Nfl.com video asks are colts the next dynasty?

Frankly, I hate the term dynasty, I love parity as it strengthens the league, and I despise articles, or videos......which are judged by interaction and comment, not by validity of content.

This video at the end of the 2006 season...maybe has some validity. but very little. Filmed right now is a symbol of uber hackness.

Not if they keep drafting stupidly like they have been.

And how have they been drafting stupidily? Outside of Werner and a few others from the 2013 draft, grigson has nailed a lot of his picks. And this past draft looks to be a real good one too.

Let's win at least 1 SB first then we'll talk about dynasty.

Precisely. Until you're a champ with your current crop of players, you're just a team on the rise. Could they be? If you define two SB's in the next few years as a dynasty, sure. . Will they be? Probably not, because it is so hard to win two SBs. But will they win at least one? I DO believe that.

Baldy touched on the quarterback, the defense, and the coach. However, I think he left off a very important piece of the puzzle which cannot be overlooked. In my mind, to become a dynasty a team needs to have a great offensive line.

It is possible that we can win a Super Bowl this season and still continue to build the offensive line, and also improve the defense. Theoretically, it is possible that we are in the early stages of a dynasty. I just think we are a few years away, and we also need to win at least one championship before we can seriously be included into the conversation.

I don't think we have the coaching staff yet nor the defense. If they hit about 5 home runs on this year's draft, then perhaps it can shape up. But all the while Luck's prime years will be fast approaching along with his massive paycheck sucking the life out of getting FA's and worse, trying to keep our standout players. They've had it easy up until now. After next year, everything changes so they are going for broke. I sure hope they have the defense to pull it off. In 3 years we could have Luck and not nearly the same level of talent around him unless they keep finding magic in the drafts and so far it has been hit and miss badly.

With the D we have every year? Not likely at all

With the D we have every year?    Our defense has gotten better every year under this new front office and coaching staff.

It's not where we want it yet,  but I bet it will be better again for the 4th year in a row.

Well....

We just invested in Cole, Langford, Irving and Lowery in Free Agency.

We just invested in Smith, Anderson,  Geathers,  Parry and the linebacker whose name escapes me.

And I suspect we'll invest much more into defense next year as well.

I'm not trying to defend this defense.   I'm not happy where it is.   But it's gotten a little better each year.   Just not as good as I had hoped.

yeah I'm not happy with it either hopefully we get great value with all those late picks I think smith will be good and will replace toler we still need a ilb to go with Irving

Not sure how dynasty is defined either, I don't think there is a specific definition.  But I think most people would say it has to involve multiple championships and a long track record of winning seasons, probably going to the playoffs nearly every year.

I feel fairly confident about having a long track record of winning seasons and going to the playoffs.  Luck isn't going to decline for a while.  But winning championships isn't easy and I would say that's the hard part of being a dynasty.  Several teams have a long track record of winning and going to playoffs every year.  But you have to win the championships to be a dynasty.

Keep in mind the Patriots win with a lot of unknowns. Balancing the salary money is key. Next year the Colts will pay out some big bucks and maintaining the ability to pay good players is key. I do not know how many H o F players the Pats have but the dynasty of the Steelers and Cowboys have a bunch of them. I just hope they do Luck proud. I would hate to see him have many great years with only a couple trophies. Peyton knows  how that feels.

At this point it could very well be Seattle. They have been to the last two SBs and have a great defense....and added a very nice piece to that offense. I think you will see GB, SEA, INDY, and NE battling it out the next few years...hard to say if one team or another will distance themselves. If Belicheck hangs around after Brady I can see him and Jimmy forming a good union down the road.
