WR Dunn signed by Pats to play role of Hilton

Basically a decoy unless he does get passed our corners then Tom may throw the ball to him.

They not using him in the game. They using him for practice to prepare for hilton. Kind of like how they practiced with paddles to prepare for watt.

Talib has had more trouble with guys like Hilton than he has with bigger, more prototypical outside receivers. I don't think they're going to shadow TY with Talib the entire game... I think they'll change things up a bit. Kyle Arrington is usually their slot guy and he mostly does a nice job, but a lot will depend on whether Denard (knee) is ready or not.

I seriously doubt Dunn will be here for too long.

I suppose he's giving them a feel for the speed that T.Y. runs with.  Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they used him for a play or two though.  I would considering the way Donnie Avery blew right by our secondary for that long touchdown.

He is probably a better receiver at this point then Branch who was a couch potato this whole season ...

I'll agree to that, but do we really think Branch was brought in for his receiving skills?

Dunn may be better than Branch, but T.Y. is leagues better than Dunn.

Donnie Avery blew by a hobbled Greg Toler who never saw a snap after that play. Toler is now IR'd.

No. What has Dunn ever... done? Branch may be a step slower and a bit washed up but he still can run the proper route and catch the ball. Whereas, I don't believe Dunn has ever been on an active roster in the NFL.

Regardless, both of these guys are destined to be inactive game day.

One of the few Pats games I watched this year was against Carolina, and Talib did not have a good time against Steve Smith. Hilton is shaped just like Smith, but he's younger and faster.

Seattle tried covering him with Brandon Browner lol. He told him he was 'light as s***', and then proceeded to be burnt.

ok im lost. who is reggie dunn?

An undrafted kick return specialist that the Pats are using to emulate TY Hilton's speed (not route tree running ability, nor hands) for the DB's in practice.  He will be off their roster in a NY minute... Guy has never had more than 15 receptions in a season.  But four 100 yd kick returns one year.

Dobson and Thompkins looked awful all season.

They looked awful early on and then started to come on over the course of the season especially Dobson. But injuries have curl tailed them of late. Not sure Dobson will even play as he missed practice today with the same foot injury that kept him out three games.

Dobson not playing is bad news for us. I was looking forward to his drive killing drops.

Doesn't matter.  Tavon Austin killed us with his speed all over the field against the Rams.

A guy that fast even if he has no experience can be used for a play or two as a surprise.

I doubt this guy Dunn really will make much of an impact, but I'm not ruling the element of

surprise out.  It's the playoffs......

It does matter, you mentioned the Donnie Avery TD play as an example of our defensive backfield getting torched. We now know that Greg Toler, the guy responsible for Avery on the play, was clearly hurt while trying to cover Avery.

Tavon Austin is one example of a speed guy who torched us but it seemed like more of an anomaly than a pattern.

Yet, all of this is largely irrelevant since Dunn will more than likely be inactive.

It doesn't matter.  We've been burnt with or without Toler by the 3 speed guys that we've faced.  Forgot to mention how when healthy Toler was getting skinned by Mike Wallace. Austin scored on us on the same type of rub routes we were getting burnt on Saturday. Not really an anamoly.  But like you said we don't even need to make a large conversation out of this when this dude in all likelihood will not be playing.
