No News...... is GREAT News

July 11th, 2015 & we've heard no reports of :colts: players being arrested, drunk driving, or having their hands blown off by fireworks

Training Camp is nearing and it looks like everyone will be in attendance unless they're injured like Robert Mathis or something. This is very good to see/know

Hang in there Colts Nation, the drought is almost over!!!! :grouphug:

:cheer::yahoo:

I think it's kinda sad how we're so celebratory that none of the Colts players got into trouble. It's like we have super low expectations for them and when they don't do anything illegal, we think it's a reason to celebrate.

I'm not sure if it's that, or people were just saying there's an awful lot of craziness going on and we're both fortunate and proud that our guys are not in trouble or in the headlines like so many others. :dunno:

It's not sad.... almost every week there's some NFL player beating a woman, drunk driving, or failing a drug test.

We should have every right to be happy when it's not a :colts: player who's being that person

Better than my Mark 2 acoustic from Wal-Mart that I used to have.

I actually felt like I ripped the guy off who bought it from me for $10 in a garage sale.

Ouch, yeah that's tough!

I'm in dire need of a new acoustic, would love to go with a Martin or Taylor.

With regards to the thread, no news is great news indeed!!!!

This is the time of year when bad things happen. We've had more than our share of that -- going all the way up to the owner -- the past two offseasons. Being happy that none of the stupid player decisions we're hearing about right now are related to the Colts is normal.

I wanna mention the overall attitude of the Colts locker room as it relates to this.

I know every year, our goal is the Super Bowl but I really. REALLY think that this year is different and honestly, I’m not the only one.  I think our roster feels the same. They can taste it. It’s why we have Andre and Frank this year because they could see it even when they were with different teams.  Vegas can see it (because of betting odds). ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless and Cari Champion can see it too (though I usually don't care)

No one on this roster wants to be the guy who ruins what could possibly the most important year of football in the lives of nearly everyone in this organization.  I mean that’s obvious I guess but, I’ve played with a few losing teams in my life and it’s ALWAYS different when you think you have a genuine shot at the “show”.

Also, you know after a huge loss last season, I’m sure all these guys wanted to blow of some serious steam and just really cut loose. But I think that because there has been no news it’s GREAT news. It shows how serious this roster is taking next season.

I've gotta give shakedownstreet major props because he is consistently hysterical on both the PG & adult front. My kindda dude with the next level humor. Well played sir.

If I'm being honest, M-432 & Peytonator are just as twisted with their humor as SW1 is...That's actually a complement I think; No seriously, it is. You fellas are a riot.

hopefully the blow-up dolls & cans of whip-cream found in my their trunk gets left out of the police report

These are strictly so you can drive in the carpool lane at rush hour right SDS? No other reason I'm sure.  haha

Either that or that old guy from the E-Harmony dating site lied when he claimed he could furnish anybody with a soulmate. Hang in there man. I kid; I kid.

TC is not here yet, Still a couple weeks to do something stupid

I stared at that for awhile before I finally figured out what it meant. Training Camp. Not my finest hour to be sure. My fault; not yours Gavin. I'm pretty dense sometimes. Sometimes? Hey, no need to be truthful now.  haha

TK even mentioned training camp when he started this thread & it still went over my head. Nobody will ever confuse me with Albert Einstein that's for sure. Oh well, laughing at yourself keeps you humble right?

let's all gather around a campfire and sing kumbaya together accompanied by someone's bad accoustic guitar skills

Good one Mr.NLM! Cute. How come Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" or Led Zeppelin's "Stairway To Heaven" isn't played more frequently at a crackling campfire? No place to plug in the amplifier I guess.

You do make a good point though. Guys who claim they can play & can't really do blow. It's like a person who can't sing & you wish you could put the tortured cat out of it's misery. Enough said.

Present company excluded from my criticisms of course [Peytonator & M-432 are also exempt as well.]

Not to be bringing the bad news, but wasn't it the start of TC and Pre Season when the bad news starts to come?  Players going on IR (D Thomas) early, getting kicked off the team for violating teams policy (Chris Rainey), DUI (Duh Rick Rodgers)...  Let's not jump the gun too soon.  Players are probably just relaxing because things are just getting started.  Kind of like the calm before the storm.  Just kidding, let's all pray nothing bad happens, because this year the Colts could be something special, if things don't go sour.

Its the world we live in, Too many athletes grow up in a one or sometimes no parent home.

This leaves them without good supervision and corrective action as consequences.

I really think every team in every sport should have an assigned mentor and a team account with Uber so players quit driving drunk

yes, it is sad, and you gave the reason why:

"almost every week there's some NFL player beating a woman, drunk driving, or failing a drug test."

It's sad that those kinds of things happen every week and it's sad that we consider it celebration worthy to see none of the Colt players getting into legal trouble.  The ones staying out of trouble should be the norm, not the exception.

Loucheiz Purifoy was suspended for 10 games today. Apparently his act never quite got together after leaving us. He showed some decent promise in his time here.

But when you come in to the league with bath salt charges already pending against you I guess you can't come to expect much.

    • But if the Colts sign someone next week or the week after then it really doesn’t matter.    I would’ve preferred we sign some two weeks ago.   Get them familiar with the DC and position coach.   But once we didn’t then it really doesn’t matter when.  It just matters that we do it before camp opens.  At least to me.    And the fact no one else is signing these top FA safeties tells me the market just isn’t there yet.   I’m preaching a healthy dose of patients.
    • How about getting a proven commodity in the FA market? I know that assumes the player wants to be here, but money talks and the Colts have some. This D needs a solid center fielder. Simmons fits that role perfectly. If he’s gettable, here’s to Ballard pulling the trigger, even if it’s a slight overpay. The team CANNOT leave this crucial position to players who have consistently underperformed in the past (Cross and Thomas).
    • All - this is the real question.   What do the 32 GMs in the league know that the rest of us (we're on the outside looking in) don't know?   Answer that question and you'll have what you need to analyze the choices made by the leadership of your favorite team.
    • We have the weak secondary where a player in FA can be signed for a year and get a starting job. We also have the money to afford any of them. Not too many other teams have that combination of both factors right now. Also, the draft recently happened and I'm guessing a lot of these teams want to try out their early round picks in the secondary right now. We didn't draft anyone in the secondary until the 5th round. We are somewhat desperate (not to mention Daniel Scott is out for the year again). Other teams are not at the moment.
    • Why do you think A and B are the only options?    What’s the reason for Ballard to be cheap?   What incentive would there be?    Posters like Superman and w87r have crunched the numbers.  The Colts are among the league leaders in spending.     Ballard’s is going into his 8th year.  He’s been competitive in 6 of the 8 seasons and I personally think season 1 was a tank.    Also…. Ballard always says the team is always looking to improve.  It’s now mid-June, so the Colts have 5 more weeks to sign someone before camp starts.  There are a number of FA safeties available.  Why aren’t the other 31 teams signing these players either.  They’re certainly good enough.  But it’s Ballard who is wrong or incompetent or cheap or something and not anyone else.
