If we win Sat do you all think we would get the 425 game on Saturday against KC? Or maybe it would depend on what teams make it past the first round. Surely they wouldn’t want a Luck Mahomes game at 1 on Sunday. I don’t remember what the schedule looks like.

our games are usually close, if ty is limited it could make things interesting

the texans are slight home favorites, but match up wise i give the edge to the colts.  might as well predict a colts win 28-24

i think both teams will have a turnover and a bunch of penalties

LOL indeed.

So you are saying it will be one of the Texans, Chargers, Saints or Seahawks since the Panthers are not in the playoffs.

That's the plan.

Interestingly, there is a conceivable path to that being the respective conference championship games. If it does, I will pledge my fealty to Mr. Cisneros.

The league and the media want Watson.

Says who? I've seen loads of analysts and the like picking the Colts to win this game.

There's also a ton of people picking the Texans. But that's what happens when you have two close division rivals who both won by 3 points in the regular season playing a playoff game. It's gonna be close.

Perhaps so.  But Reich winning a SB as an assistant and then a HC is not as big a storyline as the Texans winning one for their deceased owner.

It's  all about the Josh McDaniels  rejection that makes it a better story

Well if we are going by which owners die then if irsay kicked the bucket you know by Saturday say 1pm then for sure we’d win the Super Bowl right ? It would be the ultimate story.

I can see the articles now.....

“The 2018 colts were already off to a treacherous start to the new league year before the week 1 even began, by missing out on key free agents and missed signings of their own guys that left in free agency they were also ‘deflated’ by New England’s offensive coordinator Mr Poopy Pants leaving them high and dry at the altar forced to look for an equal backup plan and having to keep position coaches that were already hired. Then just as the colts get off to the worst start with the uncertainty of one Andrew Luck and a bunch of unproven free agent acquisitions and rookies they start out 1-5. But then they rattle off the multiple wins and finish the rest of the season going 9-1 into an improbable playoff wild card spot to finish at 10-6 just short of winning their own division. Then just as they prepare for the wild card game in Houston the team owners plane goes down in flames killing team owner Jim Irsay just minutes before kickoff. It was the most improbable road the the super bowl for this 2018 colts team, perhaps the most improbable and most memorable in NFL history!”

man can I write some fakenews or what :scoregood: <—- kick that last guy outta the emoji we need all 10’s here

This smells like another game where Houston gets every break and every call in front of a rabid crowd, and wins a single score contest:  i'll say Houston 27 Colts 24.

Expect to see things like a tipped pass right into a Texan defenders hands for a pick six, and a punt return that we return for a TD, but is called back by a bogus call.  Also some questionable decision making by our head coach will cost us easy points.  You know, the same way Houston won like 6 of their games this season.

24-23 Indy, Vinny with the game winner.

I will still roll with something like this or 26-24 Indy with Vinny kicking the game winner. I think we get the ball last and Luck drives us down for Vinny to win it. The Texans are Good, this game will be tough and both teams will beat each other up IMO. I think we will just have enough to beat them. Luck is better than Watson and I see him making the big plays at the end of the game.

He's definitely a better pocket passer. But old Luck had some old tricks (probably the coolest Luck play of all time):

I think his crossbody TD to Inman last wee was just as impressive as this play.

No, this is the game where Houston's luck finally runs out. I'm on various forums and the majority consider Houston to be a playoff fraud. Beat the Bills thanks to a Nathan Peterman pick 6, Alex Smith breaks his leg injury, Broncos missed field goal.....then they gifted with no call PIs against Philadelphia. I just feel like they're due to be exposed.

One of the more lackluster 11-5 teams I've watched and I'm not saying this just because they're a divisional rival. I don't see what's so scary about them.

I can watch that TD over and over and over again. Luck with the escapability and then the absolute dime of a throw.......but how about that snag too? Thank God for Inman, that would've been a drop Weeks 1-7 save for Hilton.

A matchup against Luck and Mahomes would be fun. Colts win.

There are some people on the Chargers official board who believe that the Colts can beat K.C. As a matter of fact, at least one person or two has predicted a Chargers-Colts AFC Championship game.

That Inman play was real nice. But the falling/being tackled cross-body 40+ yard throw to Brazill (along with the amazing catch) was just incredible when it happened. Something I had never seen before.

It's funny...we sort of expect Luck to be amazing every week now...and he is. But back then, he was just a rookie and doing that type of stuff.

I want to win this game. But all I really ask for is it is a close game and isn’t a blowout. The worst feeling in the world is being hyped for a game and it’s over before the second half.

Thats one of the lesser discussed traits of Andrew since his injury - there is no such thing as a game out of reach when hes at QB. Ask Chiefs fans how they felt when they were up 38-10.

    • You are missing out a rather LARGE piece of the puzzle in your factoring here. We had last season's win numbers with GARDNER FREAKING MINSHEW at QB practically the whole season. Love the guy and what he did for us last season, but he isn't exactly a world beater at the QB position. AR brings such a different dynamic to this offense and teamm, Shane is going to be chomping at the bit to get started this season. The sample size we saw from AR last season was small, but it was definitely encouraging - especially considering we were all expecting him to be much more raw and inaccuarte. He basically red-shirted last year, learning the NFL game and in Steichen's ear the whole time, while learning the playbook inside out.  Our team has fundamentally stayed the same as last season, which damn near won the AFC South with Gardner at QB for the love of god. Now we add AR to that mix, as well as some very interesting additions in Mitchell and Latu who could have very meaningful impacts. The fact that we are so under the radar is almost laughable - AFC South isnt going to know what hit it.
    • Great points!  I would assume the Irsay’s would conduct the interviews. If Steichen is given more control he would as well or the new GM could decide his fate like Ballard did with Pagano. Several ways it can go and we are a few years away from it even happening so who really knows. I’m hoping none of it matters and the team becomes a true contender and this discussion is merely killing time.
    • I would say "hire the best who's available for the job". If all the good / great GM candidates are gone, you're stuck hiring someone like Grigson (or maybe someone from this forum).   I often wonder, who's the best candidate to hire for an impossible job? Someone who can make the impossible, possible?
    • I agree.  Hire who’s best for the job.  But that doesn’t mean the guy who is easiest is automatically the wrong choice.  Easiest can also mean best.   It depends on your perspective.
    • I’m in, can’t believe how fast this year is going.
