If this signing doesn't happen, Beanie Wells is still on the market if Grigs wants another RB.

No thanks. We already have one bust from the 09 rb class.

Would you consider Brown a bust?

Imo he's not amazing but he does a job. True there are quite a few people who could do it better but he could be a whole lot worse as well.

*Thinks back to a couple of weeks ago when I was mock drafting Luck, Wayne, Ballard, and Bradshaw with my last pick*

I knew a team would pick Bradshaw up but, I had no inkling of Grigson and the Colts being the first serious suitor.

As I look at the NFL as a whole... there are not many teams AT THIS POINT IN TIME that have a hage need at RB.

Jets(but they went and signed Goodson), Chargers(Still won't get off the Mathews train), maybe Green Bay(when DON'T they need a RB lately... even with Lacy)

lol Ok looking at Beanie Wells stats some more, he's constantly injured and under-produces.

I hang my head in shame of the suggestion haha

Hang down your head Tom Dooley, hang down your head and cry...

Beanie is a very poor man's Donald Brown... :)

He has done nothing to deserve be a first round pick

Damn the crap that pops into my head sometimes... that little gem has so much dust on it, it was pulled from my grandpa's record collection...

Sure, but he had nothing to do with where he was picked. His draft position was irrelevant the minute after he walked off the stage, except to record keepers and a GM's legacy.

That was the worse top 3 draft picks at RB ever, 1st Broncos Moreno, Then Brown, Then Wells just think about that

Only for Lesean McCoy to get picked a few spots later in the 2nd round. :sigh:

Very true but he hasn't had more than 150 carries in a season. He would produce more if he had more carries but I think he would get injured more. Plus you have other people such as Ballard who can do a job too.

The only glaring concern that I have on Wells is health concerns at only 24. His 1 year starting 14 games he had 10 td's and 1047 yard on 245 carries (4.3 ypc), So the kid can play. I do have questions about his attitude.......He openly said he was auditioning for other teams because he believed he was going to be cut by the Cards...Which came to pass however so he was right....But still. If Im a curent teammate I dont want to hear that, It sounds like he checked out

I kind of really want him. Now that I think about it, he would help us so much. Him and Ballard would probably split carries which would keep each fresh all season long. Health is key for running backs and I don't trust Brown or Carter. I like Williams as a pass catching back but not to get many rushes.

This should be merged in the already merged Bradshaw topic. Just because we haven't heard any news in a whole day doesn't mean we need another topic to ask ourselves if we've heard any news.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Oh Good Lord..........

AB will teach Ballard ...  and maybe Brown..   how to step into the "hot tub", and step onto the training table,   or ride a stationary bike....

SIGH....................

I really want this signing to happen. I think the guy is a winner and could groom our young stable of RB and teach them how to be champions

    • You're probably right.  But a franchise LT is the more important position.  More than RT, and even an All Pro LB.   I'm not saying he'll sacrifice either of them in order to sign Fisher long term.  But I think that once they see that Fisher can play, they'll want to wrap him up long term.  He won't be cheap either.   I think it was on one of the podcast they pointed out where all of the LTs for the playoff teams were drafted.  Getting one that works out past the first round is pretty rare.  And we probably won't even have a first rounder next year.
    • That's possible, and sounds familiar. So how many plays might that happen on in a given game, and how many players are affected by it? Ultimately, what kind of impact could it have on a player grade if PFF throws out 5-10 plays a game?   Also, if a player was nursing a left leg injury, and used a different technique than usual to try to mitigate that injury, in turn taking a loss on a few plays, PFF grades them negatively. Which is fine. But that might result in a player having a month of lower grading than usual, with PFF not acknowledging the injury in their grading. They publish those lower grades, and fans/media say 'this player had a bad month at the end of last season, he's not a hot free agent.' Team X says 'he's outstanding when he's healthy, and he battled through injury, let's give him a huge contract,' and the response is 'PFF says he's not that good, that's a bad contract.'    Nothing wrong with PFF's grade, he did have a bad month. But they have a blind spot to context in their raw grading. And people who consume their grades have a tendency to quote them as if they are definitive. That's my overall point about their grading, and why it's not as valuable to me as it seems to be to others.
    • The media picked up the Fisher news yesterday when they had the film session with Ballard.  Ballard said they want to do a long term deal once Fisher proves he can come back from his injury.  Don’t look for anything soon.  Honestly I expect Leonard and Smith extensions before the season starts and Fisher at some point in the season if he comes back.  If they can’t get one done in season it wouldn’t shock me to see the Colts tag him and then do one if he recovers.
    • Of course they were drafted to be 3 down lineman, so their ability to run 20-30 yards or more sideline to sideline to fill gaps and make plays may prove vital numerous times per game..
    • I point to it because it keeps happening. And now Sharp's breakdown makes it clear that it's not just in my mind. The Colts are near the bottom in multiple categories. (But again, it's not a market/popularity thing. In fact, some of the teams that have been really bad for a long time are near the top, suggesting it's kind of the opposite.)   To structured scheduling, I think you could get a week of all division matchups. I believe they've done it at times in the past, usually toward the end of the season (especially after 2009). But I do think you undersell the difficulty of shared venues with other events. The teams/admins that own those venues want to host as many events as possible, outside of the 8-12 football games they have every year. That's another 40 weekends they can have a convention, concert, whatever.   Not sure what you mean about flex scheduling. They're not flexing games between days, just times. (Right? Did that change and I missed it?) And there are teams that have solo stadiums, but shared parking (like the Ravens/Orioles, and that caused an issue with the 2013 opener), or other weird little exceptions that the schedule makers have to account for. Late December games in Buffalo, early September games in Florida, etc., and how often visiting teams are subjecting to those potential extremes, should be factored in. There's a lot.   But they could do a Rivalry Week every year. I think one week could be done. Ravens/Steelers, Packers/Bears, Giants/Cowboys, Pats/Jets, etc. I don't really think the Colts have a division rivalry, but I guess it would be the Texans?    As for AZ, I'm actually in SoCal. I just didn't have the bandwidth to type a response last night. They added some good players, whether they can still perform at a high level is questionable. I think Watt is still good. Green, depends on Kyler Murray, which is kind of the only thing that matters with AZ right now, whether he can step up.
