it’s like if Latu goes off next year and is rookie of the year, and saying Ballard made a genius move to not trade up and pick Latu because he just knew he’d be there. That’s how ludicrous that argument is. He admitted they felt very lucky, and were… especially if he turns into a pro bowler soon and we look back in hindsight.

Reddit is essentially internet prospecting. You have to sift through a bunch of waste and junk, but there are occasional nuggets that make it a worthwhile trip. 
 

I get the most use out of it in regards to gaming. When I have a question or issue with a game I’m playing I almost always find a solution on Reddit. It’s good for stuff like that, but for general discussion and debate, yeah it’s a total cesspool.

We spent enough years with frank listening to him talk about what he wanted in a QB and what he wanted them to be able to do that I can’t see frank wanting Young over Stroud even after a 3 week fever dream. Stroud checked all the boxes he ever laid out too perfectly. And after having a full year of sample size on Stroud, he and frank probably would have been a pretty sweet pairing, much akin to the Luck/frank pairing.

From what I've seen reported Arizona was shutting down any trade requests. They weren't even listening to offers because they wanted MHJ. So yeah... If I had to guess the Colts wanted Nabers. They did work on him, had him on top 30 visit. IMO our best chance was probably the Chargers pick at 5, but it must have been really expensive.

Maybe I'm using incorrect terminology when saying he's an OLB (EDGE might be more appropriate, but I'm not sure what an EDGE encompasses compared to a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB ), but I definitely have seen seen him have more reps standing up than with his hand on the ground. He also was asked to play in coverage as well.

That is a tactic UCLA does .  All of there d lineman stand in certain situations.   He played all over the line including inside and played a lot with his hand in the dirt

I think Reich was broken by the beginning of 2022, so I don't know if there was any pairing that would have worked for him. But Stroud would have been the best bet.

this is a pick I really like. He was my #1 guy I wanted assuming the top 3 WR would be gone. I just was afraid Ballard would go Turner instead because of the athleticism.

Any WR we draft now would be a backup to Pierce and play special teams.  If we are going to use the pick we should be moving up and get the best talent available regardless of position.  Picks 6 and 7 won’t make the team.  Move up and get someone who has a chance to.

What happened was when the Jets were on the clock at 11 after the Vikings picked, the Bengals, Rams, and Colts all tried to trade up with them before they picked. I'm guessing the same was true with the Broncos, but they didn't want to trade down because 5 QBs were taken already and took Nix (heard Peyton say he had trade down offers but picked at 12). After that, the Raiders took Bowers.

 

I'm 99.9% sure that Bowers was the Colts first choice and they got their backup choice in Latu who was also their top defensive player. Balard also admitted in his 1st round press conference that he tried to trade up and it was a no go.

Yeah bowers went at 13.  Colts picked at 15.  No reason to swap with the Saints to go up one spot.

I watched the 2022 Sun Bowl between Pitt and UCLA. Latu only beat Concalves 2 times, one was on a real good inside move that Concalves barely got a hand on him. Concalves was playing right tackle, not sure why, he was clearly better than the left tackle. Latu finished the game with 1 sack, 5 pressures and some hurries. Interestingly, there were some plays UCLA only had 3 linemen and Latu was over the center. That was the alignment when he got his sack, he just ran right between the center and guard. Latu is very smooth and fast on the field. He kind of reminds me of a bigger, faster Duane Bickett. Superb job by Ballard.
