take it down. We don't need that there. Just have a 2014 division champs banner. winning the division and winning the superbowl are two things to celebrate. Being an AFC "finalist" isn't.

It's showing the players and coaching staff that it's ok to come in second place.

What is this, grade school track where everyone gets a ribbon?

Just stick with the AFC South champs banner.

 Total nonsense. Hanging the banner does none of what you suggest. The banners are for the fans, not the players and coaches

We have 3 of these now, it's embarrassing. There should not be a banner for anything except Super Bowl championships, possibly an AFC Champions banner from 2009 but anything else is a joke

That's your opinion. Not one shared by those that run the team

If we hung those in Baltimore, we would have three of those dang banners which no one would want. It's kind of like a U 9 soccer team getting a finalist trophy in a tournament.

lol. Love the soccer reference. That is they way it is with my kids leagues. Drives me crazy ... :)

We are the only team in the NFL to my knowledge that puts this stuff up

Championship?........ absolutely

Division win..... maybe

runner up....... NAH

... Come to think about it,  I havent seen this stuff at pro Hockey or Basketball

To me....... it deters from the championships..... and looks like a participation trophy

I dont see how a AFC South banner would be any better. AFC Finalist is a bigger accomplishment than winning the division.

That must be why the rest of the country is making fun of the Colts right now.

Have some pride! It was one thing back in 1995, and I guess again in 2003 when 'getting to the game' was an achievement. But christ, you have a Superbowl banner and AFC Champions  banner up there now! The expectations have changed and the team shouldn't be permanently commemorating their NFL semifinalist appearance.

I enjoy the banners it just reminds me as a fan of the colts some of the accomplishments the team has brought to Indy since moving, This also allows some fans of other sports who have never been to Lucas oil to look and see what kind of season the colts had by just looking up the year on the banner.

Remember the colts did not have a good following when they came to Indy, This state was all about Basketball, I can remember buying tickets for 20 to 30 dollars and being able to bring the whole family. My mother did not even like football or understand it until I took her to a game and after that she was a Colts fan for life. This is good for the fathers and sons, Daughters and Mothers who spent time at the Hoosier Dome and then to Lucas to look at these banners and remember the year the team won the Championship or the year lost the championship or the year when records were broken. This is just a way of showing the great fans of Indy the many accomplishments.

Just saying, winning the AFC South is no big achievement either. If division champ banners are okay, don't see why this one isn't. Personally I don't pay much attention to the banners, I pay attention to the field.

The difference is that this one commemorates a loss...a big one.

Every year a football team has 3 goals:

1. Win the division

2. Win the conference

3. Win the Superbowl

Most teams hang banners to commemorate when one of those goals is achieved...not just 'participating' in the effort to reach it.

Making fun of the Colts? That's in New England because of their arrogance. Seems I remember that the Patriots have a banner for a perfect record? That is not a championship banner so what makes that any better?

You think it's just New England talking about this? Check the internet, check the twitter machine...EVERYONE is making fun of you. Even some Colts publications are a little squeamish about it.

The 16-0 banner hangs in the opposite corner of the stadium and is commemorating a historical achievement that had never been done before. I wish it was taken down too, but if you think that is on the same level as a participation banner hanging next to all the others you are off your rocker.

If they were going to hang one that said "AFC South Champions" I have no problem with changing the words to "Finalist".

Did they hang a AFC North banner in Pittsburgh? What about Carolina hanging a Division Champs banner commemorating their 7-8-1 record? Isn't that worse than what the Colts are doing here?

For the love of God...

You can make a good argument about the merits of hanging such a banner.  Your's is not.

    • She is currently at the height of her celebrity.   Luckily she has cashed in with endorsement deals.   The WNBA isn't an exciting sport.  They need to lower the rims .   Cheryl Miller is the greatest women's basketball player I have ever seen.   If Diana Taurasi, Lisa Leslie, Tamika Catchings (also a Fever player), Sheryl Swoopes etc can't get people excited about the WNBA no one will.   The WNBA needs players that can drive inside and finish.   That makes basketball exciting.   I would bet many WNBA players can out shoot many NBA players,   that doesn't bring ratings.  Lower the rim, let the girls play inside
    • Make that losing 8 games in a row now. 6 years of David Bell. Another season under .500 and no chance of playoffs. Why is David Bell allowed to be manager?    11 losses in 13 games. Nearly everyone is hitting below .200. Pitching has suddenly collapsed, can’t hit anything to save their lives. That’s NOT playoff caliber. Just another year of Reds baseball. #SellTheTeamBob
    • Homer and his 3 strands of hair -  . By the way, OG has been ruled out for Game 3. Pacers catching a huge break here. This is where the Pacers depth could still win them this series, we go 9/10 deep, they only play 7. Thibs and his nervous movements and 3 strands of hair is wearing his guys out. I am starting to lean toward that we win these next 2. Winning in NY will still be extremely difficult.
    • She definitely is a huge draw right now. I’m interested to see if it stays that way.  Women’s college basketball is more popular than the WNBA in my eyes. I hope she helps the league take the next step. It’s one heck of a task.
    • I love posts like these.    I wish we could track them through the years.   I remember I the STAR forum people hated the reggie pick, the freeney pick.  So many haters.   Why not just hope the pick will help the team be better?  Every year these youtube gms think they actually have some knowledge.   You don't.   You have no clue.   I know a few that thinks playing Madden may qualify you .  Are we being serious.   How anyone can be disappointed with this draft at this point is trying to be Mel Kiper.  Ckueless
