  1. Hopefully Paye is back this week. Seems like a good opportunity with their LT out.
  2. Let's hope! No one can objectively look at the Colts and say that they don't have promise in a lot of spots. I don't trust this coaching staff at all going forward however, despite us getting players back from injury.
  3. They are 4-1. They are most certainly a good team. You're right though you didn't say they suck. I'll correct my OP
  4. The Ravens are most certainly a good team. They are 4-1. Anyone in the NFL would scoff if you said a team wasn't good with a 4-1 record. Are they elite atm? Maybe not but they have that record despite ALOT of injuries this year. Lamar is a damn good qb. What he did in the 4th was something many quarterbacks lesser than him have done to us in that quarter however. Thats the one part people shouldn't forget about this game. We still had bright spots though. Our offense did quite well versus their top rated defense. We just have some glaring obvious issues on the scheming/coaching side of things that were on full display in the 4th quarter. We are consistently bad at a few spots, which does make us a bad team. Hopefully those things aren't ignored going forward or they'll continue to haunt us.
  5. I don't see Ballard benching him. If we sit him, we are obviosuly throwing and thats going to cause fans to not go to games and and a whole bunch of issues/ridicule. Add that Hard Knocks drama snd it will just look worse. We probably will be somewhat close to .500 by the end of the season so I'm fine giving up like the 15th pick for the guy. He played his * off today.
  6. Frank admitted as much regarding that play. Both things can be true though.
  7. Does anyone have a screenshot of the starting CBs image they displayed in the 4th. I remember seeing that and knew that the end was near.
  8. I do admire people saying maybe this season isn't over. We never know given how awful division is. Its also not like the whole team was awful today either. However, something Pat Mcafee said today regarding bad teams (in particular he was talking about the Giants being picked as an upset over Dallas) really hit me, even if it was pretty basic. Most teams do some good things, even the garbage ones. What defines the good/great teams is doing good things the majority of the time. You can't tell me that this same defense scheme won't be giving up so many points in the 4th quarter going forward. Lamar is awesome, but what he did to this zone defense in the 4th wasn't something a more mediocre Qb can do similarly and that we haven't seen already happen a few times. We've consistently have been bad during the 4th and I doubt that will change going forward as long as Eberflus is around. I really hope our defensive scheme changes for these scenarios in the future. If not, its going to just be another thing we are NOT good at, even if we get some injured players back.
  9. Fair enough, I agree we should have let him go a year before when we did. But he was good for a long long time for us. Thinking about him in his prime to what we have now hurts
  10. This is the kind of game that defines a season. This defense also % the bed in the 4th vs the Dolphins. Sure the injuries made it worse, but Eberflus is incompetent at the worst times. Lamar is a great QB, but he basically went to two (Brown, Andrews) reads the entire 3rd and 4th quarter with absolutely no pressure. A lesser quarterback could have done what he did to this garbage prevent D. Jacoby was absolute garbage last week until the 4th where we played the exact same kind of D. And Eberflus did exactly nothing to stop that then and this week as well. Absolutely pathetic. I'd say fire Blankenship too but I doubt there's a good replacement out there. We were blessed with Vinatieri for a long long long time....
  11. Our kicker was garbage too. Not sure if you watched the 4th quarter if thats your response.
  12. You obviously feel some type of way if you think Andrew Luck is soft since I know you know his injury history. Have fun with that mentality.
  13. He gave everything he had while playing and never cheated the team out of anything on the field. Thats all I'll say on Luck since everything else has been said about him several times over. If you're still bitter/mad at Luck about what he did, I'd suggest you take a second look on how you take in your entertainment.
  14. Strachan has potential, but he is also a 7th round WR that comes from a divison 2 school where they probably didn't have him run any routes at all since he could always go for the jump ball. Maybe he picks up more chemistry and improves his route running while actually being able to practice with Wentz in the next few weeks, but I'm looking to see if he can produce next year more than anything.
  15. I honestly think we overall played at the same level that we did vs the Rams. The only difference is that the Rams up to this point of the season are considered by many as the best team in the league and we lost to them by 3. Sure there are plenty of holes on the team, but we have damn good talent on the roster as well. We shouldn't forget that. I think we will do pretty well the rest of the season if we can get some injured players back and hopefully keep our guys healthy. The lack of TC/practice has obviously hurt despite what the Colts team/players have said, but this week a few thing went our way on offense that didn't the last few times. Those are signs of improvement that I hope continue. We for sure need someone else beyond Pittman that can be relied on in the pass game consistently. TY will provide some of that, but Ballard needs to get that guy next year if he wants this offense to get to the next level. Our Defense was fantastic today until the very end. There didn't seem to be any obvious mishaps/communication issues that caused big plays like we saw versus the last few weeks, which I think is the main culprit of why our D looks so inconsistent at times. We had several consecutive series vs the Rams and the Titans where our Defense 3-out their supposed strong offenses. When they did score, they almost all seemed to be due to a DB releasing a guy when they shouldn't of have or a LB being out of position. If they make sure to cut those miscommunications down, this Defense has looked damn good at times. Big test next Monday though. Lewis and Turay had good days. They looked like they meant business today. Our Offense is good if we establish a run game. Our OL are far, far better run blockers then they are pass blocking, especially with all the injuries. Loved seeing Wentz look to his TE's this game. Luck and Rivers favorite targets under Reich usually seemed to be the TE's, so I think that Reich's offensive scheme is made to really use those guys heavily in the pass game. Not sure why they weren't used as much the last few weeks. I really hope Kelly isn't terribly hurt.
  16. Thats not how all pro voting works at all. Its determined by executives/players in the league and by the writers/media that typically do the HOF voting. You're think about pro bowls, where fan votes take up a third of the weight. All pros are far more distinguishing and dictate that his peers/executives across the league think he is one of the best LBs in the game. He's done this for the first three years of his career, and his stats completely back this up. I think that buys him at least a lackluster 3 game stint while he's injured.
  17. For me, Ballard has a tendency to get to much into his philosophy on the team at times. Not that his thoughts on the team aren't interesting (ofc they are), but it also creates fodder that can and WILL be taken out of context. Its a big reason why most GMs just aren't that open to talking to the fans/media for the most part. The term 'delayed gratification' was in regards to getting a DE in the 2nd round in this year's draft. I've already read a good 10 posts in this thread utilizing that phrase as if that's his feelings towards the full current 2021 roster or the current season that hadn't started at the time of this interview. Context be dammed, these kinda phrases typically riles up fanbases, which then gets to the media and then Ballard publically gets labeled as the guy who doesn't care about the present at all. LOL Ballard has been pretty good, but not great as a GM. He has had plenty of very difficult scenarios with this team to handle that he's done positive work on, but anyone who says he is a perfect or even a top tier GM currently is wrong. The record and draft results show this. If Dayo works out and if Kwity continues to improve (looks pretty good so far from what he's played) in the next few years, then the delayed gratification philosophy will be correct. Most fans wont care though and will just use the phrase he said whenever the team gets into a rough patch like now.
  18. Its wild comparing our injury reports to the other teams in the past two weeks. I can't say I know about how injuries work at all, but its been commonly said that overworking players without the proper rest can lead to teams with far more injured players on average. Maybe that has a factor, but it easily be just poor poor luck. Hopefully our Injury report looks okay in the next few weeks.
