed better play with 8 men in the box and Landry did fine.

But Jaxs QB`s for the last MANY seasons generally have no idea where their receivers are going so they stand there holding onto the ball so we get to stuff the stat sheet on them.

Bortles was terrible yesterday, so IMO, this game meant zilch.

Andrew has looked Dazed out there for the 3rd game in a row.

On a number of occasions, I saw that Brown was back at safety and Landry was lined up at linebacker. Two straight plays he blitzed and was involved in sacking the QB. Plus he better at coverage than DQ Jackson on tight ends, not saying much but an improvement. Could see more of this in future.

LaRon had 20 snaps and Sergio had around 35.  LaRon posted his career high 1.5 sacks (on back to back plays).  He also had 5 tackles.  For the time he played and the significance of his sacks, I was very impressed.  I will continue to defend him and Trent from ruthless fans that love to hate!!  Thanks for backing me up on this one LaRon.

WHAT PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE... LaRon and Trent are very talented players!  Yes, they have blatent weaknesses that can be corrected, but first and foremost, the coaching staff doesn't use either of them properly.  LaRon isn't a good coverage safety (hence why everybody loves to point that out), that doesn't mean he sucks!  That means we need to use his skills in a different manner.  You saw him get sacks on back to back plays, so he should be used that way.  Also he is much stronger than Sergio and Adams, therefore he should be used in obvious running downs to stack the box!

*As a side note* (Im sure some of you have seen me post this before)  Trent is a power runner not unlike the speed styles of Boom or Ahmad.  They get alot of their runs to the outside, with the above average blocking abilities of our Tackles (Gosder hasn't been playing above average but he has also been playing with an injury).  Trent gets the majority of his runs up the gut (where Mewhort, Harrison, and Thornton block).  Are you starting to see a common denominator there?  If not let me progress... The interior has 3 guys with a combined 4 years of experience and the tackles + great blocking TE's are seasoned vets that have been around the block.

I know I got alittle off topic there, but my main point is until the coaching staff works up better schemes to use the strengths of each of our players, or fix the real problem, how can you just point the finger at 1 player?  Lets all use common sense and think outside the box and not just look at the stat sheet :)

he probably was, from getting hit so much, badder and worst o-line than last year
