Les Miles

may be on the way out at LSU.

I was wondering what some of you think about us hiring him.

There are some other coaches in college I would prefer like Harbaugh, Urban Meyer, and maybe even Nick Saban though I really think he is a scumbag of a person. And Myles has a better chance of actually being available unlike Harbaugh & Meyer.

LSU would have to be out of their minds, along with the alumni to get rid of Les Myles. One of the finest collegiate football coaches ever. As far as Les going to the NFL? Could be a snowball's chance in an inferno. It would have to be one of the most overwhelming offers ever put out by an NFL team for him to leave the college ranks. JMO.

Let me get this straight. Nick Saban is a scumbag, but you want Les Miles? A guy who called an 18 yr old kid a coward because he had the audacity to back out of his commitment to LSU. A guy who lets the team vote on whether a fellow player should get suspended for sucker punching another student.

You better believe I'm serious. So, nothing, according to you over the last 11 years during Miles' tenure @ LSU means nothing except that he's accused of a vote to have a player sucker punch another? Miles tells it like it is. Not like it ain't. So sue him.

You read that wrong. Jeremy Hill sucker punched a kid outside of a bar and good ol Les let's his teammates vote on the consequences. If he tells it like it is then just say you don't give to %s what happened and I'm going to start Jeremy Hill. But not Les, he shifts the blame to the 19 yr old players. But what do you expect from a 40 yr old coach who called an 18 yr old recruit a coward for spurning LSU.

If he becomes available, and I'm looking for a head coach for my NCAA football team as Sports Athletic Director, I'm taking him.

Where's Jeremy Hill now? Oh yeah, starting RB for the Cincinnati Bengals. Do I care what the real story was surrounding all the garbage I've read about Miles?

Not a chance.

What does Jeremy hill being talented enough to play in the NFL have to do with anything? I guess you are pointing out that Les can recruit.....ok.

Recruit, coach, players love him, represents LSU admirably, and recognizes talent much better than a lot of other NCAA teams and coaches. Yeah, Alabama is their thorn in the side. I think he's 5-7 there. Miles to me, at least, is one heck of a collegiate HC.

Miles has consistently produced some of the worst offenses in all of CFB. I'm talking vanilla, totally inept offensive schemes.

Not someone you want in charge of a franchise QB.

Zibby43, scroll back and read my posts. I never said Miles would be a good, very good, great, NFL prospective HC. I believe he needs to stay in the NCAA. And while we're at, go take a look at Miles' record while @ LSU. I'd take him to coach my NCAA team in a heartbeat, if I were an Athletic Sports Director looking for a HC and he was free to do so.

As far as HCing in the NFL? No. I stated a "snowball's chance in an inferno". Much different venue as you well know.

No, besides to my knowledge having zero NFL experience, the guy has underachieved for a number of seasons now with LSU. He did win one title at the NCAA level, but I don't think that is enough to think he is going to come in and take the Colts to the next level.

I'm not picking on you at all but I alway find it funny how these NCAA programs fire these types of coaches or force them out! You used the word "underachieved", Miles' record the last 6 seasons: 2010- 11-2, 2011 13-1(National title), 2012 10-3, 2013 10-3, 2014 8-5 and this year 7-3 so far. Those are great records for any program. Ask Texas and Nebraska about how they feel about their most recent coaching hires. I just shake my head at these situations because a guy who has gone 110-32 at your school shouldn't be getting forced out. It's ridiculous.

If hes so special why is he on his way out ?  :realitycheck:      Maybe in that 11 years there was more .

Hey, Adonis 1, what's goin' on, man? Miles is on his way out because he's lost his last 3 games in a row & has a tough time beating Alabama. (5-7) Yeah, it's that simple. Yeah, over 11 years ...Never mind the Championships, never mind the SEC titles, never mind his incredible overall record, never mind how many times LSU has been ranked in the Top 5-10 nationally, never mind he's a great collegiate coach, never mind he's a great recruiter, never mind players love him.

LSU wants a coach that never loses, and wins the national title every 3 years. Good luck.

Miles... No. I've seen enough LSU games and what he'd bring to the table. He would literally do nothing for the Colts, and I guarantee by his second year his forum would be calling for his head.

You people confuse me. You don't want Saban, but you want Miles... Uh... What?

I believe just about everyone concurs in the thread that Miles should not become an NFL coach. We've been talking about the tenure and questionable longevity Miles has left at LSU and whether he's a good NCAA coach.

Not fair, but when you put more players in the NFL than any other program, you better be getting to the title game more often....or at least that's what fans expect. I believe this is the only reason Saban would leave Bama....you lose two games and the seasons a failure. That's a lot of pressure no matter who you are...especially in a small college town.

Les Miles WILL continue as LSU HC! Breaking news per ESPN after their victory over Texas A&M. He was carried off the field by his players. Best winning coach percentage over the last 25 years. .776 111-32. Over 11 years.

LSU AD : "Miles is our football coach and will continue to be our football coach."

Like I stated earlier in this thread. LSU would've been out of their minds to let Miles go. Common sense & logic prevails in the great state of Louisiana tonight.

LSU would have been dumb to fire him.

    • The Colts part in the podcast is from 9:50 til about 13:40, so it is a short listen. He said LT is a big question. Struggled at that position since Castanzo left. Raimann has not really panned out. Need the position to be solidified. Like the Oline man from Pitt and there is a belief that he can play LT. It could mean nothing but teams do draft for next years free agent market. I believe Raimann is up for a contract and could give the Colts some flexibility if Raimann wants huge money and/or if they don't really think he is he answer moving forward and Conclaves shows something. Let be honest,  Cosell could be totally opposite of what the Colts think of Raimann as a LT.
    • Agree in that he may have used the incorrect words in trying to get his point across.   I would have to listen to it again but I believe he did say that the Colts have basically not found their starting LT.
    • Not unless they feel that one of the Oline men they drafted could develop into a LT. They used a 3rd a 4th on Oline this year and that is what they used on Raimann when they drafted. I am not saying Raimann is trash. Like I said, a lot of people on this forum and the media are high on him and Cosell is not.  He could be some where in the middle in how the Colts feel about them. If that is true, then  I would tend to believe that he has not cemented himself as the franchise LT moving forward.
    • If he said something like 'Raimann isn't a franchise LT, but he's serviceable,' I probably wouldn't bat an eye. If he said 'they could probably improve at LT because I'm not sure Raimann will hold up,' my ears would perk up a little, but that's still a defensible opinion. Saying he has not panned out is a different story. I interpret that as meaning he thinks Raimann has played poorly, which is objectively not true.   Like you said, we can disagree on a draft prospect, and only time will tell. If someone has doubts about how someone on the team will perform in the future, that's fair. But saying Raimann has not panned out is based on what we've already seen, and in this case, I think Cosell is just wrong.    Maybe I'm taking his comment too literally. I listened to the interview, it was just one line in a broader discussion, and maybe if he was going to clarify he'd state his position differently.
    • We would have to pick pretty high to move on from Rainmann. That would mean a bad season and that isn’t happening.  I doubt they would pay a LT in FA. That’s too much money.
