Shawne Merriman released by Bills [Merge]

I see. I thought that's what had happened, but I wasn't 100% sure and didn't wanna start rumors or say something that isn't true. Thanks for the correction!

No problem, Merriman has basically been horrible every since he got caught. San Diego must have known that without him being juiced up that he wasn't going to be any good, and they were right.

Over the next few weeks about 1500 guys or so are going to be released and in all honesty there will only be small handful, maybe 1-2% that would actually be a good fit/upgrade.

That doesn't mean we are gonna have 1500 threads on if those players should come to the colts does it?

I dont see how we are thin at ILB we have 8 healthy ILB's and 2 that are on IR. I dont think we are thin anywhere really except Corner and Guard, we have 10 Corners and none have really stepped up outside of a gimme interception vs Rams, way to many missed tackles by our Corners and to many easy completions given up

Cat has a serious case of the NOs upon seeing this thread.

LOL!!! I have seen you post this before but this time when I played it, my bull mastiff heard it from the other room. she ran up to my computer and tipped her head back and started howling like crazy. It literally made my 3 year old boy roll on the ground he was laughing so hard! LOL Thanks for the laugh.

I know the first time a player people have heard of there are all sorts of posts thinking we should pick them up. With that said..... Why not pick up Merriman cheap and help teach the 3-4 to some young players. He has/had talent.

It could be worth a minimum salary. Kind of like Donnie Avery..

Worse case you cut him during the last round of cuts...ala Tommy Harris..

    • Strongest Groups 1. OL 2. DL 3. WR   Weakest Groups 1. CB 2. S 3.LB     Slight difference from your groups but when  I analyzed the weakness the back end of our D is scary starting at LBer back.
    • Eagles sometimes seem like they are flying by the seat of their pants.    They don't truly gauge team chemistry and fit completely because they hedge their bets on a few marquee free agents they sign for 2 years typically tops, hoping they will fit. As far as their core, they got Hurts, Brown and DeVonta Smith plus Goedert and their OL/DL. The RB positions and secondary, they dabble a lot in free agency. Hey, if you can fit it into the cap and make it work, that is great but they need that 1 SB to show for it, like the Rams did. They have actually had far more swings in FA over several more years than the Rams.   Texans are just new to that FA party.
    • Some people just don't get it. In most cases, with today's ridiculous salaries, once most of these free agents get that big guarateed contract, they lose their edge and desire. Money is their motivation, once they get it,in most cases, the motivation disappears.
    • Yeah, I think we over performed considering the talent at QB and the defense.  Which is a credit to the coaching staff.   Woods never really played and he's a difference maker at TE, very hard to cover.  They really didn't utilize Pierce to his full advantage, mainly due to Minshew's arm.  MPJ is a solid WR, but I wouldn't consider him a playmaker.  But I do consider him a first down maker.   The D was bad.  Even though they set a record for sacks, the QB pressure was noticeably poor.  Safety was a glaring weakness late in the season.  Cost us the Texans game.  In retrospect, it may have been a good thing though.  Latu is going to shake things up.   Still, Ballard has to address FS.  I know there's time and guys available.  I hope it gets done.  I think it's the only really bad position on the team.  I could live with the CBs.
