My main concerns are how the defense looks, the returning injured players and if the OL can be consistently decent.  By default if the OL is better, Gore will make the run game better!  Im not too concerned about Luck and chemistry with the WR's.  Ive heard reports that he has been working with the new WR's in the offseason, and plus that also comes with time.  The defense in particular will have my eyes glued to them.  I truly believe if the OL stays healthy and the defense steps up.  The Colts will be making a trip to the bay area in Feb!

Ultimately . . . do all these aging players still have a couple good NFL seasons in them?

Also do the injured players hold up.  We have seen both Thomas and Ballard go down in training camp the year after suffering a major injury.  So not only are these guys healthy but can they hold up much like do the older players hold up and do they have one or two seasons left in them.

Really.  One good season is all I'm asking for.

Cole, Herrimens, AJ, Gore, our safeties, even D'Qwell and Cherilus.  Give us one more good season.  We have some decent talent behind them for the future.

Robinson is a lock to make the roster. I honestly have him as a better RB than Boom

But due to what Boom gave us last year he'll be a lock at #2, it's his job to lose

A 6th round rookie RB on a deep squad of capable RBs is in no way a "lock".

I wouldn't say the Colts RB corps is really all that deep. It's basically Gore, Boom, & Robinson. Sure, Ballard and Tipton are on the depth chart, but the other 3 are all better options in my opinion, even the 6th rounder.

I don't think we're relying on either of those guys.  However Thomas holding up would mean more then Ballard I would say.  Ballard did well for us his rookie year and stuff but he didn't really go above and beyond what I would expect out of just an average RB.

5 guys battling for what is likely only 3 spots, 2 guys are near locks (Gore, Boom). So in reality it's 3 guys fighting for 1 spot (Ballard, Robinson, Tipton) and some of us aren't just going to write Ballard off. As much as we all want Robinson to be that guy from the Kentucky game, nothing is guaranteed for a 6th round RB.

Personally, I really like Robinson and I think he makes the final 53 but he's far from a "lock". I could see a situation where he starts on the PS with Ballard as the 3rd back.

In my opinion he is. Ballard is done here & Tipton can be beat out by Robinson.

Andrew Luck is a lock, TY Hilton is a lock, Anthony Castonzo is a lock, etc. Robinson is not. If you have to say "in my opinion he is (a lock)", then he's probably not a lock.

I've seen him play. I'll go on record saying he's an average RB, nothing special. IMO, if he makes the roster it's because Ballard is still injured.

I'll be happy to take the abuse if I'm wrong.

Or... it just means I have my own opinion

I have no confidence in Ballard who's missed the past 2 seasons from non-contact injuries hard to trust he'll be able to withstand contact

they are just two coming off injuries. I'd include GC and Mathis in that list. I just didn't mention them because they didn't get re-injuried following the previous season but I do think it's a question to if all four can hold up. Granted Ballard and Thomas might just be bonuses but say GC can't go a guy like Thomas might become real important then because he could become a starting guard to let mewhort play right tackle.

I don't know about Smith beating out Butler for the slot position. Butler has played very well for us in that particular spot. I think he has a better chance at beating Toler for the #2 spot than Butler for the slot.
