Didn't I just agree I was wrong? I  said  Shane would do the rb by committe and yes, did  I didn't feel that he was the total package that Shane coveted  if he was going to be paid elite money. It's funny as people always come back at me.  I say what I say and own it in the end. However 100% people on here will go down with the ship and never admit when they were wrong.

But you were not wrong.  We know that Ballard did not want to offer a committed long term contract....because he didn't.  I would assume that Shane was not "pounding the table" for JTs return, based upon his previous comments.

Now they changed their minds, and finally made him an offer.  And Shane says nice things about JT, like a GM speaks nicely of their draft picks and says they are the guy.

You were exactly right about not wanting JY (at the price.....nobody assumes were talking a free RB).  Now they changed their mind.

Burrow has played like % this season.

As a Bengals fan, I agree. Most of us in the greater Cincy region can tell he’s fighting through it.

As for his pressers? I’m not surprised he’s playing it off. Why incite a panic? He was fairly honest at the start of the season that he was hurting bad.

He could be telling the truth on being better, but he did miss out on valuable time to get with his receivers.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they lose to the Cards and more this season. They all have down years now and then. And Taylor (the coach) could be gone depending on how bad the season gets.

No no.  Shane said JT was one of the reasons he took the job.

JT and his team wanted a reported 4 year 15 per deal.   They settled for 3 for 12ish.

Yep, I want some true star power on the Colts. Richardson will hopefully be a star one day, but he needs Taylor on this offense to take the pressure off of him. The season is going to be interesting now with Taylor back.

I agree Jared.  If you want a Rare Air team, you need to staff it with as many Rare Air players on it as you can at the same time.

Richardson, Taylor, Nelson, Buckner...  Need more, but it's not a bad start.

My casino is 1 1/2 hours from me. I go to cripple creek when I gamble. Play Blackjack and Poker generally. I'm actually horrible at sports betting tbh. The only time I'm profitable is when I bet on conspiracy theories in the playoffs or a sports championship lol. I'll get that right more than half the time.

Love gambling!

I'm not lucky(to get good hands) or good enough at poker. Last I checked we don't have blackjack or roulette, which would be my preferred games.

Like you, I try to guess the conspiracy theory in the NFL and its a guessing game and sometimes it gets me and I miss on obvious wimners. But like you, I'm right more than wrong.

But betting baseball is my expertise and my bread & butter.

I like/love gambling less than people think. Its just that I was exposed to it at such a young age and really became good at it at a young age. My dad use to go at the dog track every night along with momma and his brothers and family. I started reading and handicapping the programs when I was in grade school and sent bets out with momma. I had a Dresser full of money when I was in the 5th grade.  Lol

My Dad was considered one of the top handicappers and people were always near him asking him "what's good"? I learned from him and read a lot about handicapping including a book by Jack Fink " The art of Handicapping" which helped a lot. My brother had handicapping articles published in "The Gambling Times" magazine!  My dad also went into the business and owned greyhounds and a kennel.

I was a like a veteran when I finally became old enough to sneak in at the track. In those days you needed to be 18 or 21 for admittance. I started when I was 15 lol.

Sadly because of PITA, there is no more greyhound racing in Florida. The Palm Beach Kennel Club still operates with simulcast horse races and poker.

I used to go to the dog track all the time as a kid. My mom and her best friend would go and gamble, and I would tag along to play the arcades and also pick dogs by looking at odds so they could bet on them. Honestly, a lot of fun memories there.

One thing seems certain.  JT’s new contract guarantees he’s going to be our bell cow running back going forward.  No RBBC as if that was ever the intent.  I’m guessing Shane is pretty stoked that he will be his running back going forward.  The offense he envisioned for the Colts is finally starting to come together.

When I was younger I knew a lot of retired Indiana teachers who were “snowbirds” that traveled to live in Florida during the winter. I’m only 35 so I’ve got a ways to go,  but I’ve already thought of having a place more to the south to go to in the distant future.

I’m fortunate enough to live in southeast Indiana where we have a decent ski resort, that makes the winters worth it at least while I’m young!

I've always played sports my whole life, including Jai-Alai, but I know skiing is not something  I would be able to do.

Props to you.

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky winters are pretty mild, really.  To people from Michigan or Wisconsin, that is the South.  Lol

Jai-Alai? That’s so cool! Very old school (considering it’s 14th century lol)

Florida, including west palm beach had jai-alai frontons. One day my aunt Rose brought some cestas home and her son and me started playing with a lacrosse ball behind shopping center walls. We were awful.at the beginning but we quickly got better and better and started going to Miami to amateur jai-alai courts. Then we started playing the real jai-alai courts when they were closed. My cousin and I were close in talent but he was  just slightly better, especially at scooping. And I started concentrated on other stuff like business etc...while his dream was to be a professional jai-alai player and started playing/practicing more than me. When Jai-alai  dates became year round the frontons  needed more players for Florida and up east. So he made it as a pro and played a couple seasons before he broke his leg in a motorcycle accident.

Playing Jai-alai was my all time favorite sport, not the most lucrative paying sport but playing on a court and catching a rock hard pelota at 140 mph is so exhilarating and awesome.....and dangerous LoL.

I wouldn't trade my experience playing amateur(I won 2 amateur tournaments and my cuz finished 2nd to me) for nothing and neither would my cuz. He played at Palm beach, Daytona and Mexico.

I heard going down a hill on skis is a great feeling too.

