finally getting players back on the practice field is always a good sign. hopefully Mathis, Brown, Redding, Moala are all back on the practice field this week. oh yea and Justin Anderson and hopefully provide quality depth at the Guard position since Reitz was seen limping Sunday around the stadium knee still bothering him:

"LG Joe Reitz was limping in the locker room. That explains why, after he sounded so encouraged to make his season debut Sunday, he instead was among the inactives. The knee evidently needs some strengthening. "- p.wilson

I think Reitz should ALMOST shut it down this year and recover 100 percent, he has 2 years left on his deal and I dont think he is going anywhere since he is our best interior pass blocker although Linkenbach did have a good game in both areas (in my opinion). Linkenbach is in the final year of his deal and I'd like to see how he can handle the Guard position in this scheme

Yes!

I like how Mookie has been plugging up the holes but he is not really built to be a 3-4 NT, while Chapman was.

As long as he stays healthy which is a huge concern. He should pan out to be, at the very least, an average NT for our defense.

I didn't think Chapman had injury problems while at Bama did he? Just had the knee at the end of the season to take care of. I'm not sure, I didn't really follow Chapman during his time in college so I could very well be wrong. Either way, yeah, get healthy, stay healthy and plug up that middle.

Well if I remember correctly, he played with a tore ACL. That is a heck of any injury to play through.

Yep. He chose to play with an ACL rather than sit out the season. He's a great kid.

That being said, I hope people don't expect him to come in and solve all of our problems. That's a very hard position to learn and play in the NFL. It could take a year before he develops, if indeed he does. And we're assuming his knee is not only healed bur ready for a couple 300 lb guys to lean on him every play.

Yeah just playing through that kind of injury is a heck of a feat.

Exactly, people just expect him to be dominant coming into the league because he was main part of how Alabama won the national championship. I think he needs to be brought in slowly so he doesn't re-injure his ACL. But in the long run, if he stays healthy, he could be a very good NT for us.

If he can just hit the field at any point of this season just to knock the dust off his pads would be terrific.. I say get him some experience this year and hopefully next season he has a strong preseason and camp.. And ends up showing enough potential at DT so that in next years draft we can address other areas of need.

i was saying during the draft if we landed this kid it would be a steal especially if it was in the later rounds. i have a good feeling this kid will be a very good player on that DLine. especially if he stays healthy. and if we can get the LB's completely healthy, dont be surprised if this defense gets better.

Chapman was one of the strongest stoutest players in all of football with a 580 bench press an 660 squat he has natural leverage at 6'1" 320 an when u can't push 580 he gonna collapse pocket like Vince wilfork does lol hopefully so no more stepping up from pass rush

Those weights are good, but what's really crazy is I used to work out with a couple guys who could lift more. Way more, one was about 310 and other guy was like 260ish...ripped. At 190 I used to squat 500. But that bench number is impressive. I could only bench most ever was 375. Bt that strength combined with weighting 320 is a force! Lol

our defense just keeps getting better and better. give it a couple of years and we can have a top 5 defense.

Going to need to find another cb and rush DE/LB before we can get dominate. I think we may need to find a better SS as well. A lot to ask for in 2 years.

we have tons of space for free agency and I expect a heavy dose of defense in the draft.

Off subject just a bit. Can we use our 7th round pick for the rights to Jadeveon Clowney? Only a sophomore now but will be the top pick in the draft after his junior year. Just a thought.

I love outside the box thinking, so props to you for trying...

But the NFL doesn't allow that type of thing. You can only draft players who make themselves available for the draft. No one else. I think that's how all pro leagues work nowadays...

I think the last time anyone did something like that was the Celtics and Larry Bird nearly 35 years ago. (I'm sure it happened by someone in some league since then, I just don't know who...?)

Still... props to you for trying....

The Larry Bird Rule.....ended that in virtually every sport...correct...other than baseball...where the kids are recruited at 12 in the Dominican. Spot on Sir! :)

Great news!

We need him back asap, as Mookie is getting worse and worse.

Chapman would be a big upgrade at NT.

Lol wow really? Colts stuffed the run agaunst the browns, angerer, conner and freeman were clean most of the game. Mookie even got a couple of hits on weeden so he was even providing something in terms of pass rush. What on earth do you want from the guy ?
