Year after year after year after year...still the same ol' story with the Colts. They can't tackle or stop the run.

You're way off base.  They've done an excellent job against the runningbacks.  The quarterback is the issue.

The run defense against Pryor was awful. And nothing was changed at halftime, no adjustments. My biggest concern is, where is the pass rush. There was little to no pressure on him when dropping back. Put Mathis back where he belongs, and see if that helps. Not a good performance at all today. Big dissappointment.

Finally someone without blinders on.

LOL

So the QB running for over 100 yards is a good job? O.k. If you're happy with that, best of luck.

Oakland had 171 rushing yards. If that's good, well.....

TIME OUT!!!!!

You're a Lions fan talking to Colts fans about "Defense"? Our defense can't stop the read option.

YOUR DEFENSE CAN'T STOP ANYONE! Wasn't Adrian Peterson's first carry a 78 yarder against.... hmmm..... oh that's right the LIONS.

Please, sweep around your own front door before sweeping around other's

A Detroit lion fan talking to us about defense?   That quarterback runs almost a 4.2 40, there aren't many teams in this league that could totally bottle that up.  Quit trying make an issue out of a non issue.

This was our first time seeing the read option.  True they watch tape and our coached up, but to actually see and be apart of it in live action is totally different.  Our defense came through when needed, they had pressure on the QB (Pryor was running around all willy-nilly at times), we will be better.  I would be more concerned with a few blown assignments on defense that gave up some big plays, but once again it was the first game.  It's OK!!

Uh no. we can stop the run, you clearly werent watching the game. we held mcfadden down pretty darn good, Pryor was just a ***** to play against, alot better than I thought he was, great in the pocket and with scrambling.

They didn't stop the run. QB's aren't supposed to run for over 100 yards. Ketchup.

You just tried to make a defense point using Adrian Peterson. lol

He's kind of good. Oh, and he only had 15 more rushing yards after that 78 yarder. Since we're counting.

They didn't stop the run. 171 yards says otherwise. Is delusion part of being a Colts fan or something?

What part of "traditional" did you not comprehend?

McFadden was 17 for 48.

The dread "mobile QB" and the option under Pryor's feet tore us up.

Oh and I'm thinking of supporting your bankrupt city by buying some works of art from your Detroit Museum's clearance sale.

    • Roger's could get turned but catch back up before the ball got there.   I was rooting for Flowers especially because up he did run I n the 4.3s.  It is so sad that "intelligent" posters here post endless endlessly that in Gus's D our corners don't need speed.   With two deep safeties any good QB will pick it apart with current rules. Playing single high when they stack receivers the CB on the opposite side is really playing regular old everyday man. Per Pro football Reference Gus" played man 28% of the time. What kind of madness is it to put a 6'2" CB that ran a 4.57 on ANY of the Many 4.3's WR's? This is your plan?
    • I think what happened is Ballard had a list of 3-4 guys he was willing to take on the trade-down. Mitchell was on top of his list. He might have thought because of the rumors of character concerns and poor work ethic that he may fall to 52, and he had a few backup options on top of his board behind him he was fine with. It was probably worth the gamble to Ballard to get two extra 5th round picks since we only had 7 picks at the time and Ballard likes to build through the draft.
    • This was my point that I posted not long after AD was selected. Many have said and are still saying that Ballard was a genius that figured out the 6 picks that followed him trading back in round 2. There's no was Ballard said something like "wow , I can't believe this guy fell to us ." I could take him here but , I know he's not going to be selected in the next 6 picks , so I'll trade back." It's way more likely that he trades up 4-5 spots if he valued AD that much  more than the other players at the top of his board.  I think Ballard did a really good job in this draft but there's no way in heck , he traded back with certainty that AD would be there at 52.
    • Wow!    You're on fire today.   Post after post that are classically you.  Only you have these views.   That’s why these posts are so easy to remember for years.   I’m struggling to find anything to agree with.   Not that you’d care what my opinion is.  I just couldn’t help but finally respond today.   Sorry.
    • Great interview!!   Both the Colts 1st round and 2nd round picks fell right in to their laps!!   Preparation + luck are equal parts of the equation!!
