If Luck is ready it will make no difference who the center is. Luck increases the chance of winning and Ballard and or Pagano are not going to sit him if has cleared medical.

You can't babysit or sit him to protect him.

If it does come down to that hopefully Luck will protect himself as best as he can.

Huh?

It makes no difference if the center is Ryan Kelly or some undrafted free agent?

Is that what you meant to say?

Really?        Seriously?

I'm replacing my food regimen with a a 50 gallon drum of vodka. If Ryan Kelly's out 6-8 weeks, then so am I.

You live in Colorado? Meet up with me and we'll go to the Casino. Much better than drinking away your worries. Take it out on some poor poker players! :)

Pagano has already said,  they gave it a week in a walking boot  to see if it healed or improved at all.     It didn't.

There's nothing wrong with giving it a week.

Which is why I question the initial diagnosis. Nothing that would require surgery could possibly heal in a week or two unless he was Wolverine.

I thought it was really clear what he meant.  He is saying the team will not hold Luck out if healthy and cleared to play, just because Ryan Kelly is hurt and out for a while.  That's what he posted anyway....

LOL, I'm almost ready to say: let him rest until Kelly is back. Almost, as we would then go 4-12 or something like that.

You might have something there . Might just be the better way to go . CAN NOT have Andrew constantly fighting injuries the rest of his career !!!!!

I think what he meant was if Luck is healthy he's going to play regardless of who the Center is:thmup:  That's my understanding anyways.

Pagano is interviewed on the front of the website.

Surgery was always a possibility.    They gave it a chance to heal on it's own.    After a week --- no sign of improvement,  so they elected surgery.

There was no misdiagnosis.

The problem comes because the team doesnt tell you everything up front.    That's not what teams do.

They tell you stuff when they have to.     A week ago,  they didn't have to give too many details.    Today,   they do.

OK....

Thanks....    that's not quite the way I read it,  but your way seems much more reasonable....

Appreciate the 411...

It was a response to another post. It was suggested that Luck should sit if Kelly is not going to start. Please re read and I am sure you will understand my comment.

Tthinking on it, if they get a viable replacement or Schwenke is healthy, it should be fine enough.

You're right that they wouldn't consider it. Luck, coaches, and Ballard will want him to play when he's ready.

Otheres have chimed in on your behalf.      I have a better understanding now.

Sorry for the confusion.

This doesn't have to be the end of the world. Ballard has to pony up and pay Zuttah It looks like the Ravens are in the lead to sign him. That's the move I think we should make. Mangold is out there too. We need to bring in a real C. It's not like we lost our LT. I can't imagine that Ballard doesn't go outside the building quickly.

This sucks but we have options.  Bond and waiting for Schwenke is not one. This should not have any impact on Luck's return.

RD 1   Castonzo

When a team comes across a franchise qb, the first thing that should be done

is to keep him healthy and protected. These picks are good but obviously not good enough.

People will be sorely disappointed when we are looking to find a serviceable qb after having Manning and Luck.

4 pages over the loss of a Center.   Albeit a very good young center but I think we can get through this.   I'm not in panick mode just yet

lol nahh we're good, we just don't know the first two people touching the ball will be. But who knows, maybe Gore will run for 2000 yards this year.

The response on the board is hilarious considering how many people said Kelly was a bad draft pick last year.

Personally, I think Bond will hold his own until Kelly comes back.  He has Haeg and Mewhort on each side of him.

Another possibility is they move Mewhort to center and bring in Banner at RG.  They may not be too bad either.

Gore got almost half of his yardage last year on runs up the middle through holes that Kelly created. It's definitely a significant loss, it probably shouldn't be, but it is.

I remember those that were upset about selecting a center so high, saying they are the easiest to find later on. I am with krunk on this one. I obviously prefer Kelly to be out there, but I think Ballard will find a suitable replacement for the short term. Luck getting back affects our win loss record much more than losing Kelly. I just want our guys to heal quick and get on the field and represent the horseshoe. I may be alone on this but if this D and running game can step up in Luck or Kelly's absence, we can shock a lot of people late in the season. We do need to see our D win us games for once, hope it's this year!

I think it was split 50/50. I wanted Jack Conklin, but was happy when we got him as he was definitely the right with our gaping hole at C. Also, even if people said he was a bad pick last year, even the most shortsided person can realize how well he performed last year and how valuable he was for the team. Opinions can change in a year, you know.

Major Injuries almost always occur for the Colts. Kelly is a bad loss because he protects the QB. And Andrew coming off surgery, I want someone I can trust to keep him healthy. Next man up is cliche for the Colts

Kelly was probably the 4th worst loss we could of had on the team (we already lost Luck, and only Vontae and Hilton could be worse). He was the glue that held this O-Line together, and one of the few elite players we had IMO. I'm actually hoping Luck is out while Kelly is out, just because I worry he'll get reinjured rather quickly if we rush him back and he gets demolished.

Honestly, the Colts organization could be thinking the same thing
