Brady: Peyton Has 2 Years Left

Andrew Luck's Beard

Speculation and flat out mocking/insulting are two totally different things. Take off your tinted glasses. When it comes to pats and brady. They've lost all right to class and respect. Both things Brady obviously lacks himself.

wth?

It was an email to a friend. It was personal, not s professional email.

JHC. The ridiculousness is absurd.

Sensationalism at it's best! There's no good reason for this private email to be released. I guarantee Peyton has talked smack about Brady and others privately.

Sadly, as a Peyton fan, I concede Brady will have the better career of the two, even if, Tom retired tomorrow.

Judging by Manning's arm strength half way through last season, I will be amazed if he survives this year. He barely has anything left at all.

Uhh no, manning almost led the league in passes over 40 yards and passes over 20 yards

How is Brady saying Manning has 2 years left insulting in any way? That is pretty much what the whole world thinks with some thinking this might be his last season including many on this board.

Manning has hinted the same. It's like saying Brett Keisel is hairy

Not sure it is insulting to say Manning has two more years. But, to suggest he himself has like 7 or 8 then is a bit laughable and arrogant.

Top athletes are notoriously optimistic about their ability to keep playing. It's more delusion than arrogance.

Absolutely...Manning has suggested all along that he would play out his contract ....2 more years.

..and Tom Brady seems nowhere neat retirement.  Nothing about that email or that opinion is Breaking News

A few things on this;

1) I feel this comment was tongue in cheek.

2) All joking aside, I find his statement mostly accurate. Two years for Manning, and I could certainly see Brady going 5 or 6 more years.

3) Brady knows as well as anyone that future plans could change on the back of a single snap. Both him and Peyton have lost an entire year of their careers to injury.

4) This is voyeurism, plain and simple. Think of comments you may make to friends and family and imagine them being broadcast to the entire world. I'd bet you'd make a few enemies through such a process.

5) Brady has only himself to blame for these tidbits of his private life leaking out. He wanted it to get ugly when he refused to man-up and admit his role. He doubled down on this aspect when himself and Kraft choose to fight tooth and nail. Add this to the heaping mound of trouble he could've saved himself by owning the mistake he made of customizing his footballs.

6) Despite all the drama and intrigue, I feel as blessed to be able to watch Brady play as I feel blessed to watch Manning play. We're lucky to have had them, and we should recoil at the thought of them no longer being on the field.

Are there any emails about Eli? I'm guessing if there are, they're probably in his inbox, and not his sent folder.

An new Email was just released, sent from Eli Manning to Tom Brady;

"Hey Tom, what's the difference between the Patriots and cigarettes?

I don't smoke cigarettes".

Perhaps you missed my :)  ?

And let's be real here Brady does not need to win another football game. He already is the most accomplished player of the SB era. Every single win from here on out is just gravy on top ...

I'm sorry,  how is Tom Brady MORE ACCOMPLISHED than Joe Montana or Terry Bradshaw?

You know,  the other two QB's to win FOUR Super Bowls...

Can't wait for that analysis...........................................

Why is ANY Colts fan here offended?

First,  there was nothing wrong with what Brady said.     He's either right or he's wrong.   But it makes no difference either way.

Second,  and more importantly,  this was a PRIVATE e-mail,  never intended for public consumption.   People are reacting here as if Brady said this on ESPN Sports Center or NFL Total Access.

It was private.    It's none of anyone's business.     Get a grip.

People here are way too easily offended.    And over what?      This was nothing.

There will be plenty of other things in the future where being outraged or offended will be appropriate.

This isn't one of them.      SMH........

Most are laughing at the latest bit of Brady porn since this stuff is hilarious. Which is why Pats fans are in a tizzy a lot. We are laughing and amused by golden boy this offseason and can't believe it all.

I can't wait to see whats next!

