I saw that from Donte as well. No clue what happened, either. Last I heard he got arrested for shooting a few rounds into his ex-girlfriends house down in Greenwood. Then the Colts released him.

I just saw this on Moncrief's insta too. News to me. I didn't realize he was let go.

Donte just posted on his Instagram that the Ex colt running back has passed away. Anyone have any info on what happened?

He did not reference Tipton by name - just 37.  Presumably that is a jersey # but maybe not.  Even if it is it could be a HS or college teammate because I see nothing on google about Tipton passing away.  In fact the name mentioned in the Tweet is Brodie.

Probably need to confirm this info before starting a thread on it.

A buddy sent me a screen shot of the post (I don't have instagram) and Moncrief attached a pic of Tipton.

Brodie is a term people use for friend. It means the same thing as "bro".  Also it has a picture of Zurlon and also refers to Detroit where Tipton is from. Think it's about as clear as you can get that he is referring to Tipton.

I only have Twitter and that post was not as clear as what you saw.

Apologies.

So sad.  I'm not for gun control but I am for gun education.

This is was a totally avoidable accident.  My sympathies to his family.

I agree...though I am for at least some gun control. :P

RIP Zurlon and prayers go out to his family

Pulling a duffle bag out of the car at a car dealership with loaded guns in the bag. Unfortunate but it does beg the question what was he going to do with that bug with two loaded guns had one not gone off

Yeah, I don't think anyone educated in gun saftey would put them in a duffle bag also......  I'm curious to know what the heck the guy was doing.

Very sad situation.

This is just speculation but I don't think what he was going to do was a good thing

The story is on NFL.com that's how I just found out the story is he was at a car dealership carrying a duffle bag that had a gun in it I guess he jumped off a car and the gun went off from inside the bag shooting him and he was pronounced dead at a hospital soon after. From what I have read on thin even though its sad that is an *.

I am sad to hear of this news. Till more details come out it is hard to comprehend exactly what happened. Was it simply a case of a cheap gun or a safety matter? It is not common for a gun to just go off without some sort of safety measure not be taken.

I'm upset. Another young life lost. Crazy to think this could've been Talib a few days ago. But I don't understand what it is that makes these guys feel like they have to walk around with guns all the time. I understand where these guys come from because I've lived in the same type of environments but once you make it to the NFL, that's it. You shouldn't need to walk around strapped all the time. Damn.

Maybe he wasn't going to do anything with them.    Maybe he carries them with him for his personal protection.   He's at a dealership......   perhaps he's getting a new car and was simply transferring the bag from one car to the other?

Odds are overwhelming the incident was not going to turn into anything dark and sinister......    just saying...

Oh no question about it. I'm not accusing him of anything

Man, you have no idea what he was doing.  And until you do have an idea, I think you would be well served to leave it be.

    • In Indiana you can get a real nice 3 bedroom, 2 full bathrooms/showers/nice Kitchen/big living room house for 200,000 in a decent neighborhood. Where do you live NY or Cali , in one of the those states I guess it would be about 600,000 to afford anything like I talked about. I could never live in either of those states. If someone in NY moved here, they would be rich.
    • Smith has been having a hard time staying healthy the last few years and he's due 19 mil next season with no dead cap to cut him.
    • Well they replaced Strausser with Sparano which solved a problem.
    • I disagree about Smith.  He’s an absolute road grader as a run blocker. He’s graded as one of the best in that category.  His pass blocking was around 71 last year. Considering the need for knee surgery that’s pretty good considering the DE’s they went up against last year.    Fries was solid last year. He plays with a mean streak and through the whistle. Fries was better last year than Glowinski was as a Colt in my opinion. I don’t see any reason Fries wouldn’t continue to improve. He’s an ascending player.    I hope the Colts hit on drafting Kelly’s replacement.  It was good that he had a bounce back year after 2+ sub par years. However, they can’t pay everyone and having a center with a $14 million cap hit is too much.    You can’t pay everyone. It seems like the Colts have a plan in place to replace Kelly and/or Fries after this season but I expect the Colts oline to be even more consistent this year with a healthy Smith and a QB who is willing to stay in a clean  pocket.  I also feel like the depth is there to handle injuries.
    • One correction here.  The NFL has loosened the restrictions on veterans.  Six of the players have zero restrictions on how many NFL games a player has accrued.
