Reich gives up the play calling duties - I know this is seven, but I want it as a bonus too. He's not a bad play caller, but I think being a head coach is more than enough responsibility.

We are in total agreement on that.   More than one time he said he didn't realize something that was happening in the game.   Play calling seems to require too much of his attention and he neglects other coaching responsibilities.

On offense, the three I chose would really make us formidable, and I do think they are tied together, especially the Ryan/Hines choices.

The two I didn't choose: I don't think a healthy Parris guarantees anything. Granson becoming #2 TE could be the result of injuries or simply the other TE's not being very good.

On defense, having two young stud pass rushers will pay huge dividends in the 4th quarter of games as Olines are getting tired. A strong pass rush will also make our secondary better (so no need to choose Blackmon or Gilmore options).

Third choice, scheme & coaching. Players have to make plays, but coaches need to put them in a position to succeed.

Same as Parris, I don't think a healthy Lewis guarantees much more than depth. Not minimizing what he can contribute, but with only choosing three, this one has less impact, IMO.

I agree with all except Parris.  He is a huge weapon for the offense and having him on the field will pay huge dividends.  I think he could be the Colts number 1 WR this season.

That's quite possible, but it was hard for me to choose without ever seeing his production over a full season. I hope you are right!

1. Matt Ryan improves our short passing game. We were actually 9th in the league in scoring last season with Wentz at 26.5 points a game. If Ryan masters the short passing game we could easily be top 5 in scoring. To win in this league you have to score points. I put this in the same category has Hines getting used correctly.

2. Gus raises the level of the defense with his scheme and coaching. We got burnt way too many times on the short to mid pass. It killed us in many games, Lawrence looked Joe Montana against us for example. If we can at least stop this somewhat, it will make a huge difference.

3. Kwitty makes his 2nd year leap as a pass rusher. We will be really on good on defense if he does paired with Yannick. Having 2 good pass rushers is vital in today's game.

  1. Gus Raises the level of defense with scheme and coaching
    1. The most fixable thing we needed from last year to this was to stop playing ultra-soft zone against 3rd and long.  Best thing we did in the offseason was "allow" Flus to go to Chicago.
  2. Matt Ryan improves short passing game
    1. Well...  Improves the passing game overall.  Especially in the area of Judicial Quarterbacking.  Take the layup.  Make the layup.  You don't need to pass up a good thing for more difficult amazing thing.
  3. Pryor becomes a stable starter on the offensive line
    1. Or Raimann.  Doesn't matter which.  LT is the weak spot right now.  Let's make it better.
  4. Gilmore becomes a valuable fixture to the secondary
    1. He's an upgrade from Rhodes.  He's the best CB we've had since Vontae Davis, and potentially better.
  5. Yannick continues his floor number of sacks at the very least
    1. Kwity might have been able to play the Leo position.  Yannick is the Leo position.
  6. Kwity makes second year leap as pass rusher
    1. He'd better make the leap.  He's a 1st round draft choice DE.  Needs to do what 1st rounders do.
  7. BONUS -- Parris gets healthy and plays entire season
    1. Parris can potentially be a matchup nightmare.  If he actually sees the field.  And not just a little.

*Parris gets healthy and plays the whole season (I was super high on him before we drafted him, and I still think he has legit #1 talent.)

*Matt Ryan improves our short passing game (Important for the short term, but less so for the long term.)

*Blackmon returns to form (We need him now more than ever with Khari retiring.)

*Yannick continues his "floor" number of sacks at the very least (Pass rush is what this team needs most.)

*Dayo emerges as a pass rusher (Pass rush is what this team needs most.)

*Kwity makes his second year leap as a pass rusher (Broken record…Pass rush is what this team needs most.)

I'll be happy with this one.  Colts had the 11th best defense last year in scoring allowed.  If he can elevate them to say 5th overall this team will win a ton of games.

And btw yes if the offense is good enough you can carry a team during the regular season by outscoring your opponents and even have a high win total.  But that requires explosive playmakers on the perimeter and threats at every level.  Colts aren't loaded like that.  They have a great run game, which is best paired with a nasty defense that allows them to dominate or even just threaten to dominate opponents with it.

*Parris gets healthy and plays the whole season
     - I think this is something we HAVE to know this season with him. When healthy, is he a
difference maker, if yes, addressing the WR position becomes so much less of a need

*Hines finally gets used correctly and has a quasi breakout year

     - I chose this over the Matt Ryan top one because this would somewhat imply that,
and Hines is being paid too well to not be utilised properly.

*Yannick continues his "floor" number of sacks at the very least

     - This and if we are being extra wish-listy, that he reaches 14-15 sacks, our defense has been
missing this sort of threat since Mathis retired.

*Gus raises the level of the defense with his scheme and coaching

     - This offense, with a defense that continues to turn the ball over AND the level of defense
is raised over what it was last year.... look out.

*Dayo emerges as a pass rusher
*Kwity makes his second year leap as a pass rusher
     -
Yannick, Dayo and Paye all coming at you and they are all good / great pass rushers....
that just wouldnt be fair. And tbh, we spent so much draft capital here, this is needed
       to justify it.

These 6 bolded ones please.

Unless Matt Ryan has fallen off greatly physically since last season, which can and will happen as he ages.

Colts Mid and Short Passing Game has one of the most underrated master Passers at that level.

Colts fans should be really excited if that was a deficiency last year, unless players just can't catch will be a team strength.

Matts weakness historically is his deep passes have to have big windows since he just doesn't have the big arm. He has a strong arm, just not the big arm for darts 40 yards down the field.

Idk what people's weird obsession is with wanting Hines to be used more. We have the best running back in the league going into his 3rd season. I cringe every time we give Hines an entire series.

The only time I want to see Hines on the field is when he's lined up in the backfield with JT, out wide, or to give JT a breather for a play or 2. Definitely don't want to see him enough to the point he has a "breakout year."

My list goes:

*Matt Ryan improves our short passing game

*Parris gets healthy and plays the whole season

*Gus raises the level of the defense with his scheme and coaching

re: Hines the idea is to use him more in the passing game, out-of the backfield, in the slot, sideline sweep shots, not so much more run attempts.  They had him working out with the WR in otc and mini-camp, looking to better utilize his skill set.