It really is, it’s oddly free feeling. I enjoy that it can be really technical at times, and yet there’s also quiet moments where it’s just you and the trees whirling past with everything dark except the trails. Night time skiing is.. well just such an experience.

Mad props to you guys for playing that sport. It’s insane how fast that ball goes!

Did you honestly play jai alai?   To me that may be the most dangerous sport.  I wasn't that impressed until I held a ball they use.   I didn't understand the game. But I respected it

We started with lacrosse balls playing behind shopping centers. My cousin and I progressed to amateur courts in miami(tjere were none in palm beach) and we joined a amateur class in Ft. Pierce which was a real Jai-alai frontons with of course the rock hard pelota....that was dangerous because we were front courters and  had to hope the back counters were good.enough not to accidentally throw at us lol. We fortunately survived getting hit but a couple times we had to call 911 for lesser players getting injured.

The better we got the better the players we played with which became safer.....except they threw harder and the pelota's velocity increased.

I was a pretty good amateur player and my cuz made pro when the Jai-alai dates increased and they needed twice the number of players.

Yes, its a Dangerous sport. The pelota  is rock hard and some  of those pro's can sling it 140-150 mph. Ironically my cousin's career ended not by playing Jai-alai but breaking his leg riding a Ninja motorcycle.

Those were fun days and now I have to be pleased catching a 2 pound bass. :funny:

I'm not a scout or coach.   I'm not gonna call the man a liar

I will. Burrow has been hurt since camp, and he's obviously limited in various ways, including his ability to plant and throw. Especially quickly or off platform. Him saying his ability to throw hasn't been affected is clearly not true, just by watching their games so far. He's a gamer, saying what he's supposed to say. His performance is saying something different so far.

Ok.  Well why is he playing?  If he is that hurt why in the world would the team have their franchise playing hurt

That's a different conversation. I'm only commenting on the obvious fact that his play has been affected by his injury.

In summary for this thread I think most in here are happy that JT has returned; I for one as much to see what Steichen can do with so much talent in our backfield that he was already showing he was capable of playing chess vs checkers prior to JT lacing up.

I think we are in for a show!

Sad to see the thread devolve into the land of keyboard warriors. :(

Was he healthy for rams game,  then got hurt again for the Titans game?

No, he's been playing with injury all season so far... He insists he wants to play, and that's the quote you repeated earlier. Just watch the games, he's okay as a pocket passer but his mobility even within the pocket is compromised and it's very clear he's not the normal self. Winning a game doesn't mean he's not injured, he's just dragging himself to play through injury.

Now coming to the context here....

Chase has not had a great game this season yet like his main rival (for the top WR spot) Jefferson is having. Higgins had one great game, in another game Higgins had 8 targets and zero yards. Chase has had a couple of games like that, where he's got only few yards for his high standards. Some of them could be the receiver's fault, in case of Higgins especially, but Burrow isn't able to get the ball placement right too.

Watching their games, you can see Burrow is not having his best foot movement as try he tries to navigate the pocket and he often struggles this year to get his mechanics right and it's widely talked about due to his injury. Burrow has been having a very uncharacteristic year, throwing 151 times for only 728 yards at 4.8 YPA, 2 TDs and 2 INT and QB rating of 69 that he's playing like a rookie bust. One game they won was a close game, and their defense was able to stop the opponent in last quarter. They have lost two games with 20+ points differential, scoring only 3 points in each of them.

Again, in the context here, Higgins has not had great QB play this year. I think Higgins needs to prove yet he could be a great #1 WR, but he's shown he's explosive and could change the game in few plays in short turnaround.

My personal opinion - Pittman is like Tyler Boyd, can perfectly move the chains and make occasional big plays but he'd take a long drive to turn the match around. Higgins can be much more explosive but at times he could not be as much reliable.

It's up to the Colts head coach and GM to pick their choice on what would work best for them, if they've to choose between Higgins and Pittman.

Personally, my opinion is, I SCÓRN and am disgusted at how high WRs are getting paid in recent years, and very few like Jefferson, Adams, Diggs and Chase can really demand that kind of Elite money, and all others like Higgins and Pittman shouldn't be getting 20+ million anytime! That would be a waste of cap. Colts should concentrate on getting quality receivers via draft, and needs to do a better job at that.

That would be my question to JT, if your health and performance take you to 2026, will you honor the last year of your contract without all the trade / pay me more b.s.?

Yeah this has been a great day in Colts history. Still all some has done is complain and whine over the guy possibly faking an injury or lying. First off, everyone has lied a few times in their lifetime, 2ndly who cares now because it is a moot point and we just added a great offensive weapon. If you go back and look at most of my posts regarding JT, I said he would never get traded and would play as soon as he came off pup. For some reason, some believe everything they hear/read or believed 100's of tweets that no little about our team. Nobody reporting anything about JT never even talked to him, they just assumed and reported making our franchise look bad. Joke is on them Homer Simpson Laughing GIF by FOX TV

Actually….  Based on the Irsay quote about living with this new contract for 4 years….  That takes JT thru 2026.   According to Spotrac, Taylor doesn’t become a free agent until 2027.    That means he could be locked up for the first 7 years of his career.

JT is playing this year under the 4th and final year of his rookie contract.  He gets his signing bonus now, and then the new 3-year contract kicks in next year, 2024.   Then he becomes a free agent for the 2027 season.   Off the top of my head, he’ll be 28 that year.

Now if the football Gods will just grant JT good health the Colts will live with him for four more years.  23, 24, 25 and 26.
