Not one can replace Saquon Barkley, but the Giants have to try.                                                                                                                            His sources are telling him Giants are looking for a trade partner........... The 2 questions would be would the Colts consider it and would they (at least ) try to get a early round draft pick in exchange ?

lol , an early round draft pick? What has he done that warrants that type of draft capital? We aren’t a team loaded at RB position. The Giants wouldn’t consider a trade for Hines he isn’t an every down or in between the tackles back.

Hines doesn't have any value in trade. As a rookie, he average 3.7 YPC and 6.7 Y/R (low for a receiving back)...and his numbers (albeit in a small sample) are even below that this year.

He has more value to the Colts...who don't really have anybody else to catch the ball out of the backfield.

The Giants are in complete disarray.  They barely beat the Bucs (the Bucs kicker missed 2 xp's and a gimme game winner).

It's not like they're in a conference championship race and really need help for 4 weeks to make sure they're going to go 4-0 so they need to make a desperate trade.

I like Hines a lot, he's good in our system and getting better and better... he's not on the same page as Saquaon Barkley (I don't think any other RB in the NFL is, actually -- maybe Bell, Elliot and 2-3 more)... they would be insane to want to trade us anything higher than a 4th thinking Hines is going to save their season while Barkley's on the bench.

What’s Hines have to do with this?

And beat writers are generally voicing their opinion, not the teams.

Think about it, the Giants are not a playoff team and have a star RB, so why do they trade for a RB?

why would we trade Hines right now?  He's vital RB depth as a roleplaying receiving back and is just finding his timing with Brissett right now.  Besides, we're not in a position to easily replace him.

If we plan on being competitive this year we need Hines or someone very much like him.

I mean he's not the last guy I give up or anything but at the same time.... why???

Saw the title and was coming to say the same.  7th at most.  A pick swap of 7th rounders more likely.

Possibly, at least when the draft order is clearer and it would be a move up in the 7th round for the Colts.

But yes, almost no value for him.  Probably plenty of FA backs who play as well as him.

IF the Giants want a back it's not going to be a bigger name like a Gordon but someone that will know their role when the big man comes back. They'd be better off trading for a Dolphin back, the Phins are all about draft picks so they could get someone cheap..

Thus far, Hines has shown more potential than productivity. A trading partner wouldn't really look at potential as in depth as the organization that actually has the player, so any trade we make would shortchange us. Keep him, see if that potential keeps on growing. He's been good thus far this season

Just...

Dear God...

On so many levels.

We have a team in contention for the division and playoffs right now.  A draft pick does not make tackles, blocks, catch passes etc. until next year.  Trading Hines hurts the team right now and there are no guarantees next year’s pick will amount to anything.

    • Hey Everyone,   So, I just caught wind of Goodson's apology letter after dropping that short pass from Minshew against the Texans last season. Here's my humorous take on the situation:   "Dear Fans, Coaches, Teammates, and Supporters,   I'm writing to apologize for buttering up that short pass in the most critical moment against the Texans. Look, I know I'm the backup running back, but hey, I'm usually good for catching those short throws - emphasis on 'usually'. My bad for turning a routine play into a blooper reel moment.   To my teammates, sorry for making you wonder if I was secretly playing for the other team. Next time, I'll practice catching more than just footballs thrown by the water boy.   To the coaches, maybe let's reconsider throwing short passes to guys who have hands that are more slippery than a greased pig at the county fair. Just a suggestion.   And to the fans, thanks for turning my drop into a meme. I promise to work on my catching skills so I can make highlights, not lowlights, next season.   Sincerely, Goodson (aka the running back who should stick to running)"   Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but you get the gist. Let's hope Goodson has been hitting those catching drills hard this offseason!
    • I remember looking for highlights of TJ after we drafted him.  I kept finding videos of him following OJ Howard into the endzone.  Not sure if Howard was his responsibility, but it didn't paint a promising picture.
    • Ballard,   So, yeah, about that whole "bust" thing—I guess the cat's out of the bag. Turns out, I'm more of a popcorn fart than a thunderclap. My bad.   When you drafted me, I thought I was gonna be the Colts' next big thing. You know, sacking quarterbacks, making highlight reels, maybe even getting my face on a cereal box someday. But instead, I've been about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.   I've watched the tapes, Coach. I've seen the memes. They're comparing my NFL career to a hangover—starts off with high hopes, and ends with regret and a lot of Gatorade. And honestly, I get it. I'm like that guest who shows up to a party uninvited and ends up eating all the chips.   So, here's my mea culpa. I apologize for not living up to the hype. For every missed tackle, every missed sack, and that one time I accidentally tackled our own quarterback in practice (sorry, Philip). I'm like the guy who brings a guitar to a party and insists on playing Wonderwall—I'm annoying and not nearly as good as I think I am.   But hey, I'm not giving up. I'm hitting the gym, studying film (mostly bloopers at this point), and practicing my touchdown dance for when pigs finally fly. I promise to work harder and maybe, just maybe, I'll redeem myself and earn my place in the Hall of Mediocrity.   Thanks for believing in me, and letting me live my dream for 4 years straight whilst simultaneously producing nothing for your team. I'll make you proud yet, even if it's just by being the team's MVP of Bust Central, and we aren't talking bronze heads.    Sincerely, Ben "The Bust" Banagous (Not sponsored by Gatorade yet, but a guy can dream)
    • if you scream MODS! in anything I write,  I might get in trouble. hahaha
    • MODS!  This should be enough to force you to bring back the laughing emoji option!   Funny stuff!
