Yes, it is an extension of three years.

I couldn’t be more happy about this. I’m so excited about what this offense can be now.  With Richardson and Taylor together could be huge this so awesome it’s like we just won a big game or something.

once anthony richardson showed flashes sunday that was it for jim irsay .  he gave in because he knows the colts wont have to rebuild next year and will be all in .     good move only 26 million is lock in  so if taylor falls apart its a safe deal .

It's not that simple. Clearly the colts wanted to see the product on the field first before throwing big money. Obviously they like the steps AR has taken and their envisioning a win now mindset with the tandem of AR and JT instead of embracing a rebuild. I don't think this deal gets done if AR struggles and the colts are winless.

Thank you your right finally a real fan.  These other ppl aren’t fans of the team with there complaining. This offense is going to exciting to watch now.

In a worse case scenario, if things go sideways and he gets released, the cap hit would be the 26 million guaranteed money or is it the whole 42 million?

They are criticized if they do and they are criticized if they don't. Ballard is right to do whatever he believes fits the team because regardless of the move, fans will find a way to find fault with a move.

There never was a rebuild what based on last season with terrible coaching terrible QB play. We finally got a coach and QB now we can finally start winning what positions do you want rebuilt? I know we got some problems at CB positions but that happens with injuries and the deal with Rodgers. I guess going take us start winning this year to get ppl to forget about  last year.

No, he’s not rewarding JT. He’s improving the Colts now that 3 things have happened:

 

1. AR showed he’s nowhere as raw as assumed

2. JT must have shown enough in practice or other private workouts that the ankle is fully healed

3. AFC is up for grabs 

 

None of these were guaranteed when the drama started. I for one am thrilled. And despite the weird press conference on Thursday, I understood JT’s stance even if the media hated it.

Exactly like I said. I’ve said from the jump that if he showed up and played this season Irsay would have 1000% given him close to 15M annually. I’ve never had any doubt. None whatsoever. 
 

I’m still mad we had to go this route to get there. This whole %show was entirely unnecessary, and we could have absolutely used Taylor in these first 4 games instead of him holding in or out or sideways or whatever this was. 
 

But now it’s time to move forward and actually get back to work. 
 

Welcome back, now let’s not do this again. Ever.

Are you sure it includes 2023-2024-2025-2026 ?

Since he was already under contract for this year, and they renegotiated, wouldn't 2023 be year one of the three?

If that is indeed the team's reasoning then I'm shaking my head. Taylor had performed coming into this season, we all knew his worth. If a contract offer was done in April we avoid all the ugliness of the past months and more importantly maybe turn either/both of this year's losses to wins.

Bottom line Im happy to have Taylor locked in for 3 more years. But as of right now it all seemed avoidable.

You're looking at things at hindsight. Rookie QBs are not as far along as AR has looked and you add in losing your best player, there wasn't a lot of optimism going into the season.

I am happy for Taylor. I wasn't sure if they would get the deal done; I half expected him to walk away from the team. He might be slowly implemented into the offense, although they could use him immediately after this contract. I'm just relieved the situation has worked out.

It's just my assumption. Clearly it's baseless, but I'm trying to find logic in the situation.

After seeing AR’s good start they decided to pair those two up for a great journey.

      Not having an elite TE for a young qb is almost criminal. I was never a Granson fan even as some compared him to Dallas Clark when drafted. News flash.. He's not in Clark's area code!!! I say roll will Mallory and old reliable Mo Allie for the rest of the season.    Upgrades are needed at TE, a shutdown CB, a stud LB or two, a playmaking FS, a true WR1 (Downs?) and a upgrade is needed at backup RB to Taylor. I also believe that AR needs all help he can get on offense whether that be a couple more upper tier receivers who can actually catch the ball when called upon and maybe another dominant lineman as a starter.   Now hopefully its not Ballard that's once again pulling the trigger on high RAS score type guys that have left this team under .500 overall and on a continued non relevant path league wise as well as a non title holder in the weak AFC south. No one can be held accountable if the man that's making all the moves has little success to show for after being on the job for nearly a decade but hey in Ballard we trust...

      Could not disagree more and it's because coaches and GM's have agendas sometimes that are outside of what's best for the team because it gets clouded by personal emotions. I said two weeks ago that we should NOT have 3 rookies out there playing OL and it was killing the team and AR. They need to put veterans out there and quit thinking your drafted rookies are good enough. Right after I got ripped for saying that and how I dont know what I'm talking about, what happened? They brought Glow in and put a vet like pinter back in and our OL played way better. I said it before, trust what your eyes tell you and not what your told because they are never going to point out bad play by there own players publicly . I said before the year started this TE group was garbage and it will hurt AR in the long run. Ballard said he likes our guys. What happened? This isn't about me, I have read many post by fans on this forum, that in the end, were absolutely correct on their opinions and the coach or Ballard was wrong. I also said AP was a wasted pick. I was wrong, Ballard and coach were right but that doesn't mean they are always right just because they have the title as GM or Coach  and fans are always wrong. Not even close.

      My only concern with Bradley’s status is — does he still “have” the ear of the Defense?  If yes - tough call to send him packing at this point in a possible playoff run.

      Agree that a change in scheme wouldn't change at this time, but a new voice could bring a new mental philosophy and could also dial up a few more blitzes per game as well.   I think we are winning games IN SPITE of our defense, not because of them.  With that thought in mind I don't think firing Gus at this point coukd really be that detrimental to our playoff chances.  That's just my opinion, though. Peace.