Individually Brady is more accomplished that those mentioned in your post....Way more accomplished actually, I mean we can bring the SB debate into it but that's a team accomplishment and I don't think should have ANY place in evaluating how good a QB is/was.....A Qb can literally throw for 400 yards, a couple td's and still lose in the SB. Should he have thrown more? No......his team should have showed up

Kurt Warner threw for 377 yards 3 td's only 1 int vs Pitssburgh and his Cardinals still lost in a SB a few years back

Regardless, Realistically Brady is not the most accomplished QB in the SB era

Sure, their SB wins are tied among the three with both Brady and Montana at 3 SB MVPs and Terry at 2 but Brady has all the other numbers over the two :

*Note - I have noted both wins and stats below just to include everything as accomplishments even though wins factor in the team)

Post-season -

Number of SB appearances - 6 (other two have 4)

Number of playoff wins (Brady has 21 and still going (Montana 16, Bradshaw 14)

Number of conference game wins and appearances - Brady is 6-3, Montana is 4-3, Bradshaw is 4-2)

Brady also owns all of the post-season records in terms of yards, TDs, and completions and also all the Super Bowl records in terms of yards, TDs and completions

Regular season -

Brady has more wins and a better winning percentage at 160-47 (.772 WP), Montana 117-47 (.713 WP), Bradshaw 107-51 (.677 WP)

More divisional titles as Brady has the most all time

He has more yards, TDs and completions than the other 2 and is still going

Only QB with 16-0 regular season

2 league MVPs for Brady same as Montana but Brady has the only unanimous MVP in league history; Bradshaw has one league MVP

I'm not mad after reading this. Everyone has been speculating on Peyton. Although, Brady saying he will last another 7 years in this league is way off the charts. Giselle will talk him out of it.

I did see the emails between Brady and his pool guy about how much it costs for a winter pool cover. Ridiculous and funny at the same time. Giselle had the final say. That's usually how it goes in a marriage, though.

Whaaaa.

Really though, just stop.

Every player in the league is different then the 'persona' that we see when they are giving all politically correct answers at press conferences.

It's not about that. It's how he is supposed friends with manning and then talks trash behind his back. That's two face.

You know the old line,  lies, damn lies and statistics?

I hope so,  because you just used it.

You know full well that most of those stats are a product of the times.

-- Longer regular season

-- Longer post season

-- Relaxed rules that greatly favor the passing game.

-- Expansion that has greatly watered down the quality of modern teams.

You'll forgive me if I don't share your view of more "accomplished."

And before you go and say it,  I'm not a Brady hater.   I defend him here plenty.   And I even think he's better than Manning.  And I'm saying that on a Colts website.

But the more accomplished argument can't just get reduced to numbers as you did.

I'm not offended or outraged. It's too bad that Brady's private information has to be blasted all over the Internet.

That said, these emails have revealed him to be more of a jerk than I thought.

I get what you are saying here and don't really disagree which is why I said he was the "most accomplished" and not the "greatest of all time" (even though I believe he is ) as goat takes into account everything you mentioned - era, rules, teams, etc. That being said, Brady has played during the cap/FA where teams turn over every 3 years so he has had to take different teams to the SB unlike Montana and Bradshaw and as a result he has not had the all-star teams that those two QBs enjoyed. In fact, he had no one close to Rice, Stallworth and Swann for the majority of his career.

You can put as many of those that you like they will not exist in any record book ...

It's no surprise that his legacy has been tarnished.  He's gone from underdog that overcame everything to a liar and a cheater who says stupid things (like destroying a phone is common practice) to cover his own idiocy.  Record books will say what they will (and records fall over time anyway), but his legacy is something that is tarnished.

    • Time for this weeks prediction. I'm 1-1 thus far. I really didn't think we could conceivably lose to a qb who had only thrown 6 career passes heading into last Sundays game, but as they say."on any given Sunday the Irsay's can lose to any inferior opponent while making a journeyman qb look like an all-pro"(I paraphrased that a little, but it is historically accurate). So, onto todays game, facing a rookie qb making just his 3rd nfl. start, 4 fewer than ours, so that really balances out. If we use the offensive game plan against the Bears that we used against the Texans and mix in some deep throws we will shut up the yapping Bears defense and win. If we use the pedestrian, bland offensive game plan we used against the Packers we will lose. I am going to flip a coin, hold on-------------the coin says we will win! So I'll go with the win today. Game time at 1 o'clock, go Colts!!!!
    • I watched a Mike Tyson documentary last night, what stood out was Tyson ALWAYS took the fight to the opponent, he NEVER sat back and waited for his opponent to attack him. Maybe Gus and the Colt defense should take note of that. Against the Texans we attacked down field, the Packer game we threw ONE pass over 50 yards(last play of the game). Disappointing thus far, but onto to the Bears.
    • Where is Davis at? Also why is Grover not playing nose instead? This makes no sense to me.
