Even though the running games weren't great for either team, with the defensive play where I'm from we call it an ol school slobberknocker lol. Red zone offense is my only real concern, we won't be able to settle for 3 all the time. Still some things to improve upon but a W. :helmet:

For sure

Agree the red zone has to get better.  Taylor averaged 4.0 ypc today which is what you want but only got 17 carries.  Way too much trying to run with Hines.  For the Wilkins fans he only averaged 1.7 ypc today.  Combined Hines and Wilkins had 18 carries.  That’s too many and not enough of Taylor.

The bears d is no joke.    We didn't play perfect,  but we played well.    The defense is legit

100%.  The Colts have nothing to be ashamed of.  I actually think the fact they won “ugly” is a good thing because those are the type of games the Colts haven’t played well in the past few years.  This was a battle of two of the top three ranked defenses in the NFL and it lived up to the hype.

Colts need to clean up some play calling and red zone offense but hey they are 3-1 something is working.

Good thread.

But we’re going to have a LOT more games that look and feel like this going forward.   Defense, Special Teams, Field position and just enough offense.

We have lost a TON of fire power already lily this year.   Mack, Campbell, Pittman...  that’s a lot of juice and sizzle to play without.   And we’re still figuring out the tight end situation.   All this,  when the O-Line has yet to jell..   or is it gel?

Either way,  don’t be surprised when we have more games like this.  What a crazy season, and it’s only 4 weeks old!

It was a good win, on the road against an undefeated team. Nick Foles definitely gave their offense a spark, he throws a good deep ball which makes them a quick scoring threat. We got the lead early, and never relinquished it. Only our penchant of settling for field goals prevented this game from being a blowout. The Bears defense has always been known for being physical, but our defense matched them hit for hit. We played a pretty clean game, most of the penalties went against Chicago. it was the 2nd time within 3 games in which our rookie kicker went 4 for 4 in field goal attempts. Our kick coverage teams aren't giving up long returns, and very nearly downed yet another punt inside the 5.  I like what I'm seeing, they're doing what they have to in order to win, but not taking many unnecessary chances. It was most fitting that former Bear Trey Burton made 2 big plays late to vex his old team, an 8 yard reception on 3rd & 6 that made our final field goal a relatively short one, and recovering their desperate onside kick to seal the victory.

Exactly. I have seen many ugly wins in my 40 years of watching NFL and college ball. That was in another zip code from ugly.

The Colts were playing history today. First time this team has been 3-1 since 2013. This is the best start of Franks career.

Im not that worried about this offense. These things that are wrong are fixable. It isn't because they "cant" get better in the red zone.

Rivers is new here too. There is a level of comfort you dont get until the season is rolling into the second half.

The announcers wouldn't shut up about foles and his lack of being on the team and how great of a QB he really is blah blah... i think its fair to allow rivers and this team time to adjust to each other.

Defense remains 1st. 4 games of 1st defense is impressive in this league, for this defense.

This is the best I have felt about the Colts since 2018.

And the best I have felt about this defense since 2007.

Agreed.

Rivers and us are still in the early dating phase. He was in his prior place for almost 20 years.

As long as we're winning while figuring things out this is a blessing.

We were close, we said a double digit win but they got a late TD and the 2. I think we will get the RedZone situation figured out. I still am glad Frank is taking the 3's instead of being gambling Frank on 4th. IMO, when we have 4th and short he probably thinks about the Jags game when we could've went up 10-0. I like going for it on 4th too but you have to pick certain times to do it. Frank has been smart about it lately. Rivers played ok, no INT's, no fumbles which was key. I said the main thing we had to do was win TO battle and we would win, I even said that to Adam Walker in the mail bag thread.

If this offense can clean up the red zone, and get into a rhythm, this offense can play with anyone. These FGs are winning these early games but that isn't going last.

I truly appreciate our kickers been on point this year. As you can see, being in a rhythm wins you games.

I just get the feels that this offense hasn't sunken in so to speak. And Frank has had some head scratching moments this year.

I thought J. Glasgow had some nice plays on special teams today. Had a punt block and a nice hard hit on the kick returner.

Yep it’s so nice seeing what Ballard sees in players when he drafts them develop on the field.  That’s a sign of a good eye for talent.  When he says we saw this roll for player and he goes out and does it way more times than not you are drafting well.
